Ive been thinking more and more of some overklocking here and Im running this ROM so I can overlock. Im running SetCPU for running different profiles and lovering CPU speed to save battery. I know it can overlock too with doing the setcpu.txt files but how do you increase voltage in the textfile?? Or can I run Pimp my Cpu at the same time as SetCPU without problem?
What speed/voltage is safe and draws not too much more battery??
And yesh Ive searched for this but didnt really found any good information..
I think use Pimp my Cpu only is better, it's because most x2' kernel developers suggested to use it.
I prefer stable rather than saving battery. If you having serious problem of battery drain, please wipe the battery stats while your battery is full(for make sure it's full, keep charging 2hrs after 100%)

What speeds and voltages are you running? PMC suggests certain voltages at some overclocks, I assume you should follow them?

For those of you who have used cooked WM6.1 ROM's, have you had to overclock your Wizards? If so, by how much?
i use battery status and use the CPUScaler option for minimum i use 121 and for origional 195 max 195 but for boost 260 this in my opinion gives me the best battery life to speed ratio
, Sorry, but I haven't understood a single thing you said there... So is overclocking necessary to have a useable phone? Or best to stick with WM5.0 if you don't want to overclock...
overclocking is not neccesary, but it does give a significant speed boost in most ROMS, regardless if they are 6.1 or not
How does this effect the temperature of the CPU? Does it get significantly hotter & thus likely to burn out quicker...
as far as i can tell ive been using my phone for over a year and have found absolutly no problem with over clocking besides the extra battery drain
And what i was explaining b4 was the options i used on the overclocking program batterystatus theres an option called CPUScaler that allows u to variate the cpu speed this gives u the best of both worlds ie when ur using it for something heavy it will increase the cpu speed to the level u specify but when its not under heavy usage it will underclock (ie go to a slower cpu speed thereby decreasing the drain on ur battery).
And yes overclocking does give a significant boost to performance on any of the roms even wm5. Theres no harm in trying it so give it a try and you would see for yourself, if u dont like the way it works just uninstall the program and your done no problems and no long term effects.
I have been using setiron's reoriented kernel for awhile now with the Voltage control app set at -75mV for 100, 200, & 400mhz and -50mV for all other frequencies. I am not having any stability issues and the voltages are sticking after reboot. However, I was expecting a pretty significant increase in battery life due to the undervolting and I have seen next to nothing. Battery life is not bad by any means but in real world use is pretty comparable to what I was getting at stock voltage.
people seem to be reporting really big increases in battery life, so I'm a little confused. have I not UV'd by enough? if that were the case I would expect to see at least some battery improvement.
I wiped battery stats/recalibrated the battery when I flashed. I do have BLN enabled, but my understanding is that this causes a really small amount of battery drain. any thoughts?
How much % of battery you loose after night|?
while idle with the screen off (background data enabled) I lose about 1-2% per hour. I lost 10% overnight most recently and I was asleep for 7 hours. that is about the same that I was getting at stock voltage.

If you are in a weaker signal area, then the cell phone radio is going to work just as hard no matter what the CPU voltage.

Battery drain can be a symptom of i9000 kernel and captivate modem.
Changing the modem and keeping 850mhz is a multi step process. I tried the kernel you are talking about but it's over rated.
if you want battery life flash a 2.1 rom and use unhelpful's kernel, 1.4.1 was the most stable on my phone but it doesn't have voodoo. 1.6 has voodoo and 1.7 has voodoo and clockwork recovery if I remember right. But I had random restarts, others did not report the same problems so who knows.
I would wait for captivate froyo source to drop. I'm getting decent life with cognition and no undervolting.
Edit after reading the whole thread your battery life seems normal, I don't see any problem, you can try more undervolt but test the phone completely. Make sure it doesn't freeze randomly, or on shutdown. Also test it with the charger plugged in, extra heat from the battery charging can affect stability.

I'm using temasek's UNOFFICIAL BUILD 130 + temasek default kernel. Every time then my battery percentage reaches 20-30 % phone shuts down. with battery monitor tool i see huge battery percentage drop. then i turn on phone, battery percentage gets back to where it should be (screenshot attached).
is there anyone having same issue and knows how to fix it?
Boot into the recovery menu and wipe the battery stats. Or download the battery calibration app, let your phone charge to 100% and then calibrate it.

