Hello,
I installed CM11 on my galaxy s gti9000. All went fine but I get some errors. I tried one nightly build and I constantly got this error: " Unfortunately media manager has stopped." Now with the latest build Download manager isn't working, neither does the gallery. I get a similar error. I can disable those apps but I'll not be able to download apps from google play store. I'm certain that I did something wrong as I'm a newbie in this stuff. Any help?

I think it was from 2.3 as the tutorial said. It was like a month ago so I'm not sure... Is there anyway I can downgrade to a good version and then install CM11 again? If yes, what version do you recommend me?

Actually, downgrade doesn't seem to be necessary in your case. I would on your place first try to install ROM again as "clean installation" and it should work well.
download latest CM11 nigtly ROM
download Gapps from the opening post
paste the files on the root folder of either internal or external SD card of your i9000
reboot to recovery mode
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik cache (under "advanced")
install zip CM11
install Gapps
reboot
enjoy
Any news about your CM11-Installation??? Does it work now with clean-install-tutorial ???

Hello, sorry for late response. I did a clean install as suggested with the 29 december nightly rom and everything works great now. Before the install, I was getting another error, something with android.process.media has stopped working and I deleted every media file on my internal sdcard because I had lots it (few hundreds I think). I don't know which solution worked but everything works fine now. Thx for the support.

No problem, thanks and great to hear that your CM11 now works as desgined :good:
The media-process sometimes makes problems, you can clean data and a few time later it will start again searching for media files ...this should work ...

Hi all,
I don't know if i am posting in the right place - i tried other area but it would not let me post up.
I have installed the latest version of L-Droid and I had no issues - Flashed Rom, Flashed GApps, Flashed Boeffla (Omni).
Once my phone has gone through a (lightning fast) reboot it synced by with Play Store and installed all my apps etc etc.
I am having trouble installing apps from outside the store though - more specifically Whatsapp+. On all previous ROMS I have had zero issues but on this one I get the usual parsing error (There was a problem parsing the package).
I have checked the usual suspects (e.g. Unknown Sources) and I feel like I have hit a brick wall.
Can anyone please help?
Nobody can help?
Just installed latest CM12.1 along with gapps latest pico (1204). Install all OK but on first boot it gets stuck at the "no sim card installed" screen. Every time I hit skip play services stop and then I'm back at "no sim card". Have restored to previous working backup of CM from 1202 (CM of 1203 was also OK but no otg).
Going to retry with earlier gapps in case that was the problem. Anyone else had similar?
Gapps Problem
I have heard reports of people having trouble with Gapps on 12.1 for the fire. From what I understand you have to use the ARM Pico Gapps for it to work properly. That is what I used and have never encountered the problem you are describing.

Yes, using pico and no probs with two previous builds of CM12.1, only with today's build. Unfortunately I can't find either yesterday's CM build or gapps, thought I'd saved them. Going to try today's CM again with the only other gapps I have which is from a week or so ago.
Re the above, what are the risks of doing a more complete wipe in twerp before installing a rom? So far just doing a factory reset and flashing over but would like to make sure I wipe any existing gapps otherwise I suspect that an older version will not update a newer. Is it safe to wipe the system partition?
I am also having this issue installing the latest version of CM. Just got my tablet today so I don't have any previous versions of the rom or gapps to test with. If you find links to older versions of these can you let me know.

I can't find yesterday's version of ggow's CM but for an earlier gapps you can go to rootjunkies download site at rootjunkysdl.com and in the "Android Fire 5th gen" section under CM12 there are earlier versions of both CM and gapps.
Where I am now is with a working version of today's CM12.1 (to whit, 20151204) which I flashed over a restore from a couple of days ago without installing gapps so that I'm using the gapps that were in the restored setup, those, I think, are from the 1st or 2nd of this month. So far all seems fine but I've only just down it so there's not been much testing (eg. Otg)
It's also worth getting rootjunkies "SuperTool" as it has a convenient option to boot recovery when you have trouble starting twerp (at least it helped me)

