[Q] Im getting a Sprint Galaxy Tab. Need help in direction!!! - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I just got a sprint galaxy tab and confused on what i should do next. Im confused on the correct way to root a sprint cdma tab and then what i should do next after i root it. can any one point me in the right direction and suggest what i should do with my tab to get the most out of it?
Thanks!!

You can use the superoneclick (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682) to get root on stock, or you can grab one of the rooted kernels. personally so far i've found rooted stock to be one of the best ways to use the tab until they release the official gingerbread update (at least I hope this is coming officially)

Like above, superoneclick is how you can root.
Depending on what you want out of your device will/should dictate your mods.. personally I love the Spacemoose1 Honeycomb Alpha 2.5 build on my device. If you're curious on how I went about that, click the link in my signature, or find my thread in this Q&A section, and read up :]

[Sprint] Searching for any Galaxy Tab Firmware

I'm the happy owner of a new Galaxy Tab on Sprint. Searching these forums and Samfirmwares, I cannot find a firmware package for Sprint (CDMA).
Anyone know why this is? I think Verizon folks are in the same boat.
Reason I ask is that I want to start deoxexing the device for theming and other stuffs, but I always want an Odin-based flash to get me back to stock when/if I dork something up.
In the same boat here can't find the sprint firmware

Might be nice if the mods listened and made a Sprint section.

Or we could just use the Sprint thread.

Galaxy tab noob

I'm fairly new to the galaxy tab and i'm unsure how to change the rom to cm7 my galaxy tab is a bell one P1000M its un rooted its stock for now so where do i start?
Root with Z4root but don't attempt to get CM7. Its a beta and you need to know how to use Heimdall to flash it.
Sent from inside a whale.
any guide i should look at for using it?

Yes there is plenty of guides.
All roms come with introductions on how to install aswell as guides in teh sticky topics of teh forums.
Before you attempt to do anything to your device sit down and do some research otherwise you will be back here creating a "help I bricked my device urgent help" topic clone of the million others here.

You could read the OP in the CM7 development thread. Especially the part about how incomplete & unstable it is.
Either leave it alone, or flash Overcome instead for now, CM7 is several weeks away from being any use as a daily system.
I have been following the CM7 threads, seems like there is still some work to do to get it working on the tab.
I flashed overcome 1.4.4 and its very very nice. fast and smooth.

[Q] Confused about updating to Gingerbread

I'm in the USA with an AT&T version of the Tab. Am I able to upgrade to Gingerbread manually? If yes, can someone point me in the right direction to the best/easiest way to upgrade? FYI: I don't have any custom ROMs installed and have never really hacked my Tab beyond installing a new launcher.

Go here. The attachment in the first post will walk you through the process. Read it 3 times over before you do anything just to make sure you know what you are doing. Other than that, it's pretty easy and worth the upgrade.
And if slimdizzy's thread don't float yer boat then try this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1078622
Its a thread that takes you by the hand and holds it for every step (thankyou Jacktackle)... It"s a good guide if you were like me and a TOTAL noob at flashing the GT...
Cheers...
You may need the modem.bin file for your brand of GT. That can be found in the link slimdizzy gave you. Just read through the modems, you'll find the right one...

New with Tab

Hi, I am new with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7'' 3G+Wifi, with 2.3.3. What do you recommend to me: keep this one, Overcome, or Honeycomb alpha. Please, anyone knows what is the different between CDMA and GSM ROMs? Thanks!

welcome to the hood brother in tab ..
your 1st welcome will be . pls post any thread endup with "?" "Q" in the Q|A section and do not post anything in the DEV section only if you plan to create ROM , Kernel
Welcome aboard.
Also state what carrier you have.
GSM is ATT TMOUS
Sprint, Veriz , Boost are CDMA
I love the Overcome rom, works well for what I want.
Thanks for the answers. My carrier is Orange, from Spain, but I don't know if it helps. I would like to flash Overcome but I don't know how begin. I have experience with Nexus One and Hero, but this seems very different.
Overcome is pretty stable compared to honeycomb. Try it first!

GSM phones use sim cards, CDMA need to be activated on the network and can't be transferred to another carrier easily if at all.
Don't know much about the CDMA as Australia got rid of CDMA a few years ago now...
GSM tabs have a larger choice of roms and kernals to try while the CDMA brothers and sister seem fairly restricted in what they can flash. They, however seem to be ahead when it comes to flashing Honeycomb...
ATM Honeycomb is an Alpha buiild, VERY buggy and not really usable if you need your tab in real life, Gingerbread on the other hand has been fairly stable for a while now. Up to you what you want to put on but before you do, READ the instructions on using ODIN or Heimdall, there are guides here.
Check if you're bootloaders are locked here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 Before flashing
and make sure you take it slow, step by step and DON'T skip ahead when flashing.
Happy hunting for that perfect rom ( please don't ask what people think as Its really a personal choice and the threads have more than enough info for you to make a choice).
Cheers...

[Q] MIUI and Moto Droid

I am thinking about putting MIUI on my friends Droid 1 on verizon, and I would need to do it tomorrow. I have a gs2 and had a captivate so i'm used to the way it all works on the samsung devices but not on the Motorola ones.
So i guess i had a few quick questions,
Does Miui work well on the droid, it appears to with the forums?
to install it it appears i just use rom manager with root is this correct?
Do i need to get root and install clockwork? or does this not need clockwork?
and are there any unbrick methods like odin for samsung?
I know i really should be searching and I'm starting my search when i finish this post but if anyone is feeling generous and knows the links to the forums or answers to any of the questions above or just advice i'd appreciate it.
