[Q] Using Skype on Incredible S - HTC Incredible S

Hi,
Is there anybody here who can use audio on skype with the Incredible S for a long time ? Before the gingerbread update, mine cannot use audio for more than 1 minute. After the upgrade, I still have the same problem.
I can see my contacts connected. I can call them. But after talking for about 1 minutes, sometimes may be 10 seconds, the audio became horrible, slow and jerky.
How to solve this problem ? I have an HTC HD2 and it works a lot better. Even SIP cannot work properly on the IS where as my HD2 does not have any problem. What's happenning ? Is this a software problem or hardware problem ? Do you have the same problem or not ?
Thanks in advance for your help, your tips or your replies.

i belive this issue is related to the single issue
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065020&highlight=reception
that tin foil trick might work
but personally i do not "cup" my phone when making calls and rarely cover the wi-fi antenna

Waouw ! I just learn a new thing from you. I'm surprised. Does that mean wifi on IS is not good enough ? That's why I cannot use Wifi for calling whatever is the software. According to some other post found with the search tool here, some people seems to have nearly the same problem, if it's not exactly the same. Like with the HTC Sensation model. In this case, HTC makes me very disappointed ... so please reassure me !
PS: I won't cup my phone ! I prefer to buy another brand

It's ok. I replaced the sip software by another one, Linphone, and it works pretty good. So I'm happy that wifi is not the origin of my problem. For Skype, still nothing. I believe that skype audio is not optimized for the incredible S.

can't you just use fring? i believe that supports incredible s. I haven't used it to talk with anyone since no one i know has a front facing camera

Poor Sound Quality (Person on Other End Complains)

Hello All,
I am running Dutty's Dual Touch v1.1 Rom with radio 1.27.12.17 on my ATT Tilt. The device is brand new, 6 days old now. Whenever I make a phone call, I can hear the other person perfectly. However I have consistently heard complaints from the person on the other end of the line. They complain that they can't hear me, saying I sound muffled or far away. In some cases they can't hear me at all, and I would have to call the other person back. Sometimes they can hear me perfectly, and sometimes they cant. I'd say its 50/50, good and bad. What could be the problem?
Thanks,
thehin
I have similar problem. Sometimes people just can't hear me well, but I always can hear everyone perfectly. During the normal call it happens not very often, but the loudspeaker is almost unusable, in most cases none can here what I speak.
I have a good GSM coverage in my area, my old Nokia 6680 produced a good call quality.
I have standard ROM 1.56.405.5 (08/28/07), Radio: 1.27.12.11
I think, it is probably something in the Kaiser's hardware, because I’ve heard about similar problems from different people with totally different ROMs and radios.
Big Problem
This is a huge problem for me, it's somewhat embarrassing when people can't hear you, and you are forced to call back or call from another phone. I have full service, and have no problems with data connections. Could it be due to a constant connection????
Is your data connection active when you're on the phone? If so, try turning them off and then making calls. I think I read somewhere (or made up in my head) that the 3G connection messes with your call connection.
I expiernece the problem in both scenarios. I turned off 3G through comm manager, and it still happens. I even disabled data all together and it still happened. :-(!!!

I think it is nothing to do with the data connection, mine is mostly off, but the problem remains. Theres some cases the sound just floating, according to recipients and they just cant hear what I am saying.
If anyone DOES NOT experience the same problems, can you please be kind enough to share your ROM version, and radio version?
Thanks
Has nothing to do with ROM type. The Mic on the HTC8925 / Tilt / kaiser is located at bottom right-hand edge of the device. Although your voice sound travels through all of the bottom parts of the device, the most sensitive spot is the small hole next to the mini USB plug in. If you are holding the phone and covering the bottom part of the phone with your palm, then the person on the other side of the call will not hear you well.
To test, start HTC recorder or Resco Recorder program and while tapping on various areas of the phone surface observe the behavior of the decibel meter on the Recording program. You will then discover the most sound sensitive spot of your device.
I will give that a try. However the other night when I was talking to someone, they claimed they couldn't hear me at all, and I was coming in and out. I checked my reception, full service. No data connection, no bluetooth, no wifi, no 3G, no GPS, no apps running. I then held the phone out and talked directly into the mic, he still could not hear me. I held the phone a little farther away, still no go. One person said I sounded like i was whispering off a mountain peak.
ARGGHH :-( I love this phone, but this is pretty annoying.

