Guys, check out this Toggle 2G by TheMasterBaron:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739530
It works for me. I flashed the signed version via OR and then installed the Notification plug-in apk so that I can control when it should or should not toggle from 2G to 3G,
bcs sometimes I turn on the screen to check the time or sms or use some non data related apps....so not necessary to switch to 3G when screen turns on.
I am not sure what rom You are using but on CM7 it's better to use 2G/3G toggle form notification bar (toggle 2G takes memory). To preserve battery life I am on 2G almost constantly. One thing to notice that 62KernelTweak speed up 2G noticeably. I am very rarely use 3G as 2G is fine with this tweak. I am form Poland, Play network.
Edit:
I don't noticed any improvements in wifi or 3G with 62KernelTweak

Is there any apps out there that will switch my phone from 3G to 2G when the screen goes off, or if the screen has been off (the phone is on sleep) for a certain amount of time, and back to 3G when I bring the phone out of sleep?
No, it can't be done. Google has imposed that in order to change between 2G/3G you have to go to the network configuration page and change it manually. It can't be done automatically.

Click to collapse
there is this small wigdet i use on my homescreen so i can toggle 2g and 3g.
its called
2g-3g onoff
or just search 3g widget in market to find it faster.
Do you know why they're imposing that?
using cm6 vanilla froyo sept09
i notice that when it reverts to 1x the signal strength increases dramatically
id love to be able to toggle force it is it possible?
goto add widget and select the power control widget, once in there add the option of 2g/3g that should work.
edit: odd doesn't seem to be working. ass in the cyanogen q and a thread.
yeah it doesnt work neither for stock fw
what im looking for is pretty much switching from preferred evdo mode to cmda only as at my moms place 1xrtt is much stronger than 3g
Uh, why would you want 2g ONLY?
for one it has a stronger signal in certain places i frequent and it is better than roaming
slow data is better than no data
Hi,
I once heard that some modems can change from 2G to 3G and vice versa, so that when you have data on, you'll be connected to 3G (or H, for that matter) and when you turn data off, it will automatically change into 2G.
I want such a modem since I get much better signal with 2G, so my device consumes much less power, but it would be nice if I can turn data on and have it change to 3G/H, without having to uncheck "use only 2g networks".
Is there such a thing?
Thanks.
Not that I have knowledge of and im almost certain that's controlled by the ROM it will only auto switch when 3g is out of range

Was wondering if anyone seen slow toggle between networks on the note4. I realized that the phone takes a long time to switch between 4G and actual LTE or from 3G to 4G, etc.
Is there an app or Xposed module that will toggle faster or scan networks for the fastest Internet? Looking for something that doesn't kill battery life.
Hey guys, I have a question.
I have an Airtel 4G connection which I guess isn't stable in my location and sometimes the little cross under the signal icon comes up instead of LTE. What I want to ask is why doesn't it switch to 3G or 2G?
I have to manually go to the mobile network settings and change Preferred Network Type from GLOBAL to TDSCDMA/GSM. And then the 3G and E icon comes up and internet works(according to the respective speed).
The worst thing is that the LTE toggle in the drop down tiles section switches it to CDMA/EvDO option which is of no use! I have to go all the way inside into the settings and do the change.
I've used many roms but the problem persists.
Can I set the toggle to always go to TDSCDMA/GSM from the LTE tile itself?
Why isn't the Global mode or LTE/TDSCDMA/GSM mode doing the switch automatically according to the available signal?
Thanks in anticipation..
