Highest Quadrant benchmark with MIUI/CM7 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. Just want to compare what the overclocking capabilities of the SGS and so I'm asking you:
What's your highest benchmark score?
Mine was: 2628 with MIUI v.5 Glitch v.10 Kernel overclocked to stable 1500 mhz.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App

Who really cares about outdated synthetic benchmarks?? And WHY is this in Q&A?

My specs: CM7 #15 nightly, Chainfire 3D(makes score worse ) and kernel is CM7_SGSMTD_20110603-09_r_platypus-revolutions-kernel_0_NEO_06(no-led-notif)
Just for you I overclocked my SGS to 1500 just with the CM7 settings there (tried 1600 but it froze) so on the 1500 made 10 quadrant runs (or more)
And this is the best result (it averages between 2900-3000)
I guess without the chainfire3D it could go higher . Also with this kernel even though the synthetic benchmark shows awesome speeds. It feels lagging in the UI

No one told you its rude to answer a question with a question? Also everyone, including the OP (for sure) knows that quadrant scores means nothing (check my comment). WE ALL KNOW.
AND?
And let me repeat myself AND? What did your reply bring to this thread? Did it help the OP? If you claim its bad bad, you could have at least write why? (Then my reaction would be nicer)
But to write "Its bad", has no value for the poster or the thread... And frankly these posts here are more common as the ones "how big is yours?"

Who ever said "It's bad"? And this Q&A section is for users asking questions, since they genuinely require some help and assistance. This belongs in General. And, there's no point flaming me. You're not getting anywhere with that. This thread is still pointless. There have been several topics such as this before, and like it's ancestors, it will die soon...
EDIT: And for the record, if you EVEN KNEW JACK (if you know what that means), you wouldn't have bothered replying here.. knowing the pointlessness of it all..

this is from the rules:
Q&A (Questions and Answers) - all questions, irrespective of type, get posted in here whether they be theme related, accessory related, technical, etc.
Also, if you know it will die, why you replied as a first person how futile it is? (please dont answer this, also the answer is known)
nothing more to say, just asking nicely not to respond if you have nothing of value to add

ah right, i found that app yesterday, so do you just let shootme run in the background the whole time?
i find it quite troublesome to run shootme only when i need it as you'd have to repeat the process of tapping its hide button then switching back to the app you were before.
can you tell me of a better way to use it?

Really? You sure? Actually, I have to disagree with both of you. Yes, in most circumstances Quadrant scores are useless without seeing the big picture. However, I wonder if when overclocking, if there is anything that might become slower? Generally with overclocking, you are trading stability/efficiency for speed.
Whilst a doubling of scores may not reflect a 200% increase in speed, in similar rom's with similar hardware, with similar apps running, it maybe can be used for comparison.
That being said, I could overclock my phone and produce the highest score, yet, it may only be stable enough to survive the Quadrant test 50% of the time.

Did yours?
There are 2 sides to the story:
1) I'd be guessing though this is a dupe. There are MANY quadrant related threads already.
2) On the other hand, in the dark ages, many people defended Quadrant as though it was bloody accurate as new roms were being released. I think of them as the dark ages because reliance on quadrant left people closed minded, making decisions based solely on quadrant scores. They gave up on ROM's simply because Quadrant told them to. If reminders aren't posted every so often, we might spawn a new generation of Quadrant worshipers.

[Q] RFS corruption of /system. Do I need a fix. K9 is safe.

Hi guys & gals,
I have been following this discussion for about a day & I have a question for you all.
Am I correct if I say that THIS FIX is for people who want to migrate from ULK to VOODOO? On the face it appears so. If I am sticking with ULK for some time to come, do I really need this FIX? If I want to go to a STOCK ROM, I would definately re-partition, format etc etc.
Why did you create a new thread? You already posted it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9378337#post9378337

Thats because I wanted this question to be more visible, After I typed the sentence & posted & read it again, I thought it has some truth. I feel this way after reading so many posts & trying to put things in perspective.
Especially read sztupy's post in the original thread.
looooooooooooooooooooool kalpik is following youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
& to be honest, I have been using sztupy's kernels since he started with his multinational ROMS. Then on to his lagfixes. Till today I haven't faced a single problem because of the kernel. Most of my problems were my stupidity.

Thanks.
I am an average-abled user. Like so many here on the forum. This topic is so tough on me.
Even if you stay with ULK-based kernels, for example if you would want to upgrade to SpeedMod K9, you would still want the corruption of your /system fixed.
The fix is just a fix, not a trojan horse. After using the fix to repair your /system, you can safely flash for example SpeedMod K9, or whatever kernel you like, without running into the issues caused by a corrupt /system. (Unless you are smart enough to install a corrupting kernel again .)
Supercurio's fix is based on Voodoo code because that's the tools Supercurio has and knows, but the fix doesn't even apply a lagfix. So those who want to really use Voodoo, still have to install it seperately.
In my opinion there's way too much hostility in this story. Someone makes a fix, and because of that he is trying to steal your souls? Just use whatever work you like, and don't use what you do not like... Let those whose work you like know you appreciate it. But don't go calling the farmer names because you don't like vegetables. Just don't eat any .

