Each icon is stored in its own apk. To change them you will have to edit each apk
Those would be in the individual apks themselves...easiest way to port them would be to simply transfer the apps with the icons you like to the zip of the rom you want to use. Then flash it. Even extract those and put them in a folder on your pc so you can cook them in to whatever rom you want to in the future...
Thanks!

Is there any way one could get the Widgets that are in Jac xrom, or in Dark Dream theme on CM-v4.0.4....
Like the 2g/3g toggle, ringer toggle, weather..etc.
I want to stick with just CM rom, no theme, cause it rocks...so smooth.....
The styles/features of the widgets are what I like.
Thanks

yeah, just take them out of the theme or rom and install them on your phone through astro or something
To elaborate on what david said, you can download them xrom and open it with winrar, look around for widgets maybe in a folder or something and then extract them. Put them on your sd and use apps installer or whatever to install them, you might have to push them if installing doesnt work and I haven't really pushed but you can search and find out how to.
Thanks guys. I just installed from ES File Explorer, reboot and it was easy.
Download on market
You can dowload Weather Widget-Donate or Beutiful Widgets on the market.
I want to extract the stock wallpaper that came with a certain rom. Where in the rom would I be able to find it?
These are possible places to look:
-Framework-res.apk(extract the apk)-->/drawables folders
-Launcher.apk(extract apk)
-Rosie.apk(sense rom)
-(Theme name)Lightshow.apk,nature.apk,etc(MtSlide rom)
im new to the whole rom thing but i was under the impression my phone was going to look exactly like the pictures i saw of the rom ha. guess not.

framework-res.apk
res-->drawable-->default_wallpaper.jpg
Its in framework-res.apk you can extract the apk using 7zip.
pull the framework-res.apk from /system/framework off of the phone.
Once its extracted look in res/drawable-hdpi the name of the file is default_wallpaper.jpg
This rom works great, however when I try to change the Homescreen wallpaper and select a wallpaper from astro file manager, I get FC every time. If I use the built in wallpapers, it works.

WHAT ROM? Maybe you should post in the thread of the ROM you're using, just in case that's part of the issue.
Instead of resurrecting a dead thread. No offense, but come on.
wrongly posted... nothing specific for htc droid eris, so deleted...
haha wrong thread
Is there a way to replace the default wallpaper in the apk? Every time the UI crashes I keep having to look at this crappy blue and purple wallpaper.

Sounds like you should be able to according to post # 5 above.
I have JI6 (unofficial froyo) version of Captivate (i897)...
I like to theme the notification bar (Transparent, icons, etc.) without any ROM.
I have tried Cognition ROM, but random shutdown was killing me...
So, anyone know how?
by SDK/ADB, root manager, metromorph, Odin, or whatever you can do - THAT WORKS!!!

It depends on what you want and where you want it. Certain changes require changes to the xml codebehind and some do not. It is not as easy as it may seem for the average user.
You have to use winrar to open the theme or rom you are using.go to the twframework-res.apk.open that DO NOT UN ZIP ANYTHING!! then look for status bar background.9 drag and drop onto desk top or folder whatever then edit in photoshop or whatever you have and put back save and put it back in the folder. If I can get by a computer today there is thread out the will tell you do to do it that is big help.I you have some problems I can do some editing for you but would have to wait until I get home I am out of town.oh and when you put the edit status backgroung.9 back into the zip file make sure it is stored and compressed

Along this same line of questioning........
All I want to do is remove the transparency from the notification drop down in my current rom / theme. Is there a single value in an xml file to adjust this feature?
It's a .png that you'll need to change the opacity of.

Thanks for the thread been looking for something like that but someone psoted somethign saying that you had to use a cpativate rom for it because the i9000 roms have different file types in them
Now there is theme kitchen, upload a apk and you can apply themes. Then after some time, you get a new apk in a cwm flashable zip.

try the framework-res.apk in system\framework
NOT sure it gets unpacked anywhere
The default wallpaper for themes, are stored in the framework-res.apk as silashack mentioned. You can open this file with 7z or something similar and the wallpaper is located in res/drawable/default_wallpaper and res/drawable-hdpi/default_wallpaper or res/drawable-hdpi-v4/default_wallpaper

Does anyone have the 2 blue wallpaper images that come with launcher pro? I can't find them anywhere and only managed to get it while on the lite bluesky theme. I don't want to add them theme again as I'm running darkys rom and it is super quick. If anyone could post the files I would be most grateful!
System/Wallpaper on some .

I really am not a fan of the themed apps (i.e. market, dialer, etc) that come packed with themes. Is there a way to only change the framework? The REVOlution and STRUCK themes are awesome but I just can't stand the themed apps.
Thanks in advance.
take the framework.res apk and the htc.resources.apk from you phone
take the same files from the theme
extract the images from the theme files into ythe files from you phone and reload
open the zip using 7zip or whatever you use and delete the apps you dont.

Okay, thanks a lot.
Also you could use NinjaMorph. I use it all the time for just what you are saying. I am running VanillaBean 1.2 with all dark backgrounds and shade etc thanks to NinjaMorph.
Thunderbolt says end of line.
