Well I don't know what I did but this morning when my nookie froyo emmc was at 20 percent it decided to turn off and not turn on and won't turn on when charged and will not boot any sd cards. I feel stupid but after my nook working on emmc froyo for a week and now its not even turning on I feel very stupid. All help is appreciated, thanks!

Have you tried booting to the CWR card yet? And using Samuelhalff's zip that restores the stock partitions? This seems to have worked for many people experiencing the fatal Froyo crash. Take a look at the 'Easily Restore to Stock" thread found here in the Nook forums. And in the end if your device truly won't turn on, then chances are the guys down at B&N won't be able to either. *Warranty*
Well I have tried monster root pack as a card but I haven't tried stock partitioning,i dont know where the thread is. But will this let me even boot an sd card ?

And yes if you insert the CWR sdcard into the nook and hold the power button, it will power on. The reason it isnt powering on currently is because your froyo boot partition is corrupted, not because of the nook itself. The CWR sdcard has a different boot partition that your nook will see and boot to when you hold the power button down with the CWR sdcard in.

Thats my post from an earlier thread with someone having the same issues. It worked for him, it should work for you. Just make sure you follow the steps right and especially make sure your burning the Clockwork image to your SDcard correctly that way it will boot into Clockwork instead of staying black.
I'm gonna have to give these steps a whirl. The downloads are taking foreeeever.
Also had Froyo installed with CWM and just got finished installing gapps. I went to format an SD card, had no luck, and tried to reboot. Ol' Nookie decided not to come back to life after that.
edit: wait, instead of flashing the stock rom can I flash the pre-rooted 1.1 rom?
Just read this over on android central (in a thread about flashing honeycomb). I believe it is what I did and why my nook won't boot:
****While running Honeycomb from Internal Memory NEVER choose the option to format your SD Card from within Honeycomb. The files that were altered to let HC run internally will lead the OS to actually format your boot partition instead of your SD. If you need to format an SD, do it on your computer or in an Android phone, etc.*****

OK, I have CWM booting off the SD card, i'm formatting system and data under mounts and storage, and then i'm installing the 1.0.1 complete restore. It goes through and then I got to reboot system. Then...nothing. Back to black screen. Help please!
I can pop the SD card back in and boot back to CWM. I've tried several times now with no luck
samuelhalff has a flashable zip that restores the boot partition for situations like this. Go look for it in the development forum. you should be able to flash it using CWR and your NC ought to boot.

Mine just shows a blank screen. All I did was boot into ClockwordMod Recovery, make a backup, then reboot. I was going to flash the Honeycomb Rom, but decided to give it some more thought first. Now All I get is the blank screen, it won't power all the way off, and it won't power on or anything
EDIT: Managed to get it to turn off, but when I turn it back on it boots into recovery. I select Reboot System now, and it reboots back into recovery. Forgive me, I'm so new to this Nook Color thing lol
EDIT AGAIN: Tried using the Monster Pack or whatever, flashed the removeclockwork.zip, followed by the installclockwork.zip, then removed the SD card, rebooted, and went right back into Clockwork Recovery. What gives?
YUP Same thing happened to me. I have read all the posts in this thread and i did try to format the card i had in my nook in the brand new phiremod froyo rom. Now it wont boot at all. I have a CRW card on hand and it wont even boot that. Idk right now, nothing is working.

I've got the exact same problem as the OP. Running Froyo on EMMC with no problems for a few days, then I left it for a while and now it wont turn back on or boot from uSD.
I've tried long presses on the power key, usb cable power up, but nothing works. I've tried the v4 HC image and the clockwork recovery image and neither are booting.
I verified the CWR image on my android phone and it does boot on my phone, so the image is definitely okay.
Hate to think it, but could this be a battery management issue in the 0.6.7 image and the battery is now screwed? Doesn't seem like boot partition corruption to me.
Any comments or suggestions are welcomed

how did you get yours to turn off, my screen says loading... and is stuck there. any help in getting mine to shut off would be helpful
Does holding power button for a few seconds turn it off?

