I think people are still trying to get app2ext working on Eclair, so it's a work in progress.
I don't even think they made Cyanogen for Eclair on Milestone, as far as I know the earliest version is for Froyo (CM6).

Also, this is the development area, not the Questions and Answers area.
Just sayin..

I think everything you require needs froyo or more. Not certain about the 1% battery tweak or the partition of ext4. I would update to GOT 2.2.1 leak and root and then apply a gingerbread rom (I would go with CM7) or I would go with CM6 for froyo (not in development anymore though, but significantly faster)
Froyo = 2.2
Gingerbread = 2.3 (latest is 2.3.4 which is included in cyanogen mod 7 i think)
Remember to nandroid backup before installing any roms! (and only milestone roms work with milestone, do not try droid roms)

i would like to use 2.1 as it works faster on my milestone....

[Q] best firmware (rom) for SGS ?

hey all member i dont know if there already exists this thread, but what do you think is the best firmware for the galaxy s ?
(ps:sry im new to anroid ^^)
Flash the latest firmware 2.2 - JP6
If I were you, I would directly flash a ROM with integrated lagfix.
There is DocRambone with his ROM,
there is Tayutama,
there are several other ROMs.
Or you try mine, so you don't have to apply different steps to get a fast Galaxy S
thx @ darkyy
yeah the most important thing for me is [....] speed ^^
my sgs is sooo [....] slow xD
is there a difference between
tayutama , docrambone, and yours?
MOD EDIT: Offensive language removed
vanilla rom is nice
Shouldn't this be in Q&A?

Jpm/jp6 firmware.
Then it up to you and your skills.
I would start with z4mod on stock firmware and convert filsystem to ext2 with z4mod.
In the process you learn to flash.and what things are.
You phone will be fast and lagfree.
Then you can look for other kernel that's out here if there things you like.
You can also do what other say here and flash a Rom.
But you will not have the same control over the system.
If you want to change Rom you also need to start all over and install all apps again.
You don't need that with z4mod.
But z4mod and many roms are very good and solve the lag for you.
Sent from GT-I9000 Jpm OS kernel with z4mod
i didnt find a "good rom" either this time so using "stock android lock screen file" and "battery mod version d" and "universal lag fix kernel" (BLN on, ext4 or jfs, some tweaks on)
also using fancy widget and a blackground and launcher pro plus
i'm quite happy with it at the moment - i deleted some samsung apk from /system to make space too, else u can't make the mods

You should have posted this in General Forum, not here.
Anyway, what do you mean by modify? If you are referring to the notification bar widgets and like, its no easy task my friend. Involves a lot of work.
y u don't use one of the custom mods, i use CM6 myself and it is imo the most stable rom out there,
if u just want to tweak ur stock rom i would recommend staying at 2.1. and tweak it a little with an OR, replacing and removing apps, overclocking etc.
afaik it does a little better wit multitasking, i would use it myself if it wouldn't miss so much features from CM...
hehehe a CM5 for milestone would be funny lol
if u are just looking for a guide
-factory reset
-flash 2.2.1 GOT release
-run OpenRecovery
-install CM update
-wipe cache and dalvik
or read this thread

[Q] How to switch from a rom using cm6 to cm7?

Hi all, I recently took the plunge into the world of custom roms and its awesome, so much better then stock
I have flashed my x8 with the Froyo 2.2.1/Cyanogenmod 6.1.3 rom by ponanovn and he has just released a new rom Gingerbread 2.3.5/Cyanogenmod 7.1-Pre using cm7, When I first installed the orginal Froyo 2.2.1 I used x recovery and simply renamed the file to update.zip and simply flashed it and it worked however on his page he doesnt say rename the file to "update, zip" anymore and he says make a back up in "cwm recovery" instead of xrecovery is it neccesary to use cwm recovery with cm7? im just a bit confused if anyone could help me I would be gratefull Thanks
Too complicated! Download and install GingerDX instead. It's a FULLY working Gingerbread 2.3.5!

