while on Yahoo Mail with the email with the text you want to copy open, tap on menu -> more -> select text. the text is auto-copied to clipboard afterwards.

in thinkfree office there is a clipboard icon on the upper right that when tapped gives you a menu with copy / paste options...
if using docs to go, tap on menu -> edit -> paste.
hope this helps..

Right now I'm using Htchomeplug JUST for the link to create a new SMS. I would like to be able to add this app link to the HTC Home (v. 2.1) > Launcher tab. I have tried linking the app, adding the registry keys/entries and I don't know why it's not working. I don't think HTC Home recognizing the same entries that htchomeplus recognizes.
Is there any way I can make this work, or is there a basic app out there that will launch a new SMS? Thanks!
Try this - just put it in your Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder. You can then asign it to a button, put it on the launcher tab, or whatever you like.
There is a great app which I use called HTC Action Menu which allows you to create New SMS/MMS, Email, Doc, Note, Appointment, Contact etc and you assign a button to run, which is in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340803

You can't do copy and paste from gmail app. Whenever I need to do that I use the browser version (gmail.com)

I can do this on the Opera app, but not on the gmail app.
Press Menu -> More -> Select Text -> Copy.
Copy and paste requires ridiculous acrobatics and renders these phones as toys. I received one to test for our work fleet roll out and was shocked at the terrible text editing capabilities and near impossible copying from the browser.
This is after using win5,6 phones.
It seems the pda phone is truly dead with all the multimedia phones around. Particularly the lack of buttons...
Try the copy paste app from market. It even has OCR built in. Its really very easy even to copy text from images.

It all depends on the software sadly, Get K-9 to replace your mail app and something like Xscope or another browser,
Xscope lets you "SHARE" the www address bar, from that menu you can pick COPY or email to email .
Or you could try on the market for 3rd party cut and paste apps.
I can give you a way to cut/copy/paste the user-input text:
Assuming you're using Swype, place your finger over the bottom leftmost key (key with a swiping hand image) and swipe it to the immediate right key (SYM).
You'll reach the editing options, where you'll find multiple text editing options.
However, it you're referring to being able to copy text from webpages, e-books, etc. I don't know how to do that.
Good Luck

well thx for infos guys if i find some nice app i will leave a feedback here
Best way to do this is using K9 which sadly doesnt support threading view yet, or using the gmail app on the browser and copy pasting from there
Its a similar dilemma to the iphone app :<
Hi all --
Searched for help on this, but nothing seems to cover the specifics I'm looking for. My wife would like to copy text in her email app on her bionic, and sometimes the text is very long. She's unable to slide the copy text "anvil" (not sure what else to call it) past the bottom of the screen so she can continue scrolling down and copy all the text in the email -- in other words, she can only select one screen's worth of text in an email. Is there a "select all" or "copy all" function so that she can copy all the text in long emails?
Thanks so much in advance!
Sadly, there is not. I tried making a reply, accessing Swype's hidden menu (swype information icon and SYM) and using select all, but that method was unable to select the original message.
You're going to need to research third party email apps.

Thanks, that's what I suspected. So odd that this simple function is unavailable.

The lack if this feature looks even more silly due to the ease with which a text message may be copied.

It's a little convoluted, but I've discovered Maildroid has the ability to do this if anyone is interested...
I figured it out. Press respond, scroll down to the message, press the "respond inline" button, then select and copy.
