Hi,
I have a gsm based tab and i am running ssserpine's gsm alpha 2.5 hc port.
I also have an old linksys 2.4ghz with the latest firmware on it.
When i turn the wifi on the tab it cannot find my network. It finds my neighbours though. When i had froyo this didn't happen. However, when i put it on overcome 1.6.4 i couldn't find it as well. I used wifi analyzer and wifi manager qand they couldn't find it as well. Please help.
Thanks
Btw
It is 802.11g.

I cannot get wifi tethering to work on my Droid 1 when running MIUI, stock froyo, or Cyanogen. I have tried Wireless Tether on all three ROMS, I can connect to the phone, but no Internet data is transferred. I'm currently using MIUI 12.3 and found that it has a built in wifi tether that also fails. Barnacle didn't work either.
From what I can figure out this may be either a kernel issue (I never changed it from stock, but MIUI may have its own?) or a problem with how I achieved root (superoneclick). I appreciate any and all advice! Thanks!
I run both a rooted 2.1 stock and NookieFroyo. One thing I noticed about Nookie is that the adhoc performance when tethering to my Droid1 is HORRIBLE. This has been consistent between versions 056 to 068. I decided to replace the wpa_supplicant with this one and VIOLA! Rock solid adhoc performance with my Droid1.
This is tested on NookieFroyo 0.6.8 and a Droid1 running 2.2.1 using both Barnacle and WifiTetherForRootUsers.
Hi How do I enable the adhoc on my nook to work to connect to WIFI through my phone. I have been reading through a lot and I'm so stuck. I just left it alone for a few days. It was getting on my nerves. I want to be able to connect to wifi on my phone. Oh and just to add, I do not know how to use ADB. The driver issue and the sdk is rocket science to me. Any help that you can provide will be a great help.
from what i understand, the wireless tether in the market is an older version. Use one of the more updated wifi tether versions found on their site at....
code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
i believe any wifi tether after .05 will have infrastruce tethering available as well. I was frustrated with not being able to tether too, but this fixed my problems.
Thanks, your attached wpa supplicant has my tethering working quite fast, whereas before it hardly worked at all
So on my 7'' tab when running the stock AT&T firmware and also the Overcome 2.3.3 rom WPA Enterprise works and ad-hoc doesn't.
After changing the wifi supplicant file to a ad-hoc compatible one ad-hoc works and WPA Enterprise doesn't. Does anyone have any ideas?
Which AD HOC file did you use?
I used several of them, and all seem to no avail,
Thank you
This is the only thread that came up when I searched the Galaxy Tab forums (all) for "supplicant"
I USED to have one that worked great, but like a nitwit lost it when I upgraded to Overcome 2.4 or whatever because it was on the internal SD card and not the external. I thought it was posted here on XDA but I guess not.
I'll post it when I find it.

which leads to

Which does not work on the Tab Though I'm pretty sure the one that worked on 2.2 was also a modified Galaxy S supplicant file.
Actually, I take it back, after updating to Jupiter now it just restarts when I try to use the supplicant I was using before.
So back to square one.
Hi Forum,
I cannot get my Sprint tab to see my phone after installing Gingerbread. My computer can see the phone and connect it, but the tab won't. Before Gingerbread, I was able to scan and connect to my phone and tether just fine. I tried diff. wifi tethering app. Currently use Barnacle. My tab is not rooted, but that should not be a problem.

Click to collapse
I'd have to say, untie your WIFE.. and then worry about wifi..
thanks!
I was in a hurry! Fixing the wife issue is going to be a lots more difficult.
my galaxy tab brick after falsh
which version of GB do you have installed? Is it the stock sprint update? Have you tried the WPA supplicant fix for it yet?
I using Sprint OTA Gingerbread, 2.3.4. Build number EF17. I have not tried the WPA supplicant fix. I did not have problem with this issue on Froyo. I will research on this. I would like some tips if you got them. Thank you !
I found a link on the issue, but require root. I am reluctant to take this step. It is not that I don't know how to use Odin, but removing root is a pain.
Here is the link to WPA supplicant if any interested.

from everything i've read, you won't be able to connect to ad-hoc mode wireless (most wifi tether apps) without the wpa supplicant patch. you might look into a wifi tether app that will do infrastructure mode to get that working again.
@ pvtjoker42,
Thank you for the tip. I did some further research and the Wifi Tether app works in infrastructure mode too. If any one interested, here is how you do it. Choose device profile- I chose Samsung Galaxy S. I also tested Samsung Galaxy Indulge. Under Setup-Method, choose Softap ( master). Now your Samsung Tab will see the phone. This app drains battery like no tomorrow, much more than Barnacle.
I noticed that after I updated my i9000m from froyo to gingerbread the Mobile AP settings page seemed to have change, so i was currious if the way it tethers chaged as well to the standard android ad-hoc structured network.
reason i ask is because i have an hp touchpad and noticed that it can not recognize my wireless hotspot and reading up on the reasons of why that might happen is because the hp touchpad doesn't support ad-hoc networks.
correct me if i'm wrong but in froyo the stock Mobile AP wasn't a ad-hoc network structure.
anyone else with a touchpad manage to get it to tether with with their i9000
