CyanogenMod development? - Dell Streak 7

Is anyone actively working on cyanogenmod for the streak 7? I haven't gotten mine yet. But we have the kernel source (for froyo at least) and we can flash new system and boot with fastboot and/or nvflash. So there shouldn't be anything stopping us right? I've grown familiar with building cm7 for my nexus and gtab and i am eager to see it working on the streak7.

From what DJ_Steve said in another thread, I believe he is in contact with the Cyanogenmod team. Drop Steve a line and see if you can help.

To answer my own question. Work has already begun. When i refreshed my cyanogen tree i noticed a new project 'device/dell/streak7'.
EDIT: although almost nothing has been done. but now i have a starting point.

I would SOOOOO be down for flashing some CyMod on my Streak7.

Yeah, I can't wait to see a Cyanogenmod Gingerbread ROM for the Streak 7. I've had incredible success with the CM Gingerbread ROM for my Droid Eris: excellent battery life, stability, and cool features!

Apparently the cyanogen guys are working on porting this to the SGS before they continue with work on cyanogen itself, and then will upgrade to v7 cyanogen using the new AOSP base.

Lol.
Thanks for this, I can use the images from this dump to improve my theme!
I'm hoping that since its almost identical to the Samsung Galaxy S series phones that it shouldnt be too hard to cook up a ROM for the SGS series phones.
Also, I hope the GPS works better than the SGS phones, maybe somebody can look at the source code and figure out a way to fix the GPS on the SGS phones once and for all!
Keeping my fingers crossed!
GPS
Given the hardware similarities between the Nexus S and other SGS models, I'm curious as to the GPS performance of the NS and if the devs will identify software based improvements that we can apply to our SGS phones specifically the Captivate.

Yea, in all honesty, I'd rather Samsung stop working on Froyo and just give us Gingerbread on the Galaxy S phones. Why even bother putting out Froyo now?
And you know they wont update the Galaxy S phones to Gingerbread.

[not so DEV]Cyanogenmod for the 2X Waiting Thread

First of all: If you came here to download CM for your Optimus 2X, you can go ahead and leave. In this thread we can group the progress made in building CM. Should there be a succesfull build, a seperate thread with the [ROM] tag will be made.
So I guess there are a lot of folks that want CM on their O2X.
Here are my findings with the build:
-Downloaded the tar.gz with all the device specific files from Goddchens repo
-Synced official CM repo
-got files from the 2X with the scripts
-ran the build
All pretty standard stuff, but it fails to boot anything.
I end up at a plain android
Will go ahead and try with another boot.img
Share your building experiences
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: This is no longer a dev thread but has became a random, all things slightly related to CM7 and O2X thread
Mod edit :moving this to general as this is just a discussion when devlopment happens ill move it back- haree

What if you use Paul's boot.img?
And when you say "All pretty standard stuff, but it fails to boot anything.
I end up at a plain android" - what does that last bit mean? It did boot but you got stock ASOP Android???? (If so, that's all we really need to progress but I doubt that's what happened).
What i meant was that it simply displays "android"
like when you boot into clockwork recovery but it stops there
I tried:
-my boot.img => effect described above
-Pauls boot.img => bootanimation from LG, bootloop without access to logcat
-Goddchens boot.img => same effect as mine
Try to build CM 6.X, not the Gingerbread build, use the MCK kernel, should be fine.
Maybe someone will start LG Star vendor tree at Github? Will work on it when I'll recieve my O2X...

Cyanogen Mod?

I did a search here and didn't see any info on this...
Now that ROMs are being rolled out, will we be seeing a Cyanogen Mod? I ran it on my G1, Mytouch Slide, G2, and need some Cyanogen loving for my D3...
Is he waiting for the unlocked bootloader?

Be patient. CyanogenMod is a source built ROM, it's compiled from source and the source code is a mix of AOSP from Google/Android and the CyanogenMod Team's own programming. Hashcode has been working very hard on getting the source ported so that it will compile and run on the Droid 3. He's also working on making it work in a "sandbox" area so as not to affect the stock ROM (easy to switch back and forth between the two).
All the current ROMs for the Droid 3 are modified stock ROMs. Some theme changes, app deletions/additions, a few build.prop edits, etc...

I am not that well versed on CyanoGen... I started off with a D2, and the flexribbon broke before I was able to see the dawn of custom kernels. Is cyanogen truly a custom kernel? If so, I assume we're trying to hijack the boot process to load dual kernels?

CyanogenMod on locked bootloaders hijacks the init process and runs on top of the stock kernel. No kernel replacement on locked bootloader phones.
Yyup, that's what I thought.
Also, according to Hashcode0f, well be seeing a CM7 beta in the very, very near future. He's going to be writing a dossier up on it shortly.

Downloading!
Even though it has a bootloader, that doesn't mean the development cannot take place. Why not develop now so when the bootloader gets unlocked, you will already have a pretty descent ROM to flash on!

Technically the radio works (3G data), but the phone app crashes due to an audio codec issue I'm looking at.

Honestly, I don't believe the bootloader will ever be unlocked. It will have to be unlocked by Motorola and I just do not believe that they ever will.
So developing ROMs (from source) will require using the 2nd-init process CM7 is using to boot the "new" OS on top of the stock kernel. Kernel will remain stock.......
Did you forget who bought motorola? Google! And google supports devs. Like all the unlocked nexus phones! It will be released sooner or later! Have hopes!

If the acquisition passes through (which likely won't be soon).. word is Google bought them more for patents than for anything else. If we're lucky, Google might make sure future phones are unlocked. However I highly doubt Google will do anything about phones already released.
Plus Moto said they would release an update to unlock the bootloaders where carrier approved. The other variations of the droid 3 may get unlocked, but I doubt big red will give their approval for unlocking the droid 3.

[Q] CM9 official port?

So is the N1 going to get an offical CM9 port or is going to just be an unofficial one?
I've heard rumors saying it will eventually get official CM9. For now, though, use samuaz's CM9 build.
In high hopes that cm9 might be arriving anytime soon for our n1.

The tree I'm using is from Evervolv, here. Specifically this, with a few changes. I'll have my changes up on Github hopefully later today.
Please forgive my ignorance as I've only recently started researching ICS ROMs for my Incredible, but the other ICS ROMs - abduction, kang, etc. - don't have true HWA, correct? What HWA they have is the result of creative work-arounds by resourceful devs, right? Does this ROM have true HWA? And although they were only recently released, has anyone had any success with the official Qualcomm drivers for the Adreno 200?
Thanks.

A slight correction: the AOKP rom does not have HWA; Abduction 2.0 rom does have HWA, as does the Evervolv rom; Abduction also has a 1.81 version that is non-HWA.

For those that have tried this ROM so far, how is the battery life? In earlier versions of Abduction with HWA the battery life was really bad, is it the same in this ROM? Also, does this have trackpad unlock? I had to revert to CM7 for this because my power button on my inc is starting to act up.

Battery life doesn't seem bad. I'd say around average. I've been playing with it non stop since I flashed it last night, so I haven't given it the full day test. But it seems really solid for a pre-alpha. Can't wait to see what the Inc devs can do with this bad boy.