You mentioned you were running Dutty's Dual Touch v1.1 Rom with radio 1.27.12.17 on my ATT Tilt. Have you tried to flashed back to the original Rom to see if you still have the same problem?

LOL thats exactly how the Titan sounds through bluetooth, only it so happens to sound that way. on our side of the call.
Finally!
I'm so glad to find other people suffering the same problem.
I'm battling with Handtec & HTC to try and resolve this issue, it's driving me *and callers* mad.
I've been waiting 3 months for this to be resolved and Handtec have finally agreed to replace it... but if this is a common problem, a replacement isn't likely to resolve it. £440 is a lot of money for something you can only use 50% of the time.
I also has the same problem. People sometimes just told me that they hear nothing frommy side suddently for a few seconds.
The only way to "contain" it is using Bluetooth, this way so far I never found problem any more.
ROM: 1.56.708.3
Radio: 1.27.12.11
Well my At&t Tilt is stock, i mean i havent change any radio roms or what ever, and I have the same problem, sometimes people complaint they cant hearme, I know its very anoying, but on my case its not like a 50/50, its more 75/25 (25 they cant hear) this happend on the 2 o 3 first days I had the phone, After that or the people I call can hear me, or the problem persist and they dont tell me.
I see the microphone its on the bottom of the phone, I think its because of that, when people complain I simply put it on speaker and talk directly to the microphone (but I dont know if this works ) hehe
Good morning and Happy New Year
I have had the same problem but after upgrading to Dutty's Dual Touch v2 Rom and radio 1.27.12.32 the sound is excellent, tested it yesterday and both on speaker and off speaker is very clear. My advice if you do not want to move to Dutty's v2 then at least flash the Radio to .32
Good luck
I don't have the problem. I'm using a TyTN II version with stock ROM. Got it when it came out so a few months ago.
I have the same problem, and mine is stock standard. Also tried it with and woth out 3G, blue tooth ect ect ect ect same problem.
Any Advice Anyone.
On another site, the issue was discussed and some one suggested the issue was caused by a .dll file conflict that routs or attempts to rout calls to HTC recorder program. It was also suggested to remove any recording software from the device or disable its call recording in the settings and see what happens.
I have been trying to look for a solution for that problem, Finally I decided to let go and stop using the loudspeaker option
I am trying to research this on other related forums and will get back to you if I am lucky.....
I got the same problem, but the person on the other end of the line can't hear me, with or without the loudspeaker option!!
Has anybody found a fix for this?

Skype 2.5 released

Looks like a minor upgrade. There is a PPC version and a Smart phone version, not sure of the differences or which is best for the Touch Pro.
Hi,
It is a major upgrade since a new voice engine is included.
The on the touch pro you need to install the pocket pc version.

Does it fix the issue with the sound playing out of the back speaker instead of the front one?
My company just made skype standard platform for internet call. Just wonder if this PDA version ad free? I installed desktop version but hate the pop-ups and silly ad on top. Well, I knew I should not complain as I use it for free.
ok i have a question. if i install this skype on my phone and my friend in india installs skype on his phone as well are those calls free if we can call each other through skype? I am always around wifi in the US and my friend has internet on his phone all the time since its dirt cheap (30 cents a day for unlimited in case your wondering)

