if you have to ask then its probably a bit advanced for you... no offense just sayin..
sometimes the button combos dont work..or you arent doing them properly...you have to be ROOTED to use ROM manager.
here use this ALL-IN-ONE tool: pretty simple to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944418

well the instructions on the serendipity site weren't all too clear to be honest...
I did steps 1-3 from the site i linked above successfully.. what would I do with the AIO tool next in order to get the 6.4 serendipity rom installed? I don't want to mess my phone up by changing from one method of rooting/flashing to another (aio). thanks.
the button combos worked for me btw before i used odin to flash jf6

Odin one click sometimes breaks the combos.
Use the AIO toolbox. It's got instructions included. Doesn't matter if you switch from the method you were using before the toolbox. Plus you're on stock eclair so it's like new right now anyway.

EASY ClockworkMod Recovery Fastboot for Cricket! [Updated: 4/23]

[04/23]
It couldnt be easier
Download openZIO-clockworkmod-recovery-pack.zip
Extract to C:\
Run "m6000_setup.msi" in the CWM folder and Follow install.
**you may encounter software signature issues, just 'install software/driver anyway'.
Plug in your phone to USB, power down.
Boot to fastboot (Hold Send/End simultaneously til fastboot starts)
open a command prompt and navigate to the "CWM" directory
Code:
cd\
cd CWM
Fastboot boot into openzio_clockwork-recovery image
Code:
fastboot boot clockwork-recovery.img
Profit.
***You will Lose your Kyocera Logo once you RESTORE (due to the way cwm dumps the boot partition).
Please download the openZIO Boot Fix and install the zip with CWM.
This will flash the correct boot image and restore your Kyocera Logo.

I have edited this initial post because I have found a workaround to get clockwork recovery to load on the ZIO without wiping data/cache.
Unfortunately, until Koush gets the module fixed to run remotely from our phones, you will need to be connected to a PC, and know how to use Fastboot.

Thanks go out to Hotaru for compiling this recovery image, and obviously to Koush for making clockworkmod recovery.
Remember to hit the "Thanks" button if I helped you.
try downloading ROM Manager from the Market and then having it install the recovery.

isnt there a custom recovery option???? bet you can save that image from the page to the sd card and then run it through rom manager???
BTW I hate rom manager LOL.... I tryied to use it to format my sd card for link2sd.... and it tried to boot thephone into boot or recovery or something.... and ended up completely factory resetting my phone
hell I had even installed a handfull of apps before it happend LOL and my dumb ass didnt do a TI backup....

Well, we used fastboot to load it up.
Then used adb to tell it to boot into recovery. There was also some key combo I forget. It's all around page 30 or so of the 1.6 thread.

Those images generally need to be flashed through fastboot, and fastboot might not even work depending on the bootloader.
you need the sdk installed first, and adb working and added to your $path.
after that
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/recovery.img
obviously, replace path/to/recoery with the actual path that you downloaded the file to.
That revocery image (I found out) is for the 1.6 OS.
Being as we have 2.2 and an updated kernel: would this recovery still work?
Guess I'll be the guinea pig for this afternoon. o.0
edit:
adb reboot bootloader is for our modem download mode.
To access fastboot, we just power down, then hold the power/end and send key simultaneously.
recovery only cares about the hardware, not the os or kernel, thats why you use it to flash custom roms and kernels. It boots before anything else is loaded.

root is root. as long as you have root and CWM you can flash Gingervolt no problem.

If that is the root method you used, you do not have cwm recovery yet. You either need to run the newest version i posted earlier (yes it is ok to run the root.bat even if you already have root!), use RevoToolkit, or install manually. Then you can install the rom.
Ok I'm going to go do that now . I'm going to use the revotoolkit. So basically what that tool kit does is allow you to install custom roms? I hope that ginger volt can speed my phones processes up. I really don't want to ask for another htc device and my only two choices to swap for was the charge and this phone. Ugh I'm so frustrated...
ok so used revtoolkit and installed it and then downloaded the gingervlt zip file to my sd card. i rebooted the phone while pressing the power and vol down key an it came up w a screen asking if i wanted to erase everything. i watched a youtube vid that said to proceed with that and nothing would be erased and it did erase everything. how do i get into that screen to exract that zip file?

The root method you used is out dated and does not remove the files to make clockwork stick. Reuse revotoolkit to reinstall cwm, after confirmed to have worked, while still in revotoolkit press menu and hit reboot recovery.

