Black screen during call

Hi,
I'm wondering to know if you know application to avoid black screen during calls for the HTC Hero.
RucaNebas
Yes. On the app store there is a free app called Shake Awake. It detects the movement of pulling the phone away from your ear and activates the screen. The sensitivy can be adjusted.
Thank you very much for your quick replay Paul.
I installed and it seems to work.
Thank you again.
Do you know where I can find cool applications for our Hero?
RucaNebas
Wow, this works very nice.
Thank you

You're very welcome.
I have so far only installed apps from the Android Market.
Excellent find.
Not working on HTC Hero :-((
Do you know why?
Yeah, didn't work on the Hero. I hope they fix that with the update and also that annoying vibrate when the phone connects. While interesting concept it is really not needed. I figure I know when it connects when the other person says hello.
You can use Keepscreen, there is a lite version ;-)
Hi,
you may use the free app calle KeepScreen Lite, too.
This app lets you choose for which apps you want the screen always stay on.
The Hero uses a specific phone app, whose name is different from google standard phone app ... But KeepScreen lets you manually choose the apps you want.
There are two versions of keepscreen : the free one (called lite), which is 'limited' to standard google apps, and two of user's chose. The pay version is unlimited.
edit : bricabrac : you won this one
Thank you guys.
I'm sorry to back again, but I need to understand your explanations.
Do you mean that the KeepScreen Lite application could be installed on the Hero and activates the screen during calls?
Which is the Hero app name that keeps the screen always stay on during calls?
I had already created a thread with regard to the screen switching off during a call here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547736
Shakeawake doesn't seem to work for all and for those it does it can be unreliable.
PowerManager can be set (in a profile) to keep the screen alive when making a call for up to a minute (specify by number of secs... I think) which gives you plenty of time to get past those 'pick 1 to do ... pick 2.... etc' type calls.
Hope this helps
how do i install this " shake awake" program on my foon! new 2 andriod

KeepScreen
if i'm not mistaken the actual phone app should be named "Dialer"
KeepScreen is now completely free, and has in the free version all functionality
ahm, can anyone tell me how do i turn the screen off again after i awoke it? my ear keeps checking notifications :/
fyi...on my hacked sapphire, keepscreen was a little buggy. it would sometimes still allow dialer app to go dark while on call even with the keepscreen app running as confirmed in both notification bar and running apps. also, when rebooting phone, keepscreen requires restart but that is probably normal. for me, i decided i rather not deal with the problem of occasional face/key-press on long calls and just let the device go dark. i've become familiar with the quick-key presses to handle call-swap, speaker-on, and such...
I have shake awake since a while and it works fine.
Keepscreen is nice to keep applications "awake"

[Q] [PATCH REQUEST] Add ADD "SENDING NETWORK TIMESTAMP" OPTION to received SMS

[Q] [PATCH REQUEST] Add ADD "SENDING NETWORK TIMESTAMP" OPTION to received SMS
Dear all,
the problem is simple...as is possible to notice, when sms arrive the displayed time is the received and not the sent one...
this fact is valid for all the new generation smartphones, iPhone included..
=> I really hate this fact because sometimes happens that my phone is off or it has not signal and, after the signal is back again, I receive tons of SMS with the same time....and perhaps some of them all already "expired" since they are referred to a past event...
old phones like Nokias, ecc. displayed ALWAYS the "sent time" and not the "received one"...
I've seen that has been already opened an issue on the Android Dev Code : http ://code. google. com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989
what is more interesting to observe is that seems the base SMS application (but also Handcent SMS) uses the local handset time for the date called thru System.currentTimeMillis()...(http ://code. google .com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989#c40)
and, as I've seen ([http ://code. google .com/p/android/issues/detail?id=2989#c39) it is possible to set the "network time" using the Android.Telephony.smsMessage.getTimestampMills()
now..could someone look into this issue and try to write a patch for our Galaxy S (but also for other phones should be the same..)? because I've not so much time and I'm not very familiar with Android code..
thank you very much,
Alessandro
up
please...could someone consider this? don't you think it's an interesting feature?
I would like this feature .
I for one would welcome this change.
I'll try to write some code today and see if I can read the timestamp.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I would like to see this in action too. I'm fed up of Android not supporting some of the most basic cell phone features .

many thanks
and I think it will also useful for all the Android community!!
oh... i used to view the properties of the msg to read the sent time with nokix, already forgot that it should be sent time but not rec time
Where is possible to find the sources of the native Android SMS application?
Could anyone post them (or something similar?)..then I'll try to hack the code
If i remember correct, the HTC Desire did not have this issue with default sms client.
Hope someone will find a fix for this annoying issue soon.
Possible fix
I know it's a little late but I found an app called SMS Timestamper Fix that seems to be working so far and it's free. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this one!
Bump. I once had a mms.apk that had the sent timestamp instead of received timestamp. Now no developer knows how to recreate it.

