I've read some comments that Cifs was supported in StreakDroid7, has anyone else had success with this? I get "No such device" no matter how I configure CifsManager. Any help would be appreciated.
Can someone please just confirm or deny that cifs support is present? Thanks.
*bump*
Would like to know that as well!
Last time I'll bump this in hopes of getting a response
Yes there is, However ONLY on a custom Rom, I use the rom here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008650
Or you can use Streakdroid 1.3 for it. The stock roms doesnt have the support even after you root.

Thanks, I'll try it tonight. Looks like the original link is dead but I found the same rom hosted here: http://www.4shared.com/get/Qa1xh6Iz/djsteve336.html in case anyone else in interested.
Yea Hellzya should update it. Also the rom you posted is the better one, beats streakdroid too for now, since BT works and the Quadrant score passes 2000, which is damn good for these 3d games.
Btw.. if you get cifs to work fully.. let me know.. Ive been trying to but keep getting stuck on the mounting point thing. Trying to share my ntfs folders.

Flashed the rom but I'm still getting "No such device" from CifsManager which indicates the kernel does not support cifs. Have you actually seen Cifs work on either this rom or StreakDroid? If so, was it with CifsManger or another app?
Ok when I am in the program, in menu - settings, It does show I have insmod and cifs module.
Now one thing I do NOT remember. I rem ORIG I didnt have this, which I think I flashed to StreakDroid when it came out which added cifs support.
Just checked my system files, seems I am right. Djsteve366 doesnt have the cifs.ko file we need. I rem making a post about that one time to get the files, was no luck.
Try Streakdroid 1.3 to see if that works for you. (If it doesnt you can flash back without formatting to the djsteve366 which is better for Quadrant performance and bluetooth works)
Well I guess I'm back where I started then. Cifs not working in streakdroid was my original post.
Yea im trying to look at this too. I know SMB can work with AndSMB but that requires you to setup a SMB server in windows. Got that to connect at least tho.
What we need to do is compile it seems.. rather annoying. Im trying to get the file too. Since yea, I too had read streakdroid supported it.

Well, Chris, first you have to make sure you are using an Android. Also, @Drorbecker might release an update with fixes. If it doesn't work at first try rebooting and reinstall. It took me three times, but it finally works!

Dunno, I clucked it and it said pull your battery so I pulled it and then I just rebooted as normal.
Didnt change my life.
I don't understand the point of this app either. I don't have to do anything on my G1 to get ADB to work other than plug it into my PC's USB and not mount the SD card.
In theory (havent used it yet): it will allow you to run any adb command directly on your phone. Allows you to remount and push files from your sdcard to the /system and /data partition easily. Look at the system log using logcat and pull files from your /system and /data partition.
However, if you are using a root file manager (Root File Manager or SUFBS), such as myself, its not necessarily needed.
Thanks anyways, great step forward in development!
I'm guessing you need a rooted phone to use this though, right?

What firmware are you running and what OS does your computer have?????
I had the same trouble too but it finally worked for me.
Im running the newest SuperD on my G1, and Vista on my computer.
This is about the most pointless application I've ever seen.
adb server runs on the phone when you enable Settings --> Applications --> Development --> USB debugging.
adb client runs on your computer and is used for transferring debugging data between the phone and your debugging system.
adb client has NO PLACE AT ALL on the phone itself. There is NOT a SINGLE THING that it can do that you can't just as easily (easier actually) do from the TERMINAL.
In case anyone was wondering.

I had been using RyanZA's lagfix. I uninstalled it using unlagfixme.bat. Then installed CFLagfix 1.7 using ext3. No other wiping or flashing.
My ROM as shown below.
Quadrant is 1500-ish, as opposed to 2200-ish with RyanZA's using ext2. The obvious is that ext3's journaling is exacting a cost. However, I want it, and noticed lag starting to return anyway with RyanZA's fix.

I think some people just keep imagining problems. Lag starting to return.. new lag fix for one that works great? jesus
To each his own observation. My main reason for switching was to get ext3. Not comfortable with the reported file system errors cropping up in reports in the other forum. Speed is second, stability is first.
edit: besides, half the fun of this phone is tinkering like this.

I don't know, I had file system corruption with RyanZA's lagfix almost instantly, and I don't feel like flashing away from the stock kernel until we've got a full AOSP 2.1 or 2.2 build ready (hopefully with the god awful samsung RFS completely removed!) Honestly, these fixes are all band-aids anyway until someone can find a way to remove RFS entirely.
So for me, I'll deal with the lag for a few more weeks, by then, I'm sure Eugene or someone will be close, if not done, with an AOSP build.
=)
im trying to run it but it keeps locking up at the data/app move. Gonna try it again.
Update: got it working. Had to uncheck the box for data/app.
New quadrant around 1500
I hoping someone will post a solid walk through for converting the virtual loop back EXT2/3 partition from this method to EXT4...
if you're comfortable with odin, flash one of JAC's kernels and mod the lag fix's to use ext4, its what i'm using now.

