did you use CWM from Rom Manager?
This is NOT optimized for the SGT.. nor is it encouraged.
Anyhow, have you tried to check if your computer can detect your tab, through Kies or Odin?

Yes I did use CWM from Rom Manager
Kies says connecting but doesn't ever connect
Odin3 says 0:[COM6]
so what can I do?

what you can do , is go grab the stock gingerbread and flash it via odin and then take the root file and u'll have both gingerbread and also the cwm ...
follow chainfire steps and u'll do it in 4mins

You the dude
Sent From (I'm In Luv With My Tab)

similar problem....also stuck on boot
but I got there a different way. (FIXED)
Let me start off by saying I am stupid I have a tmobile tab and it was running awesome on overcome 2.0.0 rc1 with ext4 conversion and OC kernel and then I saw the honeycomb alpha had been released for cdma, which of course I dont have (gsm), and decided to try the rom with the oc gsm kernel, which didnt work.
then I dun goofed. Instead of going back to overcome in cwm, I flashed the damn experimental honeycomb package again, kernel and all and then loaded the tab.....dumb...weird colors and then nothing....screen just goes black and no matter what I cannot see cwm screen. And now odin no longer recognizes the tab.
heimdall works and I flashed back kernal from :[OC/UV][7th Jun][Kernel] koxudaxi kernel [GSM][2.2&2.3][KernelPatch]
which gives me cwm, but it keeps giving me an error that i cant mount sd card
I have tried flashing the safe gingerbread stock with pit file (still stuck on boot logo)
then tried flashing rotostock tmobile rom ( but no pit file and when it boots it still shows the gingerbread bootlogo)....do i flash with P1_add_hidden.pit added?
Any and all help will be much appreciated. please don't be too mean. I know i shouldn't have done what i did
[UPDATE]
So I figured it out. I reinstalled samsung usb driver from within odin folder, and odin suddenly started working. went back to stock GB and then on to Overcome 2.0.0 Gold w/ ext4 and oc'd to 1.4
I had to reinstall the hiemdall driver too after reinstalling samsung driver, but now they both work again....... so stoked

[Q] Bricked device caused by broken TWLauncher

G'evening guys,
got a little bit of a problem here. My (european) Samsung Galaxy S is screwed. As soon as I boot it up, it loads a custom flashed TWLauncher which immediatly crashes. I can click the message away, but then after a few vibrations it will crash again. I can put it in Kies Mode, but I can't get Kies on Win to start some kind of recovery.
If I try to get into the bootloader, I'm only gonna see the default Samsung bootloader. I tried to push an update.zip on the phone, but it would not install due to some kind of signature errors.
Story first:
1. Rooted it with Superoneclick v1.4
2. Installed Recovery Manager. Not sure if some kind of recovery has been installed, at least none permanent.
3. Updated TWLauncher with SGS Tools in Flash
4. Did a factory wipe
I already tried loading a custom firmware via Update.zip and searched for an official update.zip, but didn't found one.
Also tried to push an older TWLauncher via adb, but this failed as I couldn't use su.
So, does anybody have a clue on how to solve this? Or will the only way to fix it be a send-in to Samsung?
LOL!!!
bricked just because of TWLauncher......
I think that is not brick.....

sry for my english
thx for your answer i have tried a few times to flash my sgs with odin but it didnt work . i have started my sgs into the downloding mode and then i start odin to flash and then it does nothing
did you use a guide for flashing through odin? is your phone drivers installed on your computer? what kind of error?
Alright buddy, I agree sounds like you need to reflash a new rom.
Check out this link. By no means am I ordering you to flash darky's rom (even though it is bloody brilliant) It's a good guide for using odin.
If you follow it down to part 2 of the guide then you will have a basically stock Gingerbread with a few tweaks to make it a better experience.
Be sure to read it carefully as some of it isn't necessarily for you.
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...g-rc6-need-to-flash-dark_core_2-2-first.2382/
All credits go to darky, ficeto and ceriko obviously for the rom & guide.
Good luck
It's only a BRICK if the device is completely unrecoverable. This isn't even a soft-brick... the launcher just crashed.
Flash a new rom with ODIN;
or Flash a Kernel with CWM recovery via ODIN, and then boot into recovery.
Odin will work; just make sure you've got the drivers installed.
@kilokilo1066
thx this was a good idea but now i have the problem that odin is standing on set Partition and that over one hour what should i do ?? cancel odin and tried again ?
Thanks for your help my sgs is working again the thread can be closed
You made it sound as if your phone was bricked! lol
I'd recommend you to install the Darky ROM 9.5.
I myself am a totally new Android and Galaxy S user. The first thing I did after unboxing my phone was to flash Darky's 9.5 on it. Its brilliant.
Here's the guide.
EDIT: Turns out I'm not allowed to post links. Well use google!

