Hi all,
First the quick question - MN comes preinstalled with Zeam Launcher. In the market there's a newer version. Can I install the market version or will that screw up the one that came preinstalled?
Now onto Flash. I first rooted with MN 4.5.18, which I think came with Flash 10.1. There were many posts warning not to run the market update to 10.3 because it'll cause a boot loop. I then updated to MN 4.5.25. After that I used Titanium backup to remove Flash 10.1, then I installed 10.3 from the Market. All went well.
Well, now there's an update of Flash 10.3 in the Market. Since I had done a fresh install of 10.3 from the market, is it safe to run the update from the Market or should I use Titanium to uninstall then do a fresh install of the latest Flash from the Market?
I just don't wan to get into a boot loop and have to redo everything.
Thanks!
-Gary

Hello All,
I used to be on RoDrIgUeZsTyLe MUIU rom and bunch of other custom roms. Every rom has its ones pros and cons but were not very stable. So, I thought I will go back to stock. So, I flash stock rom and stock recovery and received OTA update and installed the updates. Now my phone is on the below version.
Android Version 2.2.1
Build Number - FRG83D
Market Version - 2.12
Baseband Version - 32.26.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
I was able to successfully download and install many apps but whenever I try to download YouTube I always get "Installation of Youtube unsuccessfull" message. Also, I researched and saw that some people in Europe on Vodafone rom are having this issue. How do I know if my android version is totally stock?
Do you guys have any ideas on how I can successfully install this app without having to root my phone again? I would like to stay stock and unrooted if possible.
Thanks.
use titanium or manually uninstall the current youtube app, reboot then try to install again. Its because its a system app currently. youll probably have to do the same for car home, street view and a few others
I am un rooted, so I won't be able to use titanium. how do I uninstall manually though? I didn't have any issues installing other apps like street view etc.
Make sure the app is installed on your phone, and unmount the SD before updating...

I tried un mounting SD card and installing and still that didn't work. Thanks for trying to help though.
Try uninstalling the old version of YouTube first.

....if you do not have root access how were you flashing an miui rom?
I was getting the exact same thing as you were, all you need to do is remove the old youtube app
good luck
Thanks for the responses. Like I said in my post I was rooted before but un rooted and went to complete stock 2.2.1. I know uninstalling youtube would resolve this issue but I am trying to find a way to uninstall the app without being rooted.

dear developers,
I am eager to try the new 2.2.7 market apps. I tried to upgrade via applanet, but fail to instal, I tried update.zip and after I flashed it, the market apps is not there too. I tried numbers of APK but none were able to be installed!
I've tried uninstalling my market apps and market updater and it still won't install. So now I'm stuck without any market in my phone.
Any help? or a 100% GUIDE to install the new market?
thanks before
I had the same issue. I had even backed up the old market before I removed it but it didn't seem to work. The easiest fix in my opinion is this: Install titanium backup, backup everything you wanna save, wipe, reflash rom, flash gapps with old market, reboot, sign in, open market, accept terms, reboot into recovery, flash gapps with new market, reboot, optionally restore anything you want to restore via titanium backup. I'm not sure what changes in 2.2.7, but 2.2.6 is lovely, I love the new UI. I had force closes if I tried to install that market before installing the old version and rebooting/accepting license terms as I stated above, but this method took care of all the force closes. Also, you might find this interesting if you haven't already seen it yourself. Applanet forums stated that they intend to model applanet after the new market as well.
Also, just as a heads up, you're not likely to get a lot of support here for anything that could potentially be related to applanet because of the nature of the program.
I rooted my nook using MN 4.5.6 after I updated to 1.2
My device failed to reboot after I updated the flash player to 10.3, I suggest that no one does that.
Flash only works with built-in browser, for example if you install Dolphin browser it won't work on it.
I'm unable to update the market app like i have done in the past, thus the problem with tilting the device sideways to load more apps still remains.
Anyone has a solution to any of these issues?
bump bump bump
I wish I could be of some help, but at least I can reply as to whether I'm having the same issue.
My (well it's technically my wife's) NC came with 1.1
I updated that to 1.2 from the barnes & noble site, then rooted it with the latest manual nooter (4.5.18 I think.)
I did not update flash however, and flash works just fine in Dolphin HD.
The easiest thing to do would probably be to just flash to stock and then re-root it. You'll end up losing stuff, but it's probably the most sure-fire way to get back to a working state.
Edit: I have no idea what can be done about the market issue. I'm having that as well and it's kinda irritating.
After the original 1.3 update broke the root, I re-flashed 4.6.16 and all was well, I downloaded & installed from market and everything was just fine....until recently.
I am still using my 3 installed apps without issue (overdrive, kobo & kindle), but I am unable to download new apps or updates. The download seems to happen, but I get an "!" in the notification area telling me that the app/update was not downloaded.
Last night, I used settings to clear market data, I uninstalled the market update (rolled from 3.0.27 back to 2.3.*) and re-booted, and still no luck. Then I tried a full restore from Titanium backup of all settings/app data from when it was successfully re-rooted with market working, re-booted and still nothing.
Could I flash 4.5.25 over what I have? Then re-flash 4.6.16, would that fix things? Does anyone else have this problem?
I searched the threads but no one else seems to have lost all market functionality.
Any help is greatly appreciated - I need to update some apps and I would like to add some more. Now it's just a reader and....a reader. I would hate to wipe it and set it up all over again.
Thanks!
I Gave Up....
....Restored 1.2, Flashed 4.6.16 and market is back and operational. I deleted the pre-installed flash 10.* using TB, then downloaded flash 11 from the market.
I then changed "auto" to "manual" to block the ota 1.3 update which I assume is inevitable. I followed the instructions found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946969
All seems well -- but that last thread is kind of old, I am hopeful nonetheless.
Does anyone know if my problems are solved? I did not reboot for fear of the boot loop.
I don't care about whatever B&N 1.3 does, 1.2 with full market is much happier for me.
Hello everyone
I ve installed manually Samsung browser version 5.0 over my old version but it doesn't run correctly with errors, unexpected closes etc.. Now I want to go back to the right version but I cannot either uninstall it or install the previous one over the new one as it's a system app. I'm not rooted.. Is there a way I can do it or any 5 version that works correctly to anyone to install it?

I don't think version 5 worked for me either.
If you installed it then it should have installed as a user app. You should be able to uninstall it via app manager using the 'uninstall updates' button and revert to the default (system) version.
Have you tried clearing cache and data for the browser app first?
You can always install the play store version.