Sorry for asking what's probably a silly question, but I haven't seen an answer. Is this known to the Nookie dev(s) and being addressed? Just had it happen running Nookie 0.6.8 off the SD card. I was really enjoying it and just telling the wife how I think I'll flash it to the eMMC, but I might have to reconsider if this might occur. Battery was ~80%, no goof-ups reformatting anything. Locked the screen around 1:10 this afternoon & hadn't touched it since. Got home about an hour ago to turn it on, nothing. Disappointing, Nookie is pretty good!

so what to do if i dont have a sd card with cwr or honeycomb (what i was trying to run)ive already called for the replacement, but i would still like to know what to do.
I found this thread after suffering the same or similar problem to everyone else. I turned off the screen and set my nc aside for a few minutes, then it would no longer boot. Screen just stayed black and was completely unresponsive to any input. Working my way through some troubleshooting, I plugged the nc into my computer via USB and it booted into CM7 instantly. I have no idea why this happened, but it's working fine now.

First of all - please accept my apologies if this question has been asked before. I have searched the forum and I wasn't able to solve my problem in any way described (that I could find that is).
Second, and I know this sound stupid, but I honestly do not know what I did wrong and where I ****ed up. I have rooted my stock NC and it worked fine. I have also played around a lot with the Froyo from SD - and that too worked fine. Today I decided to give the CyanogenMod version on the built-in flash and that too went OK and it was running perfectly. At some point I accidently managed to boot it half-way up on a flash card and now the NC is half dead.
The NC still boot fine on the Froyo sd card and on the recovery flash I used to install the CyanogenMod, but without a flash card inserted, the NC is completely dead. I can press and hold the on/off button as much as I like, I can hold the nook button while doing on/off - nothing - and I do mean nothing happens.
I have tried the the flash stock-1.0.1-CRW.2.zip recovery that install a new /boot and it installs fine - but still - the moment I remove the SD card, the NC is dead again.
Any ideas? I feel I have tried pretty much everything.

You said you booted it up on a flash card? CM7 is not meant to be bootable on flash card.
No, after playing around with an installed CM7 it got to a point where all of a sudden it was completely dead without a flash card (not even a small flash on the screen when powering on/off) but with my Froyo 2.2 card inserted it booted just fine.
As it turned out I think I know what happened (basically because I just did it again). I used the CM7 "Format Flash" to prepare a clean flash card for storage - but when I do that it screws up the internal system (probably the /boot partition).
Anyway - the recovery flash that uses dd to copy the entire partition worked just fine.
Hello I recently got my refurbished Captivate from AT&T and it came running 2.1 Android. First thing I did with it was go and root it by downloading the update.zip to it, and that went all fine and well.
Next thing I did was get ROM Manager and installed Clockwork Recovery Mod, then went ahead and made a backup of my ROM. So from here I was getting ready to get myself ready for Cyanogen Mod 7, and grabbed the Clockwork Mod version with speedmod and installed that through the Clockwork Recovery.
After I did this the boot screen changed on my phone and would lock up at the Galaxy S SGH-1897 Samsung screen, which had replaced the 3g one by AT&T. The phone will just hang at this bootscreen for infinite amount of time, any suggestions on how to help?
I'd like to point out that I currently have no USB cable for this phone, I did not receive a micro USB with it as it is a refurbished product and do not happen to have any laying around. I do however have a micro SD card, in which Clockwork doesn't seem to support this.
I come to you asking for help to resolve said issue, I can no longer use my phone as a result. I've tried restoring my backup but the same replaced boot logo appears and refuses to actually start up the phone.
The 3 zips that I can access on the internal SD are
-the root.zip
-clockworkmod
-clockworkmod with SpeedMod
Any ideas?
First of all, you will definitely need a micro USB cable. You need to flash back to stock at the moment. Don't worry though, if it's still showing the boot screen your phone "should" be fine.
Second of all, for CM7 you need to follow the EXACT instructions to install CM7 (you can risk bricking your phone with CM7, unlike any other usual ROMs). Do you know, and understand all of the steps involved?
Sorry, but what were you doing? You need odin to install cm7 & without a cord you were never going to succeed.
As mentioned above you need a cord, and need to reread the instructions