Can't install CWM after ZV9 root

I was running Ginervolt 2.0 on ZV7. I chose to install the Stock ZV8 rom using LGNPST. It eventually installed ok. Afterward it successfully installed the ZV9 Rom from the Big Red Mothership. I used @dexter35803 's VZ8/9 Root utility to root the rom and it worked. SU is installed and is allowing root access to cachemate and RomManager. However, I am not able to install Clockwork Mod.
I used Easy V8 to install CWM. it reported access denied.
I tried to install CWM using the one click method and it reported access denied errors.
My attempt to confirm CWM recovery was to use
Code:
ADB Reboot Recovery
from the command prompt to force it to boot into recovery.
That resulted in the LG Boot logo, followed by a black screen.
I used the PWR + VOL Down button to gain access to CWM, it proceded to wipe the user data like the stock recovery,
Lastly I used RomManager to install Clockwork. It succeeded in gaining root access via SU, and proceed to reboot. Now it's Stuck @ the LG Boot logo.
After waiting 5 minutes I pulled the battery. Now if I use PWR + vol down, it will wipe the user data, but again hang at the LG boot Logo.
What should I do?

use root explorer and go into system/etc/ and delete the file called install-recovery.sh
The reason why you aren't getting clockwork recovery to work is because the install-recovery.sh is a shell script designed to over write any recovery back to stock recovery on each boot. So when you run the cwr tools and the phone reboots the script immediately erases what you just did. So deleting this file before you run the tool will allow the tool to install a perminant cwr
then run V8 all in one root plus cwr here https://www.dropbox.com/s/l1090uvf1iw3jux/V8%20All%20In%20One%20-%20Root%20and%20CWM.zip
and choose install root and cwr options and viola
+1 on removing the script.
But before all that your going to need to flash the v8.tot in emergency download mode, use the test mode fix, update, use the v8 aio, and hope you have a nice day. if cwm doesn't stick then try removing the script described above and rerunning the aio smile and have a brewski for your time and trouble.

You should really read his second to last little paragraph. He used Rom Manager to install CWM when it's not supported for the phone. So now he'd have to install ZV8 through LGNPST to have a working phone again. Also, This should really be in General instead of Development.
Where should I start?
With the Phone @ the LG Boot Logo screen, the LGNPST windows application will not recognize the phone nor will ADB.
Update, found something
1. pull battery
2. pull USB
3. hold [PWR] + [vol Up]
4. Plug in USB
5. Wait for display to flash and read "Downloads in progress. Do not Disconnect cable. "
But this only lets me update the phonebook, not flash a rom or use ADB. what now?
When you select the phonebook file to flash, use the instructions on selecting the v8.tot. It'll flash everything, not just the phonebook.
Sent from my VS910 4G using XDA
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't cwm not available for v9? So going higher than v8 is useless until the way to install cwm is figured out, besides I don't remember seeing any posting that there said that there is a custom ROM for v9 yet.

able to flash rom
I found an old machine in the basement today with Windows XP installed Nativity on the machine. I was using an XP VM for this. I was able to use LGNPST to successfully flash the TOT files while the phone working. I was not able to flash after bricking it.
Now with a native XP machine, I am able to flash the rom.
Sorry all for the noob-ism. Its been a long weekend here.
Also, is there no CWM for ZV9? How would I find out? I thought there would be a Sticky for that.

test mode fix
I found the thread on
Code:
[URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26737282#post26737282"]Test Mode Fix[/URL]
But it just crashes in XP native. Any thoughts? I have installed DotNet 3.5 Framework, but that doesn't seem to work.
Well, I found the zv4 TOT rom that I could download from. (most of them now only let the owner re-download.)
I flashed it with LGNPST. So with this FroYo rom, it no longer reported to be in Test Mode, when plugging in a USB cable. However, it also would not update through
Code:
Settings Menu --> About Phone --> Software Update --> Check New.
I used LGNPST again to flash the ZV7 rom over ZV4. However the phone again reports being it test mode @ startup and when plugging in to a PC.
I hope the VZW store can fix this, i am all out of ideas.
I would try the test mode fix on another computer first. Test mode is an obvious sign you did something you weren't supposed to do
You may have to run it a couple of times for it to fix test mode. You'll know when it works, after reboot you will see USB icons in the notification bar.

not rebooting on recovery problem

Hi all.
As stated in the subject, I can't reboot into recovery mode using ROM Manager. I'd like to flash CM. but when I try to reboot into recovery to start backup, wipe, flash, nothing happened. It will just stay in ROM Manager.
Tried downloading different version of CWM from the latest version down to v5.0.0.1 but to no avail.
Read some posts regarding this problem saying that I should download v3 something of CWM but when I try to download older CWM version from RM -> All CWM Recoveries, only 5.0.0.1 is the lowest.
Any idea? I really like to flash CM into my OB. Thanks in advance.

Flashing Recovery

Hello, i just bought an LG Optimus 2x p-990, the first thing i did was updating to official ICS, but similar to my previous phone, i cant stand the stock rom and wanted to flash a custom one (havnt decided yet witch rom i want). After some trouble i finally rooted my phone, but now im stuck at trying to flash a new recovery. When i try flashing it through rom manager it says the device hast an official recovery yet, and when i try flashing this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745) (note: i have usb debugging on and when i run it super user notifys that was given permision to shell) the cmd prompt opens for some seconds and closes again, and when i try to boot into recovery it goes to the stock recovery that wipes my phone.
Maybe this has been answered in here but believe me when i say i searched for the answer extensivly.
Hope i can get some help.
make it simple, install rom manager then install recovery..
I explained that i can not do it. ROM manager says the device is not listed and when i try to manually install the recovery it says permission denied.
Download and install nvflash driver(often called ATX) and install it. Then dl AIO all in one tool, from there you can install Cwm(can also be nvflashed) You can't use rom manager as it's not compatible with the new bootloader and partition table
