Im on GingerReal but im not sure about which kernel im running. This is what it says under kernel version:
2.6.35.7.I9000XWJVH-CL184813
[email protected] #Voodoo
Sat May 14 22:49:50 CEST 2011
Can anyone tell me what kernel it is please?
The reason i want to is because i want to update to 5.2 GingerReal but it doesnt support Voodoo Sound and i want it. So which kernels support voodoo sound that i can use on GingerReal?
You're with the hacked gingerbread voodoo kernel of supercurio. That's what's used in the GingerReal ROMs. You can generally use almost any other JVO kernel for the latest version of GingerReal coz almost all of the kernels have one or another version of Voodoo sound. And all kernels support voodoo sound but not all developers implement it. You can just buy Voodoo Sound Control Plus app and you'll always have the latest version of Voodoo Sound with any kernel you use.

Thanks for the reply. I take it that all kernels apart from speedmod have voodoo control?

Various kernels have Voodoo sound built into them , they say in the features list if you want to check. Voodoo control Plus though inserts the sound module into any kernel(even stock kernels) and as you update the app you get the latest voodoo sound module
try semaphore kernel for gingerbread...it has CF-Root + voodoo sound v9 + OC/UV + BLN
I'm sure if you had looked in the gingereal thread you would of found your answer! Worth a thought

I rebased on the latest source from Samsung, JPX. Yes, it's still i9k based. Hopefully it helps a little with battery and such, won't know till it's been out for a while. The speedmod patch has also been updated, but the OC patch is the same. I also included my backport of the auto-group scheduler patch. So far, both of them are working well for me.
Both kernels are voodoo enabled and will enable voodoo if you don't already have it. If you don't want that, you need to install the voodoo-disable zip before flashing, or just put the disable-lagfix file in place before flashing. If you already have voodoo enabled on your phone, you do NOT need to disable it before flashing these kernels, as long as your current kernel has voodoo recovery (red Clockwork recovery), you are good to go.
Tested on Nero V4, but should work on other Froyo based ROMs as well.
If you are going to try the OC version, please download both of them and have the normal version ready, just in case. You can also use adb push from Clockwork if you can get it booted to recovery. Clockwork also has USB storage you can enable to be able to mount your phone's memory cards from a computer, so that you can put the non-OC version on there if you get stuck.

Voodoo Sound
Nice. How much can the kernel overclock?

I'm hoping it does, too!
Very nice!!! Thanks supercurio and ttbabbal!
I'm hoping it works out well...curse Samsung for not releasing the 2.2 vibrant source yet, though.
External SD Mount issue
Everything works great but I no longer can mount my external SD card. That's where I keep all my music. Anyone else having this issue?
I will probably get flamed... but what is the difference in the speedmod patch and the dragon kernal. I was a bit confused in understanding what the speedmod patch is and does. Thanks!
any way to make the new 5.1 voodoo sound kernels compatiable with the vibrant JL5 latest source from Samsung, JPx its not for vibrant kernel
Just to clarify, for full Voodoo Sound experience, will we also need to install the Voodoo Sound app from the Market?

That's right. It allows you to control the parameter, which is so far for Vibrant only the headphone amplifier level.

Looking forward to hopefully being able to one day control the microphone AGC on the vibrant!

Considering the DoW kernel made my screen shake / flicker and this OC one doesn't, I'd say yes. Voodoo sound is also a nice plus.

This started out as an educational exercise just to see if I could do it. That snowballed into what we have today. The goal was to build a high performing lightweight kernel and here it is.
This new 2.x version includes the ability to OC to 1.2GHz. You must use setCPU to enable it. By default the kernel will boot to use the stock frequency range of 100-1000Hz and work just like the prior versions of OverStock. With the use of setCPU you can expand the range to include 1.2GHz. Try running 1.2GHz without the set at boot option atleast a day or two to make sure your phone can handle the overclock.
I've added links to updated non-OC'd kernels. These all have Supercurio's Voodoo sound v7 update.
Includes:
Version 2.4.1
More internal stability tweaks
When set to 100-1000/Conservative or no SetCPU installed it works just like 1.x versions of OverStock
Safe to use SetCPU Screen Off profiles set to 100-400/Conservative
Voodoo Sound v7 (Make sure to grab the Voodoo Control App from the market to fully utilize this feature)

Flash through RED RECOVERY only to install. If you're on a ULF kernel, flash back to a stock+Voodoo kernel first.
Use this at your own risk. Always make a backup before flashing. I would also recommend using neldar's SGS Kernel Flasher from the market to backup your current kernel.
I would like to thank the following people for making this possible:
morfic for all the help and making time to answer my questions
supercurio for all the Voodoo magic he has worked on SGS devices
neldar for the great BLN patch and Market app to use it
Download, Flash, and Enjoy!

I think I'm going to put this on a weekly update schedule. Look for updates and fixes to arrive on Monday evenings.
Version 2.2 is now available for download. Hopefully everyone finds this to be a very stable 1.2GHz overclock.
I wanted to also thank birgertime and Whitehawkx for the additional testing help.

No, flash through RED RECOVERY only. I.E. Voodoo kernel. If you are on pure stock, you should flash a stock+voodoo kernel, then flash this.
Great kernel by the way! Enjoying it with Bionix V 1.2.1

CF-Root kernel.
Don't use cf-root kernel. JVH uses changed RFS filesystem. For now best method is using voodoo kernel for JVH

Yep, no need for kernel, as long as you're rooted you just need Voodoo Control Plus, supercurio's made it easier than ever to get great sound, buy the app, support the legend

The free version requires a custom kernel. The paid version does not. Read the description of the apps in the market for more information. Be sure to rate the apps 5* as well because they work great.

I'll rate it as soon as my get my SGS working again. I've been installing a few different custom kernels and mods just trying to find one that I like that had the Voodoo kernel. I can now go back to stock JVH! WOO!
I installed the voodoo control plus from the market and it works very well.
Hello friends!
I am on DarlyROM 9.5 with Darkcore 1.4 Kernal and as to what I have noticed, this ROM/Kernal has Voodoo Sound but not Voodoo Color. I somehow feel that the colors of my phone have a greenish tone and white isnt exactly white. Is it possibele to install Voodoo Color and if yes, whats the procedure?
Thank you.
I tried to install Voodoo Color via Odin but it gave me a bootloop. Can someone please explain me the procedure...
Did you download the voodoo control app?
Yes I did but it shows controls for Voodoo sound only and not for color
Your kernel does not support voodoo color.
You have 2 solution:
1- flash another kernel that support voodoo color and use voodoo control app
2- keep your current kernel and pay for voodoo control "pro" app (this one works even if your kernel does not support voodoo color)

I think you are right.
i didnt matter if we have VCP (I think VCP just supporting for Voodoo Sound module load ...) and for addition vodoo colour you must have a kernel that support the vodoo colour..
So change your kernel that support voodoo colour (have voodoo colour sh )
Can you please recommend me a good FROYO ROM or a kernal that supports Voodoo Color & call recording...

Why do you want an 2.2 Rom ?
I would say try CM7.1+Glitch v13 or any Sammy based Rom like jetpack, which are having voodoo kernel mods .

I tried a few GB roms like DarkyROM 10.2.2 and also a few with Semaphore but I feel that with Froyo, my photo operations are very smooth. With GB, its gets pretty slow. Moreover, Call recording is a must have feature for me and I cant find any GB ROM with that feature.

I guess Voodoo sound is not compatible with Note as its not listed in the supported devices list.
Voodoo louder works though.I have personally tested CF kernel, Abyss kernel and Franco kernel they all are supported with voodoo louder.