Or to any other kernels that use the mounting options that can potentially cause corruption. Which as far as I know, is ALL kernels, except K8 and older.
And of course some will be able to upgrade from anything to anything, the corruption is not instant, so some will not have it (yet).

SO this is basically a migration problem between kernels.

So now its not a RFS issue as stated by some top devs.. but a kernal migration issue right ?

I really dont remember the thread & the post but its easily searchable.
Sleepy time now, Lets really be rational here. Logical even.

[Q] Feature seems to be missing.

Hi, there!
Before I get started here, let me apologize if this subject has been covered before. I can't seem to get the forum keyword search function to return any results--at all- and I don't have time to read pages and pages of threads to find what I'm looking for. If there is a better place for this, please let me know.
I'm new to the Nook Color, and I'm running CM7 nightly release from 07/02/11. I love it, but I have some questions and a comment.
When the app drawer is open and you long-press an icon, it used to put a shortcut to that app on the homescreen. now it brings up this weird little submenu... What exactly does, "Choose Catalog", mean and what does it do for us? I REALLY miss that long-press to add shortcut to homescreen thing. Is there a setting that I can change to re-enable it?
Is there a specific thread to use to give feedback and ask questions about the nightlies' that is for the Nook Color only? I saw one for the nightlies, but it seemed that it was mostly irrelevent to us since all manner of devices--includung phones-- were being discussed.
I've just been using the CM7 nightly releases with Google Apps installed. Am I missing something by not installing Dalingrin's clockwork mod kernel? I was afraid that it was a replacement--not an addition-- for the CM7 nightly build. Should I install it? I'm sure I'd like to overclock my Nook to over a gigahertz, but I wouldn't like losing the stability and fumctionality of the nightly build I'm using.
Thanks in advance for any assistance y'all can offer.
Looks like the launcher is sorta corrupt. Try a different launcher that will work. Go Launcher EX (free) on the Market. Launcher Pro Plus is the best I think but it costs a little amount. Oh, but if you want to really stick with the stock launcher, go into Settings>Applications>All>ADW Launcher. And uninstall it. Then re-flash CM7 Nightly + Gapps and it should be restored.
First... on the launcher screen... use menu... more.... make sure homescreen is not locked.... Then it will do as you're used to regarding placing on launcher screen.
Actually... you don't have to unlock desktop... just wiggle finger when the menu you are talking about is up.... you will have to unlock desktop to move the item or delete it if you want.
Now I will edit this to answer more... just wanted it posted before you did anything as drastic as replacing or reinstalling your launcher...
The CM7 user thread in the Nook Color section is a great place for discussing all things NookColor CM7 related.
What the catalog does is....
You can place apps in a catalog... then when you're in app drawer then the left and right app launcher buttons turn to < >... use them to move between catalogs... ALL apps will still show everything... but in each catalog will show only the apps you add to it... so you can create a catalog called "Utils" and place all the Nook Color and CM7 utilities in it... scroll to is and ONLY those apps will show on the screen.
As for Dalingrin's OC kernel... if you're not using it and his NookTweaks... you are TRULY missing out... STRONGLY encouraged to use them.
Oh and don't OC past 1.2 GHz in NookTweaks.... it will give you SOD every hour.
Thanks for the quick response. I didn't know about the long-press-and-wiggle technique, and it worked like a champ.
Do I have to start over to install Dalingrin's mod? Does it replace this operating system entirely?

That is a pretty dumb blanket statement especially when there is a percentage of users who have hit 1.3GHz and higher without getting a sod. I get them less then once a day. I used to get them as often when I was at 1.2GHz. So please don't misinform people

Well, when I went any higher than 1.2 GHz, I got sod every other hour. When I clocked up to 1600 Mhz, the thing got SOD like every 5 minutes.
EDIT: @PoisonWolf, do you know how to get up to 1.6 GHz no SOD? I would love to be faster than the Flyer... which is double the price.
C'mon, people. We provide feedback based on our own experiences and it's not always 100% true but still, no need to use harsh words to correct the mis-info. Be nice and together we can build a strong community.
Anyway, even though I'm using Dalingrin OC 063001 version and nookcolortweak installed, I cannot ever seen any option to overclock greater 1200MHz, how do you guy get up to 1.3GHz, left alone 1.6GHz? What kernel do you use?