did they fix the speaker/earpiece problem?
do u guys know if this skype can be used with bluetooth headset?
"00" = "+" to make calls
Maybe this is common knowledge, but it took me an hour to find answer, which I eventually found on skype forums. I've used skype on PC for couple years, but just installed it on Fuze.
Problem is, you have to dial numbers in international format. For USA, that means you dial a "+1" before the area code and number. Skype 2.5 softphone has no way to type a "+" symbol and you cannot set it up to do so automatically like Skype on PC. Also, it does not accept input from our phones keyboard.
So, I found on Skype forums if you type "00" it equals the "+" symbol. Maybe its common knoweldge, but it gave me a hell of a time. Hope it helps.
...anyone know how to import Outlook Mobile Contacts into Skype mobile contacts?
Current Pocket PC version: 2.5.0.170. Release date: February 16, 2009 solved problem with Skype shuting down upon initiating skype call on my Touch Pro with Proven 1.14a ROM.
Finally I can make calls with skype on TP
Hey guys, I tested this over an EVDO data connection and wifi with and without a headset (wired). The quality of voice call was acceptable in every circumstance on both ends. However, not sure if this is an issue with my wireless ISP, using the EVDO data (and this has never happened) my data connection was disconnected within a minute or 2 in 3 consecutive calls. I have never had a disconnect issue before, and I did not receive a standard call to my phone in that period of time. Again, I am not sure if this is Skype causing the issue, or an issue with my stock Bell Mobility ROM/ISP. My guess would be Bell.
has anyone tried to use this with bluetooth headset?

My guess is there is a registry setting or three to adjust related to the default audio gateway instructions for Skype output, but I had trouble locating them before flying overseas (and therefore, using a WIRED headset for every skype call). I will look again, but anyone who has this fix, or an idea about solving the problem, please weigh in.
If this can be taken care of, then the "Call using Skype" option in Contacts may actually make Skype on a mobile work like a true IP phone client and change my mind about leaving Skype running on my mobile al the time instead of forwarding incoming Skypes to my mobile number (and paying for the forwarding) in an effort to avoid every answered Skype call being on speakerphone by default.

There is no registry setting or such thing (also see the Skype forums for this issue) to achieve this. According to the developer(s) they have no possibility to use the earpiece speaker from their code as the phone OS will not allow this...

P.S. If anyone finds a way, please share as this issue is very annoying indeed!
test results
OK, so the speaker issue is not resolved.
As mentioned before, physical keyboard is not working: on-screen keyboard fine.
I only use skype on wifi, but for me the call quality is improved.
So, other than the keyboard issue, it's a good update.
to use skype through the earpice instead of the speaker just install troca2.cab works perfect

[Q] Skype on G1 with Froyo

I have Skype installed on my G1 with Biffmot 2.0.1 ROM (Froyo). I have to say is not such a great experience. It is very slow and while in a call it cuts a lot. I mean this is not from lack of bandwidth, it seems it is a resource problem. I overclocked to 633 and is the same.
There is one trick that solves the problem. While in a skype call, I press the End Call button to turn off the screen and it becomes usable. How about that?
Does anyone have it installed and if yes, how is it for you?
Thanks.
thanks for the tip about turning the screen off for better sound... it was driving me krazy :}

i have 14mB hack +2708 Cyanogen rom 6.1 test on my htc magic 32B
just saw ur thread..thanks for the tip..it seems to work on skype test call.
I tried same thing by using the handsfree..that seems to be working on skype test call as well.
i can say its not abt mobile processor speed. it has something to do with the power supply to display or speaker system which skype has to sort out.
i got nokia n900 .it has 600Mhz processor and skype is working flawless on it even doing video.. so why not devices like 528-600Mhz android can do the same. both are using Linux.unix kernels.
during call ram is around 20-24 MB on new radio .
i shall try calling friend using skype using both tips separately and then combined..let see how good it proves to be true.
if any one has more test results please post ur experience with how many minutes calls u made and over what data connected u tried(wifi or 3G).thanks

[Q] Dual Sim for O2X

Hi all,
does anyone know if exists an adapter to make O2X dual SIM. It would be GREAT because i have a personal mobile (O2X) and a mobile for my work and i would like to use the two SIM card in the same mobile.
Thanks by advance for your answers
The dual sim converters at ebay will work, since it does for my spica.
do you still have the link to the object please?
nobody ? please some answers
Did you try search for it at ebay?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
yes but it gives me nothing
Never tried but is it that ?
http://www.redferret.net/?p=10340
None of the adapters will work with any 3g networks so if your network only does 3g and up forget about it.
There are lots here. 3G is working too. But only 1 sim is active.

