Got my streak for about a week now, but problems now start to happen. 2 days ago my streak started to mess up when playing sound. Whenever I turn the volume to max while playing music or playing a game, or just watching a video, the sound that is supposed to be played would stop and instead starts playing a buzz noise. This noise would not stop until I restart the streak.
Also, the streak is now randomly restarting. It was just sitting on my desk and all of the sudden the dell logo appears. Anyone else have this problem? Should I just send it back and get a replacement?
Any help would be great!
I've been watching this thread to see if thar be any responses... nothing.
I have the same issues, I've been trying to find out more about it but I havent come up with much.
That being said I do believe this is a software issue. Froyo and Dells apparent lack of interest seem to be the most likely culprit.
I could ofcourse be completely wrong and we both have brand new toys that are busted :-(

I don't have anything helpful to add other than my Streak 7 has never displayed this kind of bahaviour.
Elvis, what did you decide to do? Did you send it in for replacement? I factory reset mine and so far other than some random lag and random resets, the sound issue is gone.
Z4nd4r, thanks anyway. I wish my streak behaves like yours.
One side question, in the next 2 weeks, before my return window closes, if I install the HC beta on my streak, can I still return it? Or do I have to downgrade it back to 2.2.2 without root before I return?

It's always a good bet to return it to stock unrooted if you return. They may not care (people have sent rooted/ROM'd phones in to service without issue in the past), but better safe than sorry. Just my $0.02.
well I still have it, havent decided what to do yet. I found a few instances of the same problem around the net but no one goes into much detail. Im back to stock/unrooted after using streak droid for a bit but after a few days of happy video playing the freezes/restarts came back. I want to put the stock recovery back on and do a full reset...but I havent really looked into doing it, if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be swell.
Okay I see. Thanks Z4nd4r. I think I might just leave it at HC cuz it is too much work to get it back down to 2.2.2
HallucinatingElvis, good luck! Is yours the wifi version? The stock rom for the wifi version is in this forum. One of the top posts. You should be able to find it easily.
Well I just fired off an RMA request to New Egg, I figure if im spending 300 bucks it should be able to play a frickin video without choking. Im simply asking for a new one, hopefully I wont experience the same issues otherwise ill try and see if they'll let me exchange it for something else. I really like the little bastard too...
Ohh aww. Its okay, when you get a new one it will be all better. Best of luck to you.

There are so many threads where folks *thought* they had bricked their NC but they were able to finally get it going again.
Short of physically breaking your NC, is there any way to truly brick it?
I got to a point where I could not get my Nook to boot stock or rooted, it would only run from SD-I think I formatted boot when I should not have. I tried every fix I could find and nothing would work. So I boxed it up and into a BN store, the Guy disappeared for 40 minutes and then came back with it working. He didn't want to tell me what they did but I assume they either keep up with the forums or have some other tool for bringing them back.

When you got it back, was it stock 1.01 or 1.1 or something else? Did they charge you anything? Warn you not to mess with it anymore?
I'm trying to get an understanding of possible B&N attitude to our doings....
i didnt tell them what I had been doing with it. i just told him that I received a notification to update to 1.1 and after I did the update it never booted up again
i am assuming that he knew what i was doing but just did not say anything. he did not charge me anything for bringing it back to life. he brought it back at first with 1.0.1 then I said it was the 1.1 update that caused the problem so he went back for another 10 minutes and came back with 1.1 on it and said he had to sideload that. he never at any point gave me any trouble or warnings - just kept trying to get me to buy screen protectors and covers!
i would love to know what they did to bring it back as i had tried everything i could find on the web!
So you just went to a local BN, and a bookstore clerk fixed it for you?
Either this was a very easy (yet still somehow secret) fix for him to apply, or BN has an outstanding internal training program, or your guy was in touch with his inner talented IT self.
I really would have expected that you'd need to send your NC to some warranty depot across the country to get fixed. I really wouldn't think that the local BN clerk could fix it. I really thought it'd fall outside the scope of their positions.
Thanks for this!