Bought a new color nook two days ago and began rooting it after i bought it using the walkthrough here. I made the bootable SD and that went fine. Put the Zip for nooter on there and that went on fine. I got on and created an account with the android marketplace and all. Then I got the Cyanogen mod from their site, the latest stable version and tried to install it. Got stuck at the color splash loading screen. Turned the unit off and have been constantly messing with it and got it to boot to CM7 but i have no google apps and when i press the home button i am still getting 3 options (Zeam, Softkeys, and something else).
I have tried numerous times reloading MN but it will get stuck at the n screen and not do anything. Sadly my idiot self didnt make a backup before i started rooting and the erase to factory in CWM doesnt do much.
Any ideas? It seems like i might be able to just get by with getting the gapps and putting them on but i dont think it will be that easy...

UPDATE: Got the gapps to install but everytime i try and go to something in the market it force closes. Sounds like i need a wipe and start over but i am not sure..
make sure you have a class 2/4 sandisk(brand is what counts here).
Otherwise, I'd just reinstall everything over again through your cwm recovery disk.
As easy as it is to flash back to stock I just don't see the merit of running CM7 off a micro SD. Yes, it can be done, but if you're new to rooting your Nook my suggestion is to start over, wipe everything and install to internal memory.
I have had a ATT captivate for almost 2 years now. It falls in the IMEI range specified by ATT. But it wasn't really a problem until very recently.
It got much worse about 3 weeks ago when the phone kept constantly rebooting. It would load the OS, begin media scanning, once that concluded, it would immediately reboot (almost every 20 seconds). Only way to stop the reboot cycle is to take out the battery. No new apps were installed, no system changes were made when this happened.
I am able to get the phone's menu which allows me to wipe and I am able to get the phone into download mode.
I have read (4) of this article regarding sleepdeath and all corresponding articles referenced.
This is what I did...
1) Performed hard reset, cleared storage. This eliminated all third party apps, returned the phone to stock (I think), but the phone is still rebooting.
2) Attempted to install a brand new rom (CM) via CWM = Problem got much worse. Still rebooting but this time, after the ATT logo appears, the screen changes to static (noise) and reboots. Followed instructions and diles from here.
3) Since the phone became useless, I hunted around to return it to stock again and used this. The phone now boots up into the OS, but now it's back to rebooting.
I repeated steps 2 and 3 just to make sure I didn't miss a step, but same problem.
I have 2 goals:
1) Get the phone working, if at all possible!
2) If that's not possible, recover the 300 pictures that are on the device.
My challenge is that since the phone keeps rebooting every 20 seconds, by the time it connects to my PC via USB as external storage, it reboots! This ofcourse is also preventing me from loading a ROM directly on to the SD card.
So if anyone can help me to do the following:
1) Point me in the right direction to how I can keep the phone in a certain mode or setting (download mode doesn't work) where I can transfer files, recover my pics, and perhaps load a custom ROM?
2) Next steps?? Am I even on the right track? Since the stock rom keeps the phone rebooting, will a custom ROM solve the problem (have not been able to get a conclusive answer on this on the threads referring to sleep death (which this is an exaggerated version of) or is the phone a lost cause?
I know I can call ATT and try to haggle a replacement (since the phone is out of warranty), the only benefit being they don't renew my contract, and I don't have to upgrade.
Any help or guidance is much appreciated.

Well i don't know if you can mount the sd card in stock recovery (never used it) but if you can't then you could flash one of the stock one click roms with cwm recovery from this thread.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
In cwm recovery there is an option to mount sd while connected to pc so you can backup your stuff.
For the reboots, could it be your power button? Mine is acting up, and often seems to cause reboots. There are threads about fixing that. Idk just a thought.

Like the previous post says, maybe try a custom recovery, go to mounts and storage, and mount USB storage. While you're at it, try flashing a compatible ROM through that recovery i.e. GB rom if its a GB kernel with CWM recovery or ICS rom if its an ICS recovery.
Did you try to do a dump of SD card data with adb?

The static issue is because you flashed a gingerbread kernel but you don't have gingerbread bootloaders. You can fix this by flashing an AT&T stock one click with bootloaders.
Once there, you can flash corn kernel and use recovery to mount the sd card.
Or I guess you could flash a froyo kernel.. there's a number of ways to do this.