Guess its a problem with the latest gapps build, or an incompatibility between gapps and the latest CM.
OTG is now working for me but with the problem that when a USB drive is removed android seems to think that the SD card is gone and invalidates any apps stored on it ( though it is still available in file manager) until a reboot. This is is not unique to CM so I suppose it's an android problem; the same thing happens on my Hudl2 running kk4.4.4 and my Moto G running L5.1, though on the Hudl2 you can get around it by just yanking the USB device without unmounting.. Makes using otg a real pain!
I have been having this problem as well. I installed the latest CM12.1 with the latest OpenGAPPS and the play store (google services) kept crashing repeatedly. I tried all the different latest GAPPS. and nothing would work.
The GAPPS from rootjunkies 20151120 did however work. Thanks for pointing me to that version.
I have a quick questions concerning the update to CM13:
(I'm running the latest 12.1 nightly, which is getting quite old I guess, so I read in the developer forum that the latest CM13 build are running quite well, but I'm not really sure how to update..)
- In the developer forum I seem to understand it's recommended to download the nightly, also download gapps and install both before booting again, right?!
- But - will I keep my data, apps, settings?
- Do I have to take care of sth else? (I already made a nandroid backup and copied the sd card)
- I'm also unsure because the CM updater just offers me the newest CM13 nightlies .... could I just click on install there?!!?!
(Hope it's okay to ask these questions )
Yes, you could just install CM 13 from the updater and lose nothing. However it is recommended to wipe the device, then install CM 13.
THanks for help, it didn't work as easy yesterday. (I had to flash cm-13.0-20160119-NIGHTLY-victara and open_gapps-arm-6.0-nano-20160120 in TWRP manually, or maybe just the gapps manually because before that CM would "optimize apps" until it would reboot again, it never stopped. After flashing nano gapps it worked somehow...)
But today I destroyed everything again, :crying:
I clicked on the cm-13.0-20160120-NIGHTLY-victara update from within CM (CM updater)
It went to TWRP, applied the update, rebooted and since then it is in this bootloop again, I had yesterday
but flashing gapps doesn't fix it today
- someone got an idea how to fix this?; the most thing I care about are the new Messages in Whatsapp Messenger I didn't read before clicking on the update ... is there a way to keep them? (For example, if I back up /data now, wipe my phone, install CM13, restore /data ... would this work?!)
it would be great if someone could help me, I read the forums, but so far nothing I tried worked.
(I tried flashing todays nightly, yesterdays, my last step was wiping /system and then installing CM, gapps ... but it stays in this bootloop)
Sorry for being a newbie; if there's no help, please just tell me that there's no way to get back my unread messages, then I'll wipe and start from scratch :crying:
I somehow managed to boot once again, backup my Whatsapp data, then I wiped everything, made a clean install and everything was fine exept some data loss ..
(If someone has the same problem I might have some tips, but I'm not sure)
Until it started to bootloop again
But I think I know what my problem was and is. Back in CM12.1 I had the Google Search app "deactivated", after the update to CM13 ... I think I deactivated it again and that's what caused the endless boot.
(I just tried it again now after an backup, it's the cause, I hope after restoring the backup I didn't destroy everything again
But ... is this okay behavior? Back in CM12 I could disable Google Search without problems..
- Should I report this somewhere? Where? or is it not important?
- Would there be a way to "activate" Google Search from outside the OS?
I cant seem to find a reliable gapps for CM12.1, SlimLP and Resurrection Remix. I have tried Dankomans slim mini, TkGapps, OpenGapps pico, nano, full, they all install just fine but then when the system boots and i try to login to the play store to update my apps they all start 505ing and its usually just google apps and services, i seem to be able to install other non google apps just fine.
If someone could help point me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it, ive been flashing for hours, im at my wits end. :crying::crying::crying:

Open GAaps arm/5.1/nano works fine. Your problem lies elsewhere. Be sure to do a full wipe and flash GAaps concurrent with rom. Leave FlashFire defaults alone.
I tried to use Open Gapps and it didnt work for SlimLP, so I installed CM12.1 with Open Gapps, I am getting the same problems with CM12.1, So i said lets try another rom, I installed Resurrection Remix, same problem, so i tried tkgapps same thing. why is it 505ing with every gapps package and rom that i Use? is there something im doing wrong? Perhaps the newer builds on open gapps have probelms? Should i try an older build? I am using flashfire 0.53
Here is what i do when flashing list order first to last:
1. Wipe: System Data, 3rd Party apps, Dalvik, Internal storage, Cache Partition
2. Install Rom.xxx.zip (default ff settings)
3. install SuperSU (default settings)(if necessary)
4. Install Gapps package (Default ff settings)
everything goes through smoothly, i get to a good running environment. Then, once I add my google account and open the store, it attempts to check for updates. Updates are usually available for google webview etc, they all fail with a 505. Tried, removing account then signing back in, changing time, clearing cache stopping processes, nothing seems to solve the issue.
so ive finally encountered a solution to at least get everything running. Install CM12.1 with TKgapps (tk_gapps-modular-pico(uni)-5.1.1-20150920-signed.zip) NOT opengapps. Not sure why opengapps isnt working right now but its not, with no rom that i have tried (fire 7" 2015) other versions of tkgapps didnt work either they also 505ed on me, but these ones work great.
You can find them here:
https://basketbuild.com/devs/osm0sis/gapps
Still hoping for good working gapps for SlimLP (my favorite so far)
yeah... so even after all of that, i woke up just to find it 505ing again. fml.
i have never had this problem with any rom for any other device, EVER. this is so frustrating.
I gave up on finding a fully functional gapps package for any roms on this device. What I did is just force update every apk 505ing on me through ADB. Everything is running smoothly now. Will update if anything changes. (should have done this like 5 hours ago... but when you are tired you dont think straight... hahahaha)
:crying: :cyclops:

Sorry to hear of all the problems w/GAaps packages. Seems to be a 1-off as a large community uses Open GAaps on this device w/o issue. Multiple ROMs.