[Q] Stock Gingerbread flashing problem

Hello and sorry bad english!
I have a problem that I can't flash back a stock Gingerbread rom with Heimdall. I'm now using CM7 and I would like to test new Overcome.
I followed closely Overcomes's guide when trying to install GB_Stock_safe_v3. I put mr.pit (with 'repartition device'), factoryfs, zimage, modem etc. to the right place and started installation. Everything went well and without any errors. Tab starts booting well, goes over the Samsung logo, but stops when the "android" logo appears on the screen. I waited for half an hour but it didn't make progress any further.
I tried also Chainfire stock 2.3.3 rom as the same results, it won't boot.
I flashed CM7 back with Heimdall and all went well and Tab booted OK. CM7 is now the only rom that boots on my Tab. Before installing CM7 I had stock 2.3.3 in, but after CM7 they have not worked anymore.
Is there problem with CM7 ext4 conversion or what?
Thanks.
Edit: pretty interesting that after CM7 flashing all my settings, themes, programs, etc. returning back to the same state as before. So flashing the stock 2.3.3 did not delete/wipe any data even though I put mark and correct filepath to repartion device/ mr.pit, pda, zimage, param, boot, sbl, cache, dbd and modem boxes.
try it using odin 1.7 it should have also came in the stock safe.
After Chainfire's stock 2.3.3 you should flash dbdata.tar. That solves the stock on samsung logo problem, usually I should add.....

When flashing Heimdall there must be all the files in use if "repatition device" is enabled. Chainfire does not have a dbdata file in his .tar package. What dbdata I should use?

Ok, I think that this is the only way. Too bad I do not have Windows on my computer Maybe I need to borrow Win laptop.
With Froyo Heimdall worked always fine.

So I flashed that "attached dbdata file" on the 1. post as dbdata (repartion enabled) and after successful flashing I flashed that same dbdata file as PDA (no repartition). That's how I understand these instructions:
- "- Flash dbdata.tar as PDA (NO repartition)"
Well, no booting after that. Boot stops when the first "galaxyTab" logo appears. Earlier the boot went further.
I give up now. I think I have to use Odin. Luckily the CM7 still works fine . I stick to it.
thanks anyway

[Q] Galaxy S i9000 softbricked; won't enter recovery or reflash from download mode

