Anyone experiencing light leaking around the "back" and "search" buttons of the Incredible S?
I got my Incredible S replaced a few times and it still had light leakage out of the box.

Apparently it's a batch-wide issue but I was wondering if others have this issue as well.

I figured this was just how the lights look on the device - did you really manage to get it replaced just from that?

I brought the device back to the Bell Store and told him about the issue. He said it's due to the double layer of LCD lighting and it's pretty much how it's made.
I didn't believe him so he opened a brand new one from his inventory and out of the box, it still had the light leakage.
Edit: So no, I didn't get mine replaced because of that.
anyone else notice the plastic piece around the metal charging port is loose, every inc2/S i've seen has it..DRIVES ME NUTS!!
Mine has light leakage on it, Bell model. Bought it from a guy on Craigslist and its been past the 14 days since they purchased it (3 weeks since they got it, 2 since i've had it).
I knew it was like this prior to buying the Incredible S so i just forgot about it.
And the USB Charging port SURROUND, NOT the port itself is slightly jiggly. Port itself is secure.

yea this is exactly what I mean. the plastic surrounding. every inc2/s ive seen has it. its like a toy.
I must be lucky, no light leakage on mine.
On my first IS, the USB port metal was loose, I replaced it for a new one and this one has light leakage. So it looks like al batches has their own problems ..

Same here, only the search button is abit dull.
My plastic usb thingy was also abit loose, used sometape inside the case, did the trick.
I can't confirm the light leaking!
Well if I tilt my device I can see different intensity of light coming out of the fancy button thingy, and i think this is normal, since almost all IS that i see always like that.
For loose USB case (not the port) just get a blutacks, it will fix it. (and probably squeaky backdoor after a while)
Thanks guys.
If it's a known issue, I'm not too worried about it.
Mines got that light leakage, but only if it's really dark.
I have the same problem. I think for that purpose in Sensation they are use normal buttons, not rottating one.

I got my X1 silver back from repair yesterday. I noticed that I have a rattle inside the phone and it sound like it comes from the top area.
I did not have this rattle prior to any of the repairs.
YES, I've had it repaired for crack in the batterycompartment near volume buttons twice!!!
I went back to the repairshop and they said, after disassembling it that it's the camera that rattles and there's nothing they can do about it.
They thought that it might be this way because of the new part.
I asked if they could cushion the camera in anyway so it doesn't rattle, but no..
My question is:
Did your phone rattle after you got it back from the repairshop?
Download a sample of how the rattle sounds when I very gently tap the top part of the phone to my mousepad.
my phone has rattle even with no cracks ;/

I showed a X1 agent how my X1 sounds after repair and before he had heard the rattle he also claimed it was the wheels, but after he said "That sound is not the wheels". He told me to contact the repairshop and the guy at the repairshop said he would get back to me after speaking with the X1 agent.
It's the auto-focus mechanism of the camera. All Xperias make this sound.

the results so far are quite disturbing
i started getting the rattling sound even though im quite careful with the damn thing.
the x1 looks and feels better than other htc devices but in reality it isnt

In my particular case it's not the autofocus that rattles.
The X1 agent said that it isn't supposed to make that sound that mine does.
Does your rattle sound anything like mine?
It's a very tinny high-pitched rattling, the type made by something very small. It also isn't very loud, I have to listen carefully and do it with my right hand. If I use my left, my watch rattles more loudly.

yes! received my phone back earlier in the week. had the vibration repaired. seem to acquired a weird rattling sound!
No noise if I shake my X1.
It's 2008 Week 42...I love it!
It's not very old though. Got it since February..
After having taken my xperia completely apart numerous times, and replacing the housing once, I have to say that it should be entirely fixable. Admittedly it took a while to find though.
The xperia housing is very poorly designed, especially the right side, I have learned after my disasselbies
I broke my digitizer and LCD display and bought the replacements via ebay. Both were "OEM" or whatever.
I replaced them, and the digitizer seems to have worse multitouch than before. I understand that it sucks, but my 2 points never used to get confused when they crossed axis, (or so I dont remember them getting confused).
But also, my LCD seems to have a pink hue to it. I definitely know mine did not have this before the break. I read over a lot of posts here and elsewhere about the pink hue problem. This doesn't appear to be a browser problem, but an actual hardware issue.
Should I return the LCD and get a replacement and hope that the other one I get will be regular, or are my odds slim to none. My previous one was NOT pink whatsoever. And this new one I noticed it right off the bat.
N1 screen isnt LCD... did you get an LCD or an AMOLED?
Well it's LCD with LED backlight. I believe the company I got it from off Ebay got the OEM product directly from Samsung.
It is the same as the one I had before. The part number on the display is the same as the one on my original cracked one, 60h00287-00p

So the colours are a lot more bland and the black isn't really black? You would most definitely know if you got an LCD, it would look ugly compared to what you had.