Thanks I was having a look at it before and it seemed pretty good, might just make the change to GingerDX, are you using it? if so are there any bugs etc? cheers
Yes, I'm using v005. SO SMOOTH!!! And 3MP camera!! I have no bugs at all. If you have bugs, make a full wipe.
I can recommend GingerDX as well, it is updated on a regular basis, and doixanh is one of the best ROM developers for X8 currently, he just seems to be able to pull things off that noone expected, like the 3mp camera fix for instance!
I agree, GingerDX is the most complete 2.3 Rom. There is updates nearly every day and each update will preserve your data, no major bugs and if there is DX will sort it.
Thanks for the help
I would suggest GingerDX.
But you can try to use multiboot if you have a class 6 or more sd card instead of changing a ROM.

[Q] Stable Froyo Version For SE Xperia X8 E15i

Okay , it's been hours , and I found nothing fruitful.
I just want a stable ROM on my X8 , and get rid of my Eclair.
I want Froyo , not gingerbread.
My device is rooted , Got backups with Xrecovery. I have Stock kernal
Firstly , Gingerdx v021 had a buggy messaging application , and I removed it.
Froyobread resulted into a boot loop on my device (Recovered now using PCC)
And , I'm not able to find a clean version of Floyo 1.0 . I downloaded from two sources , and got different errors. (once a missing file , and second time a MD5 error).
Is there any genuine file for Floyo 1.0 , which is 100%working, if you suggest that ? Or is there anything much better ? Download links for those will be appreciated.
I dont wish to change my kernal , and want a very stable/smooth ROM , and highly preferable choice is froyo , since it would be more stable.
Somebody Please Help !!
Well . I'm using Minicm6 , which is 2.2.1 froyo, and I like it very much. Very responsive touchscreen, nice performance, good battery life, and... STABILITY! I've never experienced force close with this rom.

Can I install Froyopro 1.1 via Xrecovery ? Or do I necessarily need clockworkmmod recovery ?
Any known bugs (except auto-brightness) which you faced ?

[Q] A Couple Rom Questions....THANK YOU!!!

Hello there, a couple of questions, I am at the moment running ginger dx, but Im not really a fan of CyanogenMod, So dont really want to use CM9/7/6 which pretty much narrows down the selection of roms
I have the Eclair (I think) Rom that came with the phone stored on computer (2.1.1.C.0.0) which I find very good, and completely lag free in every way (unlike the cyanogenmod ones sometimes)
I want just to know a couple of things.....is the C.0.0 the latest original rom from sony ericsson? did they bring a froyo rom out?
is there any complete stock (based on c.0.0 or later) custom roms???
I like to partition memory card so i can get a extra gig to store games etc, does link2sd or similar work on such a early rom???
I await your replys
-GARY
Yep... 2.1.1.C.0.0 is the latest.
You can try...
Beagle ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1562511
X-Rom v3 and X-Clean v1 http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431231
They are based on 2.1.1.C.0.0. Partition works (ext2, IDK about ext3 and ext4 but try the X8 Toolbox ext4). IDK if SWAP partition works... Link2SD also works (I even using it on CM7 roms because mounting SD to PC is SLOW... )
I haven't tried those yet because some of my apps are for GBs.
hi
yes 2.1.1.C.0.0 its the lastest,no froyo or gongerbread oficial for our x8´s
there is a rom based on stock here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1633046 by 2010matej and yes link to sd works in eclair bro

Oh... I didn't knew Matej has new ROM already
Thanks for the info.
As stated above I would use one of Matej's Stock;Based ROMs.
Personally, I don't like the Stock ROM because of the Sony skin on it . Of course when I used the Stock ROM I didn't know about A-Cheps themes for it
Sent from my Xperia™ PLAY using TapatalkHD
Thanks to you all gonna flash one of those
I think I will actually try out the froyo roms, eclair, very stable, is missing a lot of options I use daily
I was using miniCm7 2.2.0 and it was completely lag free you can try it for yourself
and it is stable too