Similar to Masterslackers issue.
The phone was originally a stock Optus Éclair 2.1. About 6 months ago I decided to customize the i9000 with a custom Froyo 2.2.1 Rom (Doc's Rom Docs_XWJS3_Wipe-v9_1) from “The ROM Kitchen”. It worked really well and was much faster and responsive..
Yesterday, I decided to look at a move to Gingerbread and cook another ROM @ the ROM Kitchen, this time a Gingerbread 2.3.4 iteration.
The phone was rooted so I used Rom Manager to get into recovery mode where I could flash my new, Doc's JVR_No_Wipe-v8-00-08-22-10-09-4e6a8e4e86718.zip Rom.
All seemed to go well, but after the Flash, as the phone booted the first screen became filled with 100s of random coloured lines, then it transitioned to the normal Samsung start animation, but soundless.
After booting, I noticed that I no longer had a notification bar where battery, time, signal strength etc. was normally displayed atop the screen. I tried several different launchers to see if that was the issue, but to no avail. I tried to enable the notification bar using Go Launchers gesture setting (no go)
I tried rebooting the phone over and over, the notification bar would not return.
I was starting to lament my decision to flash when the following occurred.
I tried to re-enter recovery mode via ROM Manager to install a different ROM, but the phone bypassed it and then hung @ the Samsung I9000 logo screen. I then had to power the phone off before it would reboot into its UI. I could no longer reach recovery mode by any means.
Because I was getting nowhere and I had read that after flashing a new rom, root would often be lost, so I tried rerooting with "XXJVP-Complete-Rooting-Package" from
http://androidadvices.com/how-to-root-galaxy-s-on-android-2-3-4-xxjvp-firmware/ This also failed but it has also left me with a soft bricked phone.
The phone will not boot up or boot into recovery now, however It would still boot into (3 button) download mode.
I have tried various versions of Odin from v1.0 to v4.28 to ReFlash the phone back to life but with no success yet.
Using Odin, the phone hangs with no sign of progress and reports the following when left for 30minutes or so.
<ID:0/003> Added!!
<ID:0/003> Odin v.3 engine (ID:3)..
<ID:0/003> File analysis..
Anyone have any suggestions that might help to get the phone back.
Thanks, TeZ
So you didn't flash stock gingerbread before flashing custom rom? so you should first flash stock jvr and do hard reset after booting. Then you are safe to flash cwm capable kernel and custom rom.
For the odin problems, maybe you have kies running in background? Kill all kies processes and try again.
And I'd suggest reading all guides found in romkitchen thread..it saves lots of trouble. Hope that can fix your phone

Agree with above post, if you have Klies on your pc/laptop uninstall it, and re download the drivers, i have a good 2.3.4 tutorial and root 2.3.4 tutorial, both with Odin, let me know if interested. Also if you have heimdall installed then uninstall it also.
After you unistalled Kies (or at least stop it) and installed the drivers , pick a stock rom with bootloader from Ramad collection http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881 .
I prefer Odin 1.82.
If you still unable to flash your phone, please follow steps from this guide to see how can debrick your phone.

Thanks for your input, right now i need all the help I can get, hadn't heard of heimdall before. I guess its one more thing I could try if all else fails. But right now I'm going to try a few more conventional things with odin, like flash a stock rom etc.

When moving from a froyo (2.2) rom to gingerbread, (2.3), you need the gingerbread bootloaders or you'll get all sorts of crap when turning on your phone (ie what you have).
Use odin to flash back to froyo, or flash a gingerbread firmware that comes with bootloaders. (I would recommend going back to froyo first to make sure everything is ok, since flashing bootloaders is a bit risky, as messing it up can permanently brick your phone)

Ok, here's where I'm at:
For the sake of simplicity I will detail what gave positive results rather than a tirade of what didn't.
Uninstalled Kies, rebooted
As instructed, went to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881
downloaded: Odin v1.82
downloaded: Gingerbread 2.3.3 (Australia and New Zealand)
XWJVN/XXJVQ/XSAJV5/Sbl (CSC: XSA): Download (150 MB) (Build date: Sun Jul 10 11:30:54 KST 2011)
Loaded up Odin and followed instructions.
Flash went ahead as normal and I now have a working phone again, thanks to you DSGE, I'm a very happy man
So I now have Gingerbread 2.3.3 installed and running.
My only issue's now is, that.
1. Half my apps dont work now or force close even after a reinstall.
2. Some apps won't install at all IE; my fav launcher; Go Launcher
3. I no longer have root access so Rom Manager and Titanium backup wont work.
4. My Backup Pro, works after I rewrote the correct path to the External Sd, but do I want to do that just yet? and just how much data should I reinstate so I don't corrupt the new system?
What should I do now?
Install busybox?
do a hard reset?
Flash a different Rom that will work for me?
Thanks so very much for all the good advise.
Cheers
First root the phone, then either a different rom, or format system and re install 2.3.3 or which ever u just installed, i think ure apps are not working due to the phone needing a wipe/reset and cache cleared from clockwork recovery

Using Android 4.0.3, trying to revert back to previous (2.3.6)

Hello,
I have a problem where with downgrading, it just bricks my phone. Can somebody step-by-step (and maybe help with links) post how to fix my phone? I'm considering just getting an iPhone now... I'm mostly fed-up with Android.

