I'm using an HTC Incredible S running stock 2.3.3
I have recently encountered a small but annoying issue when connecting to a PC via USB. In the last week or two I decided to switch off USB debugging however despite the box being unticked, the notification for ‘USB Notification connected’ appearing.
Appreciate it’s not the biggest problem in the world, but anyone have any thoughts on how to sort this?
Hi, I had the same issue but it disappeared once I restarted the phone.
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Thanks Cray but unfortunately not that simple.
this problem has just suddenly started happening on my phone as well, and it doesn't go away with a restart.
Seemed to have fixed it by switching off fast boot then rebooting to Hboot (hold down power and volume down). Then did a power cycle and put fast boot back on. USB debugging notification has now stopped appearing when it shouldn't be.
having the same issue on my htc incredible s 2.3.3, will try the above method.

Really need help guys. My SGS is doing REALLY funny things...
I just got my SGS a few days ago and so far all I've been doing is installing aps on it (no messing with rooting/flashing).
Today, I was trying to get Keis to work. I reinstalled Keis and unplugged and repluggeed my phone a few times and managed to get it to recognise.
Here's the problem, now it ALWAYS says USB connected on the top left hand corner. Everything seems ok except after a few minutes of the screen turning off, I can't turn it back on again. Absolutely no activity. If I try to turn it back on immediately after it goes off, it can come back on again.
Things get weirder. If I remove my battery or turn it off, I can't turn it back on again (it flashes a loading symbol in the middle of the screen for half a second then nothing happens). To turn it back on, I have to plug it in and wait for the charging screen to come on. THEN it comes on.
I've tried doing a factory reset but nothing changed... Is there a hardware fault? Perhaps flashing will solve the problem?
ps. When it's off, I can enter download mode but not recovery more unless I plug it in...
Sounds like a hardware problem on phone, But I beleive its more of a Grounding problem with your usb. Can you try it with another port or computer? Also does your pc/laptop have a grounding pin for its power supply? I noticed I get odd power spikes when I travel to asia as their power is not always good. You can always buy a surge protector for your computer and one for your samsung charger. Other then that see if you can get new KIEs (I Don't EVER use it as its crap and never reconizes my phone)
Also if you want to kick up a storm, get the thing replaced as it sounds like a phone hardware problem as it should not crash when you take battery out. Could be battery but better to change the whole thing.
Try activating USB DEBUG in settings. Check the option and restart.
It should solve the problem. You can UNCHECK again the option and the phone should work also without USB debug activated
It will happen again, it seem to me a problem with some USB port, or some cables, activating a *waiting for USB* option BEFORE the ROM loading
Thanks
Thanks for the advice guys. Last night it suddenly started behaving itself after the 10th or so hard reset *phew*
Very strange problem and I think I will stay well clear of Kies from now on... Samsung make a good phone but lousy software...

[Q] Bricked? Stuck on either white AT&T screen or grey, frozen battery screen, no USB
While trying to install Cognition v2.2b3 via Clockworkmod (from stock at&t 2.1 froyo) something happened mid-install and my phone ended up rebooting, and I have not been able to turn it on since.
-When attempting to power on normally, phone shows white AT&T screen and hangs there
-When attaching USB, phone shows battery screen but battery is all grey and rotating progress icon is frozen. Does not appear to be charging.
-Computer does not recognize phone in any state. Latest USB drivers are installed and I have had no issues connecting via USB previously.
-Cannot get into download or recovery mode using any volume/power button combination or through adb. Also tried attaching USB with ODIN running while attempting button combinations, inserting/removing battery etc, still nothing.
Has anyone else experienced this? Anything else I should try?

Go into Download mode, hold both volume buttons down and plug your phone into USB. If it doesn't work than pull the battery and try again.
If that doesn't work keep trying until it does. I'm serious, it took me like 40 tries last night to flash stock with the 1 click and then finally get cognition running (that only took one flash)
Odin is a piece of crap, it works maybe every 10th time for me. I've never used the rom manager to install roms, always use clockwork recovery. Less to go wrong if your in recovery mode I suppose.
But literally just keep trying until it works o.0
Hi. I've experienced exactly the same this night. Try this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775911 it helped instantaneously.
BTW, you really need to wait at least 10 secs after removing battery.
I have the exact same problem.
My battery screen shows up with nothing but a flash loading icon and a grey battery. When I simply turn my phone on its stuck in ATT boot screen. I tried the instructions many times trying to get into download mode but right when i put it in the battery while holding down up/down/power it simply just shows the "frozen battery charging" screen again.