odly enough in the book on how to use your nook there is a part about rooting your nc for full market use, and no one at the B&N seemed to care that i did it with mine. they actually all want me to root theres for them =DDD
Yeah, I was really surprised. I figured they were going to have to send it out or they were just going to give me a replacement. I didnt expect them to fix it right there. I am glad they did though! I am sticking with custom nookie froyo 0.6.8 on SD for now!
Thank you for the quick replies! Mine is working fine, but it is great to know that if something happens I can't seem to fix, they will help!
I'm using Honeycomb 4 Release 2 on EMMC atm. I'm loving it! Will be glad when video is fixed on it, but I don't really watch videos much... So it is running everything I want and more!
I am positive it's unbrickable, though I've been attempting to revert it back to stock for 3 weeks now without any success. Not giving up yet.
If anyone cares, I compiled a thread on issues related to SD apps (CWR, roms) not loading successfully:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972012
The clerk at B&N was happy to talk about rooting the Nookcolor with me. Unlike at Verizon where I feel like a marked man when I walk through the door.
you got pretty lucky i think. most of them wouldve had no idea what to do. he probably has one himself he toys around with and pretty much knew what you did. no company is going to train theyre everyday clerks to unbrick a machine like that.
I think you are right on that
Hey just wondering, cause this happens to me so random if sometimes at all, but when it does its annoying. Sometimes the menu button or back button or so on the side doesnt respond. Sometimes it responds on the OPPOSITE side of the tablet till I flip it around.
Other things I get are sometimes the menu/keyboard will pop open and close randomly. Yet I dont know why.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this type of issue before?
Id hate to say its defective... hate worrying about replacing and redoing EVERYTHING.
My first S7 I bought on opening day had that problem and an upper level tech at Dell told me to go back to the Tmo store and exchange it. Apparently it IS a known glitch.

What's wrong with getting it exchanged? Do you have ClockworkMod recovery installed? If so, all you have to do is make a Nandroid backup, and backup the entire contents of the internal storage to your PC. Restore all those files onto the new unit, flash ClockworkMod recovery again, restore your Nandroid, and enjoy.
Maybe, I mean Ive been doing stuff since the G1, still AM using the G1 as my main, then a HD2 for media.
Never really used nandroid heh. So not fully sure how exactly it goes... I mean if its simple, sure then maybe, ok. Then I gotta get another screen protector... not like replacements give you a credit for that. =/
Mine did that from day 1. Got a replacement and its much better. Has not done it once. Was contemplating dumping it, but now I'm really enjoying the form factor, even though I'm not a huge android fan.

Ok I've had my revo for almost a year and I have to say this thing just keeps getting worse and worse. In the beginning the 3g data delay made me nuts, then with the Revolt rom it was fixed, then i started having super hot battery issues with up to 40% of my battery gone in less that 30 minutes. Upgraded to i belivee 1.4 and that fixed it.... With the factory gingerbread update I was really excited for the change and happy for about 3 days.. then serious memory lockup issues. Ive been on the latest Ginger Volt and kernel for some time now and my phone will unlock and work great.... about 1 out of every 3 times. Usually its so unresponsive to unlock my pattern is wrong. Then anything i access can take seriously up to 30 seconds to open. Typing is slow and facebook crawls. I have limited apps on my phone and zero games. Also when listening to music on an airplane if I try to access anything chances are my music will skip lol. When i try to answer a call i have to swipe atleast 3 times.. same goes for hanging up.. usually the other person has to! This phone is terrible in my opinion, I WILL SAY THE ROMS HAVE MADE IT BETTER, I DONT BLAME THEM AT ALL. My original motorola droid never had this many issues and honestly worked great as a phone. Since I do use it for work I'm really thinking about bailing on my contract and starting with ATT (i really really dont want to) but I cant afford a $700 iphone so its one of my only choices. Verizon will not do anything about this except give me a refurbished phone....they even exclaimed theyve had nothing but problems with this phone and do not recommend it to anyone....(perhaps thats just the salesperson's opinion). Any ideas? should i try a refurb or just bail on this thing all together?

