Clockwork mod back button? - Nook Color General

Like everyone knows, we do not have back button in NC. This causes inconvenience with recovery menus. It's possible to get the back menu option to show by scrolling the menu down enough. Unfortunately it won't show up in the current menu, only if you open a new menu item it appears.
So is it possible to make the back option on by default somehow? What about refreshing current menu?

Hmm. I don't think so. At least with .28 it was just second select button. Maybe was not always like that? Power button works in 3.2.0.1?

Yes, power is back.

CM7 "N" Key / Back - best options?

I'm not running any extra virtual key apps... What I want to do... is have the physical N button do a BACK on 1 click, and HOME on 2 clicks... Or normal click BACK, and LONG click HOME...
I've looked through some of the settings - can't tell how to set that up (if at all).
Any thoughts?
Why not use the soft keys built in to CM7?
Sometimes the status bar is gone... either because something causes it to hide, or because I hide it.

The best setup so far (imho), is to set the soft keys show up at volume button press.
Since the power button or N button tend to fail sometimes.
By doing that, you can hide soft keys with no fear and just presse volume button to bring they back to the screen, flawless.
@blauson
I hate doing that because if I need to change volume I need to leave the app, go into settings, and change it manually. :/
Somehow my "n" button got turned into a back button. Weird. Would much rather haave it be a menu button. but I dont even know how it changed in the first place! lol

Really? Then I will have to see what's up, last time I was always running around the settings and stuff to change the volume.

I second on that.
I'm running nightly 131.
No problem to change the volume neither to show up soft keys.
I use the N key to cancel full screen. Its more comfortable to use than the volume keys for me.
Hrm.. that would work... Where do I configure what the N key does?

This is how I've been doing it as well, but sometimes it brings me all the way back to home after showing the status bar. Do you ever experience that? Any tips if so?
Regardless, I like my volume buttons to be... well... volume buttons.
You could use button savior to have a never-hide home only option button located on the very right side by the N button, leaving that slot unused on adw launcher and treat it as a "permanent" home button.

That's precisely why I haven't used the n button - if there is a way to avoid it, that would be fantastic!

The best thing I ever did was install zMooth. Its a gesture bar that lets you draw the buttons. Almost like my old pre.

Looks interesting, but the only gesture I can manage to make it recognize is home. Any special tricks to this?
Rodney
It has always worked well for me. Have you used the nook screen recalibrate app? Before I ran that I had a really hard time getting the lower part of my screen to recognize my touch. I think there are some sensitivity settings in the zMooth app you can play around with too.

no soft key, app button on cyanogenmod 10.1 on touchpad

I looked at a lot of threads already and can't seem to find a solution. Looks like someone messed up the settings on my touchpad and I can't get the three soft keys and taskbar on the bottom to appear . The button on the top right to go to the app menu is gone also.
There is no way to get onto the setting menu unless I restart the touchpad and use the "low battery" button to get to Battery on settings. Is there anyway to get onto the setting menu with no soft key / app menu ? If I can just access the setting without restarting every time can I can try to fix the problems.
Did you go to system, buttons and layout

Not really sure what you mean by you can only get into settings with the low battery button. But there is an app in your app drawer called settings that takes you to the settings. Also, you could have expanded desktop on so long press the power button and see if you have the option there. If not go into settings and then "system" and look at your expanded desktop options.

Hold down a finger on the home screen, then go into Launcher Settings, see if you can enable the Dock. May have been disabled by mistake.
If that is not available, go into Apps and then access Settings from there.

Landscape view is not supported on a stock rom as far as I know, I would wait for some rom development I'm sure it will get baked in. I noticed on this phone that the ... will appear on the far right if there is no place in the app for a soft key menu. So if the ... is there use that, if it isn't there should be a place in the app where you can press to do the same thing as pressing the menu. I actually wouldn't mind a full time menu key in the far right, I think it's very handy. I original capacitive 4 buttons on the evo were still my favorite lay out.

If you use GravityBox & XPosed, you can have one there at all times. See screenshots. They were taken from my Nexus 7 Tablet, but you should expect no difference, with the exception of the small window in the first screenshot (courtesy of the XHaloFloatingWindow module).
I might have to give this a try. The space is there for the menu key so I wouldn't mind it always being there.

That's definitely something that I am likely to use on every device with on screen buttons. Using GravityBox, I remapped the menu to switch to the last app when double tapped, and show the power menu when long pressed. It's wonderful.

Possible to Change task manager button to menu button?

Is there a option or rom that has a feature to change the task manager button to the menu button?
I hate that there is no menu button. Most apps have a separate menu key, but sometimes I just need my own button.
Thanks.
root phone, xposed additions, can remap all buttons.
If not rooted, long press former menu key to get to menus.

Just did a step by step with drawn on screen shots but just realized I can't post them on XDA Lol. I think I need more Posts or something. Either way. You should see:
1. Buttons
2. Add new Key
3. Press the recent apps button. Click ok
4. Add new condition.
5. Screen on
6. Go to click. Then change it to menu.
7. Go to long press. Change that button or disable it.

Step 6, I only saw app list and nothing that referred to menu.

how do you access "menu" in apps now?

on my note 7 you'd long press recent apps, and it would bring up menu, how do you access the menu button now? I came across an app today that didn't have an onscreen software menu button and couldn't figure out where Samsung buried the menu button this time.
thanks!
I only have one app that I use that is like that, on my Note 5 long pressing the back button brought up the menu. I use the same version app on my Note 8 but on the Note 8 to the right of the back button 3 dots appear to bring up the menu. I tried the long pressing the back button anyway but it doesn't do anything. That's the only app that I use where I have ever seen the 3 dots appear to the right of the back button, so far anyway.
really so it just appeared for you in that app on its own?
interesting, it isn't in my app. surely there's a way to toggle menu tho right? Samsung didn't completely remove it did they?
Yeah, I didn't do anything, it just appears on it own. Screenshot attached showing the 3 dots & the menu that it brings up.
There is another way but it's kind of annoying. Go to settings>accessibility>dexterity & interaction, then enable assistant menu. It'll put a round button on the screen, opening that & holding down the back button will bring up the hidden menu. That's the annoying part but at least you can move the button around to anywhere on the screen.
That's the weird part, long pressing the back button in that assistant menu will bring up the hidden menu just like it did for my Note 5 but long pressing the actual back button on my Note 8 doesn't do anything.
WOW, that assistant menu trick actually worked... dude that's genius, thanks! I only needed the menu for a second to adjust an important setting, can't thank you enough!

No problem. Glad it worked out for you! That's actually how I had to do it on my Note 5. There was some kind of glitch, even though the back button brought up the menu, as soon as I released the back button the menu would disappear sometimes. Using the assistant menu was the only other way I could do it.