Hi guys,
i installed the TrickDroid 2.0.0 ROM Google Edition 4.3 on my HTC One on wednesday this week, everything seemed well and worked.
Yesterday i connected it to the charger before i went to bed (original HTC charger).
Today i woke up and the green LED was on (indicating the battery was fully loaded) as usual.
I grabbed the phone but cant turn it on, the green LED stays on even after disconnecting from the charger.
Long holding the power button or even power+volume down semms not to work.
When i connect it to the computer windows makes this "something was connected on USB" sound but no device pops up in windows explorer.
I don't even know if the device is on, i cant call my self up, because i put it in plane mode before going to bed :/
Do you know this issue? What can i Do?
I can't use fastboot, it always says it's "waiting for device"
Any suggestions?
BTW: I unlocked it with the developer certificate from HTC - if it matters
Hi Again,
so the problem has disappeared magically.
I tried to hold down power and volume down again and after 5 seconds the green LED went out and the device booted up again.
I tried it like 10 times before that and it didnt work.
So Problem's solved ... i guess.
Thanks anyway!
I've had a small look around the forums but I can't find a straight solution to my exact problem. It seems I cannot charge my phone without turning my phone off completely and letting it charge while it's off. I can't connect to my pc as mass storage because it acts like my phone has an OTG device plugged in instead of the power cord. I've read solutions explaining you can cut the cord open and cut to wires so it doesnt read as USB mode. I dont really want to do this and I don't believe that should be the last option.
If someone knows of any solution can you help please. Thanks
I have the same problem, it does not charge.
The ONE HTC is sending charge(I assume, waiting for a device in OTG).
How to solve this problem without cutting wires?
are you completely stock? any custom kernels, what rom if any?
Any rom, official or custom.
I used trick of light -> Hold Button + Vol down + Vol UP + Light on sensor
I reverted to a completely stock rom and relocked the bootloader. This fixed the problem but me being me got sick of it and rooted again. It was fine for a bit then same problem occured. However now it only occurs accasionally

Hello all,
I'm not literate in tackling troubleshoot issues with my phone, however, after a couple of months now trying to resolve my phone issue I turn to you for help. My XT890 (Razr-i):
is stuck on the Red M logo
A green light flashes when I plug it in to either the main charger or the USB port on my laptop; the M logo displays and the green light turns off
I've tried all the power button plus volume combinations - the phone turns off, vibrates and returns to the default M logo
When connected via USB, the phone is not detected (Not in Device Manager, RSD lite (6.1.4), USBDeview)
I've tried many suggestions in these forums, however, without access to boot menus on the phone via the button combinations or access to the phone via USB, I'm at a loss as to what I can do
I acknowledge I do not provide much technical information. If you can help with any suggestions I'd be delighted to hear from you.
Many thanks.
Been dealing with the same issue once two weeks ago and now again tonight - only difference is that 2 weeks ago I could only get as far as the motorola icon but now make it as far as the intel icon.
Try the buttons again.
Hold down vol down first and keep it pressed until the very end of the procedure, then press and hold the power button till phone reboots.
When you feel the vibration let go of the only the power button.
As soon as the menu appears you can let go of the vol down button.
This has worked for me every time.
No harm to have the phone connected to a charger while doing this as the battery has been draining
When you get into the boot menu leave the phone in that state till the battery is charged enough to reset it
Other threads and people are more knowledgeable about that than me.
Pretty sure my phone or some part of it is starting to fail at this stage - about 2.5 years old now, as It got a factory reset 2 weeks ago

Guys, please note that the RSA works ONLY on win7 or lower.
I've tried a couple times on win8 and win8.1 and it had the same problem as you (no USB recongnition of the device) . I had to learn by myself that it works flawlessly on win7.
This is the thread that i solved my problem when using 4.1.2 (now im having the same problem with KitKat, it got stuck on the Intel logo).