what we know.... and have figured out

Lets use this thread for listing working hacks and tricks for our focus s i937..... anything that you figure out please post..... lets show high interest.. and get involved!!!!
When i first got my focus s "insurance replacement for the focus i917" i had alot of data and mms issues.... anyone with these problems dont bother trying to fix it your self bring to att store and tell them.... att store told me its all a coding issue with 4g and fixxed it in 2 minutes and all is well now.... anyone who has unlocked and using there phone on a different network... this is your problem have the carrier fix it for you... the phones data and mms will not work on your old 3g data plan....
debranding and interop unlocking made my phone better.... i upgraded to 8107 and have had no issues at all.... i did have a few weird things going on before the upgrade weird lockscreen behavior, keyboard issues and laggy homescreen while scrolling all of witch are completely gone now after upgrade... wp7 root tools works for registry viewing and editing..... havent been able to get accent changer to work though but i am able to edit accent colors through the registry ''kind of alot of work'' hopeing to get accent changer working very soon.... also after 8107 update my battery life has improved alot!!!! by at least a 3rd and that is no exageration
I don't know any

Hi
Many thanks for this all done. When phone reboots I still get the AT&T splash screen and in "About" carrier still shows up as AT&T Wireless, is this normal?
Sent from my SGH-i937 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
If you're referring to me then yeah that's just your splash screen image, after debranding it throw it on zune.
Yes I am, I really appreciate your input on all this, I've been searching for a de-branding solution for an age
One question though, if you go into "Settings" and "About" does your de-branded phone still show "AT&T Wireless" ad the "Carrier"? Mine still does

I posted this at wpcentral please help

I have tons of questions about my new Nokia Lumia 822 and Windows phone 8.....
1. Is there a good video chat app like facetime ( iphone ) or google talk....i have a 7 month old I love see while I'm at work.
2. When I create a new text message and I type the first letter of someone's name it only pulls up some people and not all. Example: J for John and I get jenn or Joe bit not John. When I type John I get noting...also when I type k
for Katie nothing shows up....as for the phone app is there a way or option that when I type the # corresponding with their. First name it pulls them up example 6 for m
At least in WP7 you could scroll in the suggestion list to see the additional entries. Perhaps they are just not visible because there are too many hits. There is no smart dialing in the stock dialer but there are Apps that support it (altough those are a little awkward to use as well).
For Video chat I would suggest you use the one that works everywhere: Skype.
Thanks for the help...i have Skype dl however I don't see anywhere it says video chat....why would it not pull up names in k if I only have one?
Sent from my RM-845_nam_vzw_100 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Hmmm... that's actually a behavior I have not seen myself or have seen mentioned before

I had the same issue until I realized I didn;t have their phone number stored as a mobile. It was work or home and the Messaging app only pulls up numbers stored as mobile.
You can find the people under the + sign, or you can change the peoples number to mobile and it will fix the issue for good.
The quickest way to call some one by name is go to people and type name

Thanks Ludo....i actually figured that out yesterday after messing with my numbers....i just feel stupid it took me so long to figure it out.
I got Skype to work on WiFi but not lte...i don't know if its my wife's crap iPhone 4 or if windows can't handle Skype on lte....i wish windows and android could come up with a video chat that works as well as face time and as easy to use...you would think by now they would have...skype is ok its just blurred.

I have used Skype's video call on LTE. Works fine.
Aside from some heat while charging, Skype over LTE works fine for me too. In Queens, NY.

[SOLVED] dialer auto complete function lost

hello,
In the dial pad I don't have the auto complete working, no proposition of a contact when I enter a known phone number.
I'm on 207 firmware but I'm (trying) making a slim version, so I may have deleted an app related ...
Any idea of what app ?
I din't find any option for that in settings.
Or a 207 bug ? probably not ...
thanks
[EDIT] So, do not delete SmartSearch.apk
Never make any changes to your phone or your ROM before making backup I am also making a custom ROM which has all features but I always get bigger errors than u.
Anyways for your problem try using a app from play store it will fix the problem ??
Sent from my C5302 using XDA Free mobile app
Launch the Phone app, tap the icon for the menu, and select Settings. A few items down you'll see an option for dial-pad autocomplete; check the box next to it. Most likely, that's the "problem".
The solution suggested above me, using "an app" (which one?) from the Play store or w/e, doesn't make any sense by the way...Just saying.

Damn, I don't have such menu in Phone app (3 vertical points icon), only :mask calls journal, delete calls, and filter calls journal
And on the stock 205 firmware, same thing (an other xperia sp, but autocomplete working).
??

Well, I do backups at every critical step in deleting apk's. The question is wich one give dial-pad autocomplete.
I also saw that AOSP 4.3 gives an option for this in Settings/Calls, but it's not present in Xperia ...
After a Factory reset, same thing.
So, an app is missing in my /system/app, or it's a 207 firmware bug
Will continue to investigate ... arrff ...
Dialer, contacts, phone
The only ones I can think of.
Back to stock 207 and it's working ...
Apk envolved in that will be hard to locate. Making a diff between stock and my Slim ROM does not let appear an obvious apk envolved ...
And the guilty is .... SmartSearch.apk !
Quite obvious actually ...