Well, to be able to get up to 1.6ghz, that is really the luck of the draw. I would gather that the manufacturing process is not perfect and not all chips can achieve such speeds. If anything, I would imagine there to be a range on the "limits" of these chips.
I found out that mine was 1350 mhz. No matter what I did, anything higher than that resulted in clunky responses, choking, skipping, etc.
I was hoping I'd get something in the 1.5 ghz range, but ah well.
Thus, I now run it at 1.3 ghz ondemand!
Just tinker around with the combinations / voltages / governors to see what your true limitation is. While you are doing this, do NOT set anything ON BOOT.

[q] consistent fps??

I have finally found a great rom (pinnacle 1.2) after a string of good looking and poorly functioning roms [early apex releases(no offense, new apex is incredible)] or extremely ugly with fantastic functionality roms (fasty, again no offense, really.)
It seems I am closer and closer to my only fantasy with my Samsung SGH-I897 Captivate. I DESPERATELY WANT CONSISTENT AND HIGH FRAME RATE
Watsa's Pinnacle is sooooo close, but every now and then it slips up and gets real laggy. I flashed the tw 4.5 mod, and that made a big difference, but it seems the frame rate is low and speed is high (which is great) but it still doesn't cater to my true love and desire .
I have watched multiple reviews of other stock smart phones (ie Xperia Arc, Nexus S, etc...) and it seems that they don't have a problem OUT OF THE BOX with performance and frame rate. For us Captivate owners, however, we have to go on this big hunt for better performance because the stock rom runs like S--T (again, maybe it's me or just my phone.)
Maybe it's only me . Maybe I'm doing something wrong. So that's why I'm extending my hand to anyone who can help. I am looking for a consistently high frame rate for my phone with some solid performance. If anyone can show me the tricks of the trade, or the secrets of fashion, I will forever be in debt to you (and possibly write you your own personal jingle [Im a professional musician] and send it to you in your honor)
For the record, I'm still really excited that XDA and it's community has made my phone the way it is today. I love that everyone on here isn't an 1/8 as bad as any youtube dbags. The support is incredible (shoutout to watsa) and everyone is more than willing to help. THANKS XDA!
EDIT: Hell, Ill write you a song. Just PM me three things about you and It'll be in your inbox in a matter of days.

If there is evil in this world it lurks in the hearts of man.
lol I feel sorry for OP. Ok I will start with it. I get ~ 45 FPS on KH3 Its controlled by kernel and if you want a higher FPS I am sure you would need a custom kernel which obviosly isnt available for KH3 yet.
If this is your priority no 1 then you need to jump off ship to an I9000 ROM with a highly customizable kernel like Talon.
Alright, all Im asking is iphone-like smoothness. Ive never seen that on the captivate, and Im hoping people can prove me wrong.
Oh nooo u didn't ?! There is no "i.." (the one we shall not speak of) in this comunity ,only we or us
As watsa mentioned earlier I'd too recommend you to switch to i9k based roms and then go for talon (oc/uv will set you straight).

As much as I hate to @ChadH42, this isn't proper for the Dev section. This belongs in General. Sorry. I might be wrong but this isn't a development type thread.. It's information.

Serious Lag on TeamLava Games

Has anyone experienced this?
Although at first when I downloaded Bakery Story it seemed to have a lag like a wounded turtle crawls which made me doubt that my device is starting to suck but after when I downloaded Restaurant Story I had the same thing in front of me which made it certain that my Raider 4G is innocent. I have read a thread on the storm8 forum but there nothing or no one seems to be willing to resolve what's occuring. These are interesting games but wonder what is causing them to lag.

No rom, completely stock.
I'd blame poor memory management in ICS...
You can try raising your minfrees...
Any of the kernel tuning apps will let you...
If not that... Then its the 1.2ghz CPU clock speed...
I don't see why you wouldn't be running PAC or are you holding out for the return of cm?

My laptop's motherboard fired up a couple of months back and I haven't been able to get that replaced since, I don't have any other system in spare that I can use so I can't flash anything at the moment.
I've read in a thread that these games are not optimized for dual core processor phones yet, no word from TeamLava. Convinced me to believe that?
And from 'raising minfrees', what exactly do you mean?

It would affect androids low memory killer...
Get kernel tuner...
Look for either minfree or OOM on the main screen..
Choose either aggressive or very aggressive...
Try your game...
Hopefully your rooted... Or else this prolly won't work

Yup, there's an issue with their games.
Tried setting the OOM to very aggresive, same thing.
Edit: Playing it on my sister's Acer Iconia B1-A71 with stock Jellybean (4.1.2) and it works like a charm!
So it seams there's something seriously wrong with the stock ICS with HTC Sense, it really sucks because the Iconia also has a dual core processor and this game works great on it.
Although on my Raider, while the game is on, I press the back button of the capacitive phone buttons and the screen displays a dialogue saying 'Are you sure you want to quit this game?', and while I look back in the game, everything runs silky smooth. This is strange.
@rignfool
Does this mean I need a new rom?