Wiping battery stats has no effect on the battery life. Diane Hackborn, an Android Developer, has elaborated on this matter on Google+.
I guess you have "Pimp My CPU" running and it is set up to save battery when reached 30% or 20%. It would do so by clocking down CPU, undervolting or both. Your Device seems not to like low Voltage, slow clockspeeds or both and shuts down.
If you have not set up Pimp My CPU yourself, your kernel is maybe set up to do just that.
Set Pimp My CPU up manually to not go to the lowest possible clockspeeds and to not UV.
im just wondering how much does the governerr effect battary life? i changed from ondemand to smartass2 and im not sure i see any diffrent...
and im scheduales which one is best for multitasking and which is for when playing games?
and should i change the governerr setting?
i also read that sleep_ideal_frequency should be 200 and not 100 beacuse 100 wastes more or something like that, is that true?

I use Performance governor all the time for 3 months now, battery life is same as on demand, smartass v2 or any other governor, except my phone lags much rarely than on any other govenor. For those that dont know, CPU of PC, your phone, calculator or anything else always works at 100% of its frequency even it has no work to do (Let's take for example your PC, even cpu usage is 5%, CPU still works at full frequency, the same works for your phone), so to me there is no point of any other governor except for Performance. If you have problem with battery life, it's mostly your screen. When I drain out my battery, my battery mostly get drained by screen (70-90%), I use about 0-30% of brightness always. Screen of 60-100% brightness will probably drain your phone's battery in 2-3 hours.

This is so wrong its a pain to read.:banghead: Why do we have the max and min frequency options in the semaphore app? Why do we have "Max Performance" and "Max Battery" power settings on laptops?

There was a thread some while ago that concluded in OnDemand and Performance being to two to give longest battery life and best performance.
I don't have specifics or even a link, but the thread was about schedulers and governors and which went together for best performance and battery life. I'm sure it's google'able

lets say i use smarassv2 since its faster will my phone drain lets say insted 20%\hour - 22%\hour? or is it more then that?

There should be a significant impact regarding battery life when using Performance for example. But it also depends on what you are used to. If you play games all the time or do heavy tasks, the governor will kick the CPU to 100% all the time anyway. But if you mostly surf on the Internet or read texts there's no need to let the CPU go rampage.
Oh and Btw: Modern CPUs in notebooks or computers in general clock themselves down as well when they're idle.

I'm totally a rookie for modify the kernel, but i wish to get better battery life for my nexus 6. So i read often that changing the CPU Maximal/Minimum Frequency - for example for the franco.kernel or Lean Kernel or other kernel - almost everybody get a better battery life and no wake locks. At the moment i use the nexus 6 stock with no custom software, but the battery life isn't very good.
My questions now: How can i setting the right CPU Maximal/Minimum Frequency for the franco.kernel or Lean Kernel or other Custom Kernel? Are there specific apps? And the most important question: Which are the right numbers to set for the CPU Frequency?

first off, questions go into the q&a/help threads, not general. and there are many cpu control apps to use, some free, some paid. thats the way for you to setup your cpu anyways you feel like. and there is no such thing as the right numbers, you need to find the right numbets for your use. me, i overclock to 3033mhz, and still see 5.5-6.5 hours of sot.

You shouldn't necessarily change the minimum and maximum frequencies because they won't necessarily save you battery.
When you look at the mex frequency of 2650 MHz, that's how many clock cycles there are per second. 2,650,000.
Every task you do on your phone will complete within an amount of clock cycles. Let's make some things up to illustrate this. Let's pretend that it takes Facebook app 5,000, 000 clock cycles to open. That means it would take nearly 2 seconds. If you set your Mac CPU frequency to half of stock, that app is going to take twice the time to open. The question is, will running running at 1267 MHz for 4 seconds use less energy than 2650 MHz for 2 seconds?
Looking at the voltage table for elementalx, the stock voltages are 890mV and 1110mV so it seems to me that since the voltage for half the max frequency is a lot higher than half the voltage of max frequency, running a task for twice as long would use more energy than max.
Surely, there will be tasks that take significantly fewer cycles than max frequency, so in those instances it may seem a bit more balanced, but its one of those things you're going to have to just try for yourself. Some people seem to get better battery though personally I'm not tempted.

no. kernels generally wont give you better battery life, but they can help you. battery life is dependent on how you use your device, how you set up your device, what apps you installed and use, your brightness, and the quality of your phone/data connection. and much more other things that weigh in less then these on nattery life.
some apps you install can be badly written, and take lots of battery, even though you rarely use. dropping brightness can increase your battery life. i keep my brightness below 15% usually. if i raise it to 35-40%, ill see a whole hour less screen on time.
