i am doin this apps2ext via sileshn's method ..
i jus wanted to make sure abt one step ..
in his procedure it is mentioned not to do step 3 if ur rom supports app2ext which the latest miui does .. so does it mean like after copying the contents back to the sd card i shud jus reboot and continue with step 4 .. no goin into AOR n all ?
jus making sure cuz i dnt wanna screw up nething ..
k i got my answer .. tht is the correct way to do it .. nw this is quite a stupid thread lol ..
i did the partition using minitools .. n then when i tried to open the sd card to copy the orignial files into fat32 im getting an error tht to use this i have to format the disc in drive f before i can use it .. im using a sd card adapter ..
wht do i do nw
i formatted n nw im left with only 6.39gb n i cnt c the 1 gb i kept for ext2 .. ???
how do i get it back .. come on experts .. plz help ..

LOL. Of course u cannot see the Ext 2 partition on a Windows Pc. Ext 2 is a linux partition which a Linux pc or android phone can see.
We cannot see Ext 2. The Android phone with the ROM that support ext 2 will automatically install apps into this hidden partition.
actually the fckup was tht i dint do the partition properly .. sileshn helped me out
so nw how will i knw wht all is ther in my ext2 ?

Use root explorer and you should see a folder called sd-ext and it should contain app, app-private and dalvik-cache I believe.
k new problem ---- i have made my ext-2 arnd 1gb .. i feel its a waste of space as i have only 8gb .. i wanna reduce it to 300mb ..
how do i go abt doing it nw ..
if i format n do the whole procedure again of partitioning will i lose all my apps .. cuz they r in ext2 n not in the phone .. ??? kind of confusing how does this work ?

Try using TitaniumBackup to backup your apps to the SD Card, then make a backup of your SD Card and try formatting again. First thing to do though is to check and see if TB sees your apps.

Is it work on Android 2.1? Anyone tried already?
Does anyone know how to check the partition is ext2 or ext4? Thank you.

well i must say that fist you need a ext2 partition in order to install apps on an SD card
the easy way to create an ext2 part is via the new open recovery it an the proses deletes all current data on your SD card so you must back it up (I also recommend a 2.1 custom room with this featured added, i personalty have 2.2 custom room on mine)
whats your main language (cuz it does not seem to be English) can you tell me which was your procedure
You sound like you're still in the beginning, so i got something for ya.
There's an app called iAPK.exe (version 0.2), if you can't find it on google, msg me and i'll pass it to ya.
All you need to do is fire up that app, (of course with phone connected), then simply drag any apk over it.

In your System/etc/init.d you'll find the mount script for link2SD, changing the text that reads 'ext3' or whatever to 'ext4' will allow you to mount as ext4 (assuming you already have an ext4 partition).
But, you cannot create an ext4 partition with cwm. Ext3 I've found to be just as good, and cwm does it for you (which also sucks if you ain't got your computer, since it'll wipe your SD card, so you need a backup)
Roms, check latest apocalypse, aa, lewa. Cm9 is beautiful, but I couldn't keep it for daily use cuz of battery drain and the random fc while using multiple apps.
cm9 is smooth and stable enough for me to use for daily. I also recommend you to try AA, it is very fast, unfortunately the author discontinued the rom,so there are a few bugs. In my opinion it is the fastest rom, here is the link:

If you want to do it from phone, then first, mind that this will wipe your SD card. Boot into CWM,then advanced, then Partition SD card, now select EXT4 size, then it will ask yu for swap size, select 0mb,you are done

I thought cwm only partitioned ext3 format, how do you get it to do it in ext4?
I installed data2sd script and got 960mb as internal storage on my rooted HTC Salsa using stock ROM . But after I rebooted the device , I lost all of my applications . The phone's memory still shows that it is being used , but, there are no apps.
Why does this happen all the time ?

How many partitions are there on sdcard???
Stock kernel does not support swap partition, if it's there, remove it
Hit thanks buddy if this worked
see my app sig at your own risk :
sent from my W8 running on armv7 processor problem??
check your partition in link2sd. maybe no space or full.so it cant detect.
try to recreate your partition.using mini partition tool.
minimum edition
Usb Mount sd from recovery then repair it using windows chkdisk
(Better to use card reader if u have one )

Is the MIUI ROM that you try to use is Jellybean or Gingerbread? I saw your post in the MIUI JB but here you say GB. When you format the SD card, ext should be logical. Which recovery do you?
