Hi, My friend has a rooted hero and we want to put Flash Player on it.
Since, it is not available on the market, we installed from an APK that I pulled from my evo.
It installed without a problem, but the phone's browser still will not play flash videos.
I tried copying the library file to the hero, but that did not work either.
I understand that the processor(Arm6) on the hero is not designed to support it officially.
Is there a way to put flash on the CDMA Htc Hero?

well if the processor isn't designed to support flash, then it is most likely for us to not have flash on our hero imo. I haven't seen anyone have flash, my only opinion is try to use skyfire.
+1 skyfire FTW. Flash will not work on our heros. 2.1 sense had flash lite but that's it...

this is the closest we will probably ever get
true flash will never be on the hero 10.1 was made for arm7 processors and above now theres a couple modded 2.1 roms and froyo sense roms that have 10.1 in them but its it dosnt really work well because they need the htc flash lite apk to run, and its really buggy.

I figured it would have been, but try mentioning the word "flash" in a search and all you get is flashing roms, recovery, etc.
But I understand where you are coming from.

Go to the Wiki Section and Select Cdma Hero, Next Scroll down to 2.2 Sense Roms and Download the SenseFroyoV8.1 or 8.5 version. Install that and it has FlashLite Capabilities which Work Decent enough for me!

I'm looking for a stable, pure HERO ROM. What I mean by pure is no blur garbage (red colors or bouncing) or custom boot screens. Recently we've had a flood of new HERO ROM's posted by various different people. Ironically, these ROM's have had the exact same issues i.e. flash not working. Which makes me beg the questions, is there just one solid developer of these HERO ROM's and just a bunch of biters? That's neither here nor there. I just want a stable, pure HERO ROM. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ahhh man. I didn't want people's random opinions. I just want the facts. I will try akirah's out. I'm just so sick of flashing hero roms. I think i've flashed all the popular ones. We just got 3-4 new hero roms in the past day or so. Really fast, just the fact that most of them are missing flash is a huge let down. That to me is basic HERO ROM guts.

I tried both, they don't have flash. Dude, i've flashed all the new ones in less then a 24hr period. I'm done with this "new" garbage. I'm going to try this akirah's and call it a night. hmphf!

You could wait for a leaked sholes/elcair rim that has flash 10 and android 2.O

don't you love these "opinions" saying wait for a port isn't really a solution to a hero rom problem. or is it? i don't know very much, at all. never will.

LOL! Yeah, this akirah hero2 is working out just fine. I like the fact that you can simply upgrade the rom without wiping. It's the first hero rom i've seem to do that. Awesome!
special thanks goes out to brian_v3ntura for recommending hero2 1.51, it is what he has said in almost every hero thread, so i would imagine it to work.
Quick question: Is the problems that I was having in KingKlick's 2.0 ROM
- GPS location not working (thinking my current city was "Denver" - when I'm in AZ)
- Paid applications not showing in market/downloading
Normal of all Hero ROMs? Or should I give some of the other ones a shot?

different roms have different problems basically..
i like MLIGNs 2.5.7
akirahs 1.5.1
1.5.1 doesnt have no problems what so ever...people doesnt FC, flash works, multitouch works,etc.

i dont recommened upgrading to 1.5.x
just stay on 1.5.1... anything after that has caused problems.
I downloaded the full version of gensoid rom n created a folder for the roms (gensoid)..downloaded bout 5 or 6 roms..fired up the app said no roms loaded hit menu..open..gensoid..hit vectorman.zip..then black screen for bout 2 seconds..then back to the homescreen..
can anyone help me figure out if its my rom or the app thats the problem..im running manup 1.5
any USEFUL help would be appericated

i have the full gensoid, and it works fine for me, havnt tryed that specific rom tho. try downloading form a different site....
It might be because you're on Eclair? Can you find someone else on Eclair to test it out?
how is manup 1.5 eclair?
Im running manup 1.5 and Gensoid (paid) which is working fine.
The roms need to end with .smd or .bin
not a zip
I don't own Gensoid, but I get all my roms from doperoms.com and I haven't had trouble with any of his other emus through that site, try going there.

Would it be possible to port a hero rom broswer to a regular rom to prevent the crashes hero roms have. And maybe 3d and video on flash? Or just the flash itself?

The reason he is not nicer is because this a once-a-week question that gets asked again and again, along with the now-famous "What's the best rom" question.
I'll be nice and answer that though. By the time you're done porting framework pieces needed for flash to work, you end up with essentially a Hero rom. It's been asked many many times, it's just not happening. If you want flash and semi-reliable rom then run a slimmed-down hero (without Sense and all other crap)

is there an adobe flash apk floating around for the Hero? I rooted my friends Hero with Cyan 6.0 and now updating to 6.1 and he wasnt happy that he couldnt play some videos since it had the HTC flash player. I noticed that the adobe flash player app is not on the market. I searched and didnt find. I rock an N1 so im not up to speed on things for the hero. If someone could link me or point me in the right direction i would appreciate it.

there isn't flash for the hero, 10.1 won't run on our armv6 processors, there are some roms which contain flash 10.1 lite, but as for an apk, couldn't help you. with the lite version, check around in some of the roms, or tell your friend to check... good luck.

So I have a rooted sprint hero with cm7 nightly 39. I know the ARMv6 processor can't handle a full flash player and the hero was equipped with flash lite stock. I'm wondering if there's any way to get flashlite working with cm7. I've tried many apks and plugins and zips with noluck. Also I don't have a computer so I need to be able to do it right on the handset. Any help?
AFAIK Flash Lite only works in Sense ROMs.

Try downloading different web browsers from the Market. My understanding is that different web browsers have different abilities for Flash.