Hi.
I´m from Germany and I had the same problem (two SIM, one privat and one for work). I bought a digital dual-SIM-adapter from g-telware (just search for it on google). This one is working pretty well. The SIM from my employment/work is a twin-bill, so I´m able to use and switch 3 Numbers (two on twin-bill-card and one on privat) via STK-App.
Unfortunately it only works with the Stock-ROM or a MoDaCo-based Rom. On CM7-based ROMs I have the problem, that switching between the SIM-Cards ends in an error massage saying like "We are sorry! The application com.phone.android isn´t working any more. Please try again later." (translated from German, I think the English massage should sound different).
Anyway, I don´t really think, that this is a problem of the adapter then a problem of the phone-apk used in CM7. Noone was able to tell me, how to solve that problem or why it happens, so I´m back to Stock-ROM.
Maybe someone here (for example some expert ) could have an solvation to that problem?
Big thanks for this good answer. I found g-telware website. But there are many SIM Card. Do you remember which one you buy?
I search a "no cut" adapter. If possible that is compatible with UMTS/HSPDA.
For your problem, maybe you can try to take phone.apk from Stock Rom and replace it in CM7. Or better, you can wait gingerbread update, i saw on another thread that it is scheduled in 15 days.
Thanks by advance

I´ve chosen the GDSA3G (search for "Art.Nr."). I tryed the GDS16th-A before, because I baught a Samsung Wave before. That one doesn´t work correctly in P990.
The phone.apk is not replaceable in a common way. I tried that with root explorer app, the phone.apk crashed.
So I will have to wait for the Update, but I doubt, that it´ll be released in 15 days. On the other hand, I´m of the opinion, that there has to be an explainable (and much more changeable) reason for that error in CM7. The only thing might be, that such a constellation like a dual-SIM-adapter is very rare, so that no one has ever thought about it (unfortunately).
Ok, i watched GDSA3G on the website. Can you confirm that you have to cut the sim cards ?

Solution for phone.apk crash?
Just want to mention, that I did a call forwarding from the "work" SIM-card to my private SIM. So people can call me at any time. In that case you should ask your employer, if there will be any costs doing this (in my case it doesn´t matter, because both SIMs are Telekom).
I´m still dissatisfied with the crashing of the phone.apk. Maybe one of the moderators could make this problem official?

Dual SIM on CM or MIUI build ROM
Hey Guy`s!
Already investigated a little in the above mentioned and apparently there`s no big shot at this issue within CM or MIUI Community! I know there`s one guy got it running with his own efforts on CM, don`t know about MIUI. I`m using MAGICCARD 3G, it`s a china made digital cut adapter which works flawlessley on all froyo and gingerbread builds with STK.apk. No probs here with battery issues or disconnects or whatsoever, just fine. Heard that it should work with it`s built-in 007 mode (switching by dialing 001/002) in CM builds, never tested it myself though. Probably I´ll give it a try the next days!
Regards BG1
Also got it running flawlessly here. Dual sim 28th gen Plus cut from www.magic-sim.com

[Q] Severe phone calls problem

Hey there,
I know it has been discussed partly, but with I think different aspects and details than I have. To cut it short: in about 50% of my phone calls, be it with good or bad reception, people cannot hear me speak on the phone.
The fun thing is, this cannot be connected to the internal microphone since I have it both on the normal mic as well as my bluetooth headset. No matter whether I call them or they call me. Sometimes (!) it helps to mute and re-enable the microphone on-screen, but this is not always effective. I thought this may be related to a bad combination of firmware and radio, but I recently switched to InsertCoin GE und updated both FW and radio, to no avail as regards to that matter. Furthermore, sometimes phonecalls just drop in the middle of a conversation, with no change in signal quality as far as I recognize.
Does this sound like some software thingy (and one might have a solution) or would you believe this is hardware related?

can you do a nandroid backup and try with another ROM? You could also ask in the thread of the ROM if someone got a similar problem.
I would also downgrade the firmware to the latest for HTC One (non GE). this should not be the problem but just to be sure