Second problem,
I tried to do a flash of the newest Cyanogen update (7.10) from the stock Odin, which worked quite well, and it didn't complete. Odin then decided to crash. After that, my phone is now stuck in "Firmware Upgrade Fail! Try using recovery mode". I can't get into Download mode, and I can't get into recovery mode. Any ideas?
I saw on the Rogers website that an iPhone 4 (8gb) is $0 on a 3 year contract

EDIT: When I try to use Heimdall, it says that it passes in the Heimdall frontend, but when I look at my phone on the screen, the progress bar never finishes. It just stops at about 90% (estimated)...
If you've installed Heimdall drivers, you will need reinstall Samsung drivers to get Odin to work.

Thanks! I'll try that as soon as it finishes installing. What would the way to install the new Cyanogen mod without bricking my phone be?
After flashing to stock, follow the install instructions in the first post of the CM thread. If you have questions about the installation, ask in the q&a thread for that rom (it's stickied in the q&a sub forum)
Downgrade to android 3.0 or 3.2
I have the same issue but i'm using samsung glaxy tab 10.1 and i want to downgrade to android 3.0 or 3.2, i'm on android 4.0.3 ICS, i used CM9 to root my tablet. I would be very thankful with any help!!

[Q] Major issues with the i9000 right now. Please Help.

Hey guys,
So recently I tried rooting my phone with CF-Root and Odin, and then it went into a boot loop of just the Galaxy S on startup.
I eventually found out about Heimdall and right now I'm running 2.2.1 Froyo with Build XWJSD.
Problem is, that the phone doesn't read the SD card? Like it will see the SD Card, scan it, and say it's finished scanning but then it won't let me access it either in CWM or through the Android UI itself.
Any ideas? I just want to get MIUI installed haha.
Well I just tested the SD card in another phone and it works fine. So it's definitely the software/rom I'm using now I think.
Is there anything I can do to make this work. Maybe like a completely stock 2.2.1, that is guaranteed to work haha? I just need this card to be read. Because even when I plug the phone and run Kies, Kies doesn't recognize the version of the firmware. And If I try to use superoneclick root, it also doesn't recognize the version of the firmware.
So right now I'm using 2.2.1 XWJSD, which stock rom should I install with odin or Heimdall to make this work?
Thanks a lot again.
Head over to this thread and download JVZ (Gingerbread 2.3.6), flash with Odin with re-partition checked, then head over to Chainfire's thread for CF-Root kernel for JVZ and flash that through Odin as well.
Forget about Kies since you'll no longer be using that to update firmware and whatnot.
CF-Root will come with CWM installed, so after you get that done, download MIUI and flash through CWM
Thanks a lot will try it out.
This CF-Root right? CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVZ-v4.3-CWM3RFS.zip
Unfortunately the phone is stuck in a bootloop now after installing 2.3.6 JVZ.
Did you make sure re-partition is checked? If it still bootloops after re-partition then try JVT or some other stock ROM and see if that boots up before applying the CF-Root kernel
Yeah I made sure re-partition is checked, and I installed it with the 512 pit file, unless I shouldn't be using the .pit?
your gona have to reflash the rom or install arom thats already rooted you could try darky 10.2 re or check out puggerduk on tube
Root Galaxy S i9000 and install a custom rom
Hey guys refer to this thread:

He's having the same issue, so just help us out there Thanks alot!

MIUI is running based on Android 2.3, I found the Android forum that helps me well enough to do my first flashing and rooting. Here is what you need to try to do:
1. Flash your i9000 with XXJVU 2.3.6 ( Value Pack ):
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjvu/
2. Root your I9000 with CF-Root-XX OXA JVU 2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxjvu-firmware/
Do everything on the post and you can install MIUI ROM from recovery straight away after that.
Hope this helps. If it does, please consider press 'THANKS' button