I meant converting the Virtual loop back partition to EXT4. I have JAC's latest OC Kernel installed right now. You will NEED JAC's kernel if you want the system to even support EXT4 at all.
i was meaning for those that have yet to do it... a nice conversion script or method would be nice, for those that have done it

Hey Guys,
Not sure if you still use this or not but I'm trying to get a hold of the himem patch and I cant find it anywhere!
I need the actual patch, not the boot.img with the patch included.
It's so we can try something on the liquid E, if anyone has it I'd love to get my hands on it.
Thanks for your help!!!
What patch are you talking about?
himem patch for the nexus...
I need this because my phone has 2 revs 1 with 256MB ram and the other for 512MB, our froyo only supports 313MB or so... and we would love to have the whole thing lol
It was integrated with the boot.img I saw it everywhere when doing a search but it's only integrated in the boot.img..
Cyanogen was asked about this and he said he no longer has it but I'm wondering if anyone else has it stand alone and not in the boot.img
Alright, so I'm just doing a lot of searching and I MIGHT have found something useful. We'll see though
http://www.spinics.net/lists/arm-kernel/msg94488.html

Superboot Boot Image with himem
* This option installs a Superboot boot image that installs the SU and Superuser binaries for root access. This boot image is also insecure and therefore also provides adb remount permissions. This boot image also includes himem support!

He very well could be, lol, as I don't know much about this. I just did some deep research and tried to find what I thought he was looking for.
I did find some old old ROMs that had it, but I had no idea what file to look for or where it would be located (folder wise) so I couldn't search them myself.
Well, I know it was added to cyanogenmod around or a bit before feb 2nd, so I'm combing through the commits. Around and before that day, there are extensive memory structure, access, error, etc changes. I still haven't found it, but...
Is it impossible to synchronize to the latest source, or are there too many drivers that are not portable?
Hah, I guess it's a bit ironic I ask that when it's been my goal to port some of the Liquid E drivers to the N1.
I'll at least try to hunt down the original author, I remember highmem being credited to someone somewhere.
Edit: It appears it was fixed in kernel .32 but persists in .29. It seems things get a bit fuzzy here, archived articles being vague and all, as I'm no longer sure if highmem patching means that there was a .29 modification or they just went with .32.
Edit2: http://www.nexusoneforum.net/forum/nexus-one-general-discussion/748-we-need-update-2.html There was a setting for highmem on arm processors in .32, but not in .29. There never was a "patch," I don't think.
EDIT: Try this: http://www.androidspin.com/download.../&file=cm502_highmem_kernel_update_v1.6.1.zip - Himem 1.6.1 kernel update - CM 5.0.2? OR http://www.androidspin.com/download.../&file=cm5b4_highmem_kernel_update_v1.5.1.zip - Himem 1.51 kernel update
Please try the edited links first. I believe they are what you are looking for, what I wrote after this could be just useless to you.
I am not sure if this is what you are looking for but check the files on here.
http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=enomther/RESOURCE/
I think I know the patch you are talking about but I don't think it is listed there but there may be something similar there.
Also I remember it being on the Modaco forums but I don't see it there anymore, well not where it used to be, since now it is just integrated.
But check the link none the less.
Wow thanks for all the replies guys!
It is pretty much what I am looking for however it seems to be all the boot.img files for the kernel and I need the source for the "patch"
This sucks cause I'm stuck with 30% of my ram missing on my device!
Anyways thanks for your help!

I Can attest that this is the real deal. I was having problems getting Jac Kernel to be enabled on my device. I would Install and reinstall eugene froyo then back to stock vibrant and then bionix latest roms only to get 900 quadrant each time after setting up set cpu. I searched the threads for the last two days looking for what could possibly be causing my quadrant to never go past 900 to 950 even though I installed exactly like instructed. I would mount in terminal shell and would get mmc/blk op2 or something which indicated the kernel was not enabled. I downloaded one click lag fix and unrooted but the lag fix couldnt be applied becasue it stated I had a lagfix already applied. WHAT! OCLF gave me the message playlogos1 installed in systems/bin so I read on the threads that you were suppose to delete it but I didnt notice that it also said after you delete to copy it back once OCLF stated that it coudnt be found. OH SNAP! I didnt copy. I googled oops I've DELETED PLAYLOGOS1 what should I do and low and behold In the RYAN LAGFIX threads there was zip provided that would fix anything in your system that would keep the phone from enabling kernel including installing EXT/2 and PLAYLOGOS1 files and others on the phone from a command setup. I did this it took a few minutes to complete while phone was plugged to computer, but once it was done rearranging or fixing what was wrong my phone rebooted I ran quadrant and OH MY GOD. 2695 Quadrant on JAC UV/OC Kernel 1.1 Bionix 1.8 Rom. I swear I can just look like I want to touch my phone and this thing is SUPERFAST and battery life is AMAZING. 2695 QUADRANT WOW. Cant imagine what 2.2 Froyo is going to be like on my vibrant, DO THIS NOW IT'S AMAZING!!

It will tell you if it was installed, however, the way I had to error check things was really hard to do because of the way adb is designed, so i did my best to do error checking, but there may be times when it may say "Installed sucessfully" and it may not have..
It should only take less than 1 minute to install, however this program disabled Voodoo lagfix when installing a modem, so when your phone first reboots, it may take up to 10+ minutes to complete the disabling of voodoo lagfix.
Hey Mac,
I was read over in the Axura thread your having problems installing the modems?
Can you please provide some details? Is there a error msg? How far did you get before it died? Did your phone reboot? etc.
I would like the ability with this program to change the top status bar color and icons. I know there is a UOT Kitchen site, but to have it in the app would be fantastic. Other then that, great idea for an app. Looks great so far.