Are you SURE its an LCD? as andrew said, the nexus only has an AMOLED screen which is a completely different technology
if it is indeed an amoled, then you may have gotten an ATT nexus amoled which is known to have a purple/pink hue
Well what I'm saying is the p/n written on both displays are the same, both from samsung. Which means, yes, it is a AMOLED display.
I don't think it's a case of an "at&t" display being sent to me. My nexus one was for at&t, and I didn't have such pink issue. But this new display does.

well china sells a lot of fakes and they can match up stuff like that.....
and not all nexus display this kind of saturation. Do you have a picture so we can see the extent of the hue?
it doesn't show up much in pics.
but I think it's beginning to fade. I've been leaving the display up with a red color. and alternating through white and black.
Here's a pic I took. But again, it doesn't show up much in it.

nah its noticeable on the keyboard and borders. use if for a while and see if the screen conditions itself. that is the same hue i believe that some att users were mentioning
It's worse to the eye than in the photo though.
I'll see if it fixes itself.
hopefully it just needs to be broken in
At 100% brightness, the pink tink is barely noticeable.
Actually, anything above 50% brightness and it seems fine. It's when it gets lower than that, it starts to look pink

Yeah, now all I need is a chat roulette app and some tissues...
But seriously if I had wanted a front camera that bad I would have got a phone with one.. Seems like a risky proposition especially when a hardware mod will devalue phone tremendously even if done well.

Concerning just the physical constrains, comparing the tear down pictures of the Vibrant and the Captivate, it looks like the Vibrant has the advantage of having the molding for the FFC already there. It looks like there's no place next to the regular camera to place the FFC in the Captivate. It would be pretty cool it get this working though.
Yep, it looks like they placed the headphone jack and some plastic housing in the exact spot the FFC would go. Unless there's some tiny space between the housing and the digitizer glass I'm not seeing, you'd have to carve through the plastic housing to make room. No thanks.
wont happen without some major mod
Okay well we have been down this road many a times in this forum(myself included). And i am going to include a picture of a torn down captivate. The problem lies in the fact that the hold for the FFC is right under the mount for the main camera, where in the vibrant and i9000 they are two separate slots. It would also seem from the pictures that the boards that are controlling the camera are flipped from the i9000 and the captivate. So what we would have to do is flip the board, re-wire the circuit board under the camera from the i9000 so it dropped straight down and then maybe it would work. Here is a picture of the captivate.

If any of you have seen the PSP camera, here is an alternate idea:
Using a mini-usb (i think) to microusb adapter, hook up the PSP camera to the top of the captivate, and write a driver

OK, so i finally did it. It can be done, but you have to make sure you don't cover the earpiece.
But, i find this to bulky for my pocket, so I am working on a telescoping rod with a mirror as an alternative. Will post soon.

Today, I saw this under the touchscreen. It looks like some dust or air bubbles, which are under the touch area, situated directly above the Tegra 3 CPU so can it have something to do with the heat, which come from the cpu? The phone is 1 month old (bought 21/3/2013). I'm sending the phone to reclamation (and want new piece), but I'm afraid that this can happen again.
Have anyone same problem?

The top plate of the speaker is put on so clumsy... there is a bum in the middle of the white field and the right part behind the front plate is sharp and has a gap...
The phone is rocking when put face down... seen on the pic... If I force bend it the other way its ok for a hour and then back to this... (This is probably the most wtf thing since this is my most expensive phone and has this defect)
What do you think?
Overall its a great phone cant say that... just the quality is not impressive as it was said...

I only see 2 options:
1- That phone wasn't new when you bought it, even if it was in a sealed box. Pretty easy to seal a box and make it looks like it never had been opened.
2- You have damaged the phone yourself. (I do not think this is the case)
What I know is that it does not look like a new htc one at all. Maybe you got scammed??