I've never had issues with it. You could try a refurb or you could always have them send you a different phone like a tbolt our charge. Glad I've never had any issues with this phone I love it. I came from a og Droid and had nothing but issues with it.

Hello,
Just bought the HTC One three days ago. Everything's been fine with it, until this morning. I barely have installed any apps, I have like 7 pictures, and some music.
Whenever my phone is asleep, or the screen is "off", I hit the power button to wake it up, and seriously, without exaggerating, my wait is anywhere from 3 seconds to 6. I've already tried a hard reset and a soft reset.
Does anyone know the cause of this? Has this happened to anyone else? I can't seem to find ANYTHING on it. I'm aware a little lag is ok, but 5 seconds? Seriously? That seems unreasonable.
Call it a wake up delay, wake up lag, power button lag, power button delay, whatever.
I'm seriously concerned and doubting this phone at this point. I can already imagine the headache its going to be to convince Sprint or HTC its defective.
Go back to Sprint before the 14 days expire.
A lot of us are learning the hard way how bad HTC is, and how little care they have for quality.
When you get a good One, you have a great phone. Like, best in the business. Amazing, even. Good luck getting a good One.
Well, so far I see you guys have a love/hate relationship with HTC. Does anyone have a similar experience with my problem, though? :crying:

I've heard that some people had to go through 5 replacements before they got a device that was only minorly defective.
OP, you have entered the world of HTC (or a lot of Android hardware in general). Now you are stuck in it for 2 years. Take a deep breath, and lower your standards.
Damn. I'm not liking where this is going. I just can't believe no one else has had this problem. I can't find anything on it.
If they don't let you exchange it (which they definitely should), then try rooting it and using a different ROM. Idk if that would help seeing as you're on stock and the ROM should work perfectly

I just got my nexus 6, two and a half weeks ago. I am coming from a Verizon galaxy nexus, so I'm pretty good at unlocking, rooting, installing roms, and the like. I bought it at best buy because I broke my gn, and being they are the only ones that had any in stock, and I need a phone or im lost, I was on vacation visiting family. So I got the none branded one called Verizon got it up in running in five minutes after the 20 min wait to talk to someone.
The first few days I played with it as is never had a problem. So I unlocked it, rooted it and still not any problems. Then a few days later I noticed the speaker would crackle not big thing just noticed it. After that though another weird thing started happening if I answered the phone then decided to use speaker phone i could not hear the other person and they could not hear me, and going back off speaker didn't help till we hung up and recalled.. It does not do it ever time just sometimes.. I had not installed a rom just kept it Google 5.1.1, I really like the new Android. But I did unrooted, relock, factory reset. Then did it all again. Still get some of the problems but not as much. This last problem really pist me off. I had been in 4 states and service from Verizon was great in all but one of them. The one that it didn't not work in was in Missouri not even when I got to Springfield. It was late at night so none of the ton Verizon stores I seen were open, I could dial but not have net service. I tried restarting phone even did a factory restore after trying everything I could think of. That reset screwed me though because it made it a useless since I had no net and was unable to set it back up.. Also I couldn't stop at the ton of Verizon stores in the morning bc they didn't open till later in the day and I needed to get home. The weird thing is almost as soon as I crossed into OK the phone loaded up and started working internet and all.
So my question is, is this normal with these phones? And is their any way to make the radio better? It was on global in that setting so I switched to USA. Still seems to work fine now at my house.
Any help or tips would be much appreciated. Or should I try and do a warranty through Motorola?
I really like this phone and its a major improvement over the gn since we at Verizon got skipped with nexus 5. This battery is a beast 12+hrs doing a crap load of stuff on it rocks

The speaker issue is definitely a known issue. RMA is the only solution.
Crap that really sucks. Thank you though for the reply. Do you know with the RMA if I have to send the phone back first and wait, or will they send a replacement first? Also do they replace with a new one or reman?
I was really hoping it was something in the settings

May luck out and get new but at this point in the cycle probably refurb. Have to send in first or have creditcard they can hit for what it worth now to send first. Credit hit will be deleted once they show it coming back.
