Hello,
Sorry if this is a stupid question
but i currently have a n1 running stock 2.2 with build 2.16.405.1 CL223103 release-keys.
I d like to know if its possible to root this build, as the rooter "superboot" that i found was only for EF and FR builds, i have a CL build
Thanks in advance
Ramu
Please read my signature, look at "Root" section, and use any guide that you find there - all will work. Just using SuperOneClick would be the easiest.

Jack, Many thx 4 the reply!
but if i look at ur signture, i only see ways to mod things on an alrdy rooted phone apart from the nexus one wiki
If its not 2 inconvinient, can u paste in the super1click link which allows me 2 root 4 my build
thanks n sorry 4 the disturbance again
Why is this urgent?
Nexus One Wiki is the link you're looking for. If I'm sending people to my signature without additional references, obviously I'm sending them to the Wiki. The text of the signature should emphasize it.
Plus, it's really not urgent by any means.

Hi and welcome to xda!
First thing's first: Are you rooted yet? You will be limited in what you can do until you root.
Here is a step by step guide to rooting 2.1.
Here is the board with all of the Hero ROM's.
It may appear daunting at first, but it's fairly straight-forward and easy to do. Just follow the directions exactly. Also, I believe there is a one-click root app around here somewhere called Androot, I believe, but I'm not sure how well it works, as I didn't use it to root. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thread reported, not development, and this question is explained in great detail.
There are at least three drop-dead easy root methods for Galaxy S.
While I'm at it:
CF Root (flash with Odin, provides easy root)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
z4 Root (just install app, very easy, works on almost all ROMs)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
SuperOneClick (run app on PC, pretty easy, works with all ROMS AFAIK)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Edit: just a reminder to use search next time and read stickies

Very well said. I might just quote you on this and paste your response on the next 300 "how to root" questions that will come in here at the Q&A section

Oooooo.. feature idea. Have the system auto post this to new threads posing this question in the opening post. And then send the thread to the trash bin.
To be fair to the OP, he's also asking about the recovery signing issue (3e). Personally, I run a custom ROM that includes a kernel which has fixed the recovery issue already resolved. You can do the same or flash virtually any of the kernels found in the dev section. For example, check out the SpeedMod kernel.

If I am not mistaken, CF root should take care of that. But I haven't used it in months so I could be wrong.

yes do what donjaun said with search, but since you're new to android you're probably new here too
Rooting is hmmhow can i explain it - having "all" access to your phone? Sort of like jailbreaking for iproducts, but better.
Yes there is a way to manually do it, but you'll need root(go learn how to root your phone by searching) Then you'll be able to flash many roms(roms are like different themes/mods. you can even flash offical releases)
hello people who are new to their xperia x8's. i am not sure if this is in the stickies sections or not but this is not a Q. this guide will tell you a lot more about your x8 and what it can do than meets the eye!
now firstly
the important stuff for software:your xperia x8 now should be running update 2.1 update 1. if not click that. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941458
All better now?good we can proceed...
If you want to upgrade your baseband click that... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976538
has it worked.if so we will go on...
one last thing to check have you rooted your device.if not click this:
next we will go on to mods and roms.everyone loves a good proper rom, dont they?
you need to install xrecovery to install a custom rom.if you havnt downloaded click that: http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...ini-0.1-beta&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13149905465481
cool lets get on.how to use xrecovery:
open file on pc then copy and paste the 3 items you should find onto your phones sd card.once you have done that unplug your phone and go into root explorer.remount from r/o to r/w and go into sd card and copy and paste the 3 files into you system/bin and go to permissions for xrecovery.tar and tick all of them.then come out of root explorer and reboot your phone.then when the first se logo comes up press the back button rapidly and a lot and then you should go into xrecovery.
i will make part 2 for this since i have to go for the mo but for the mo this should be helpfull along with the links
P.s iv put a link to download superoneclick

Your help is appreciated but the way you are explaining isn't really good for new comers.. Or for anyone..
It's like you are writing notes on a fridge sticker you need to give proper details and step by step explanations. Also, very important, you need to proper format your thread.. Use bold, italic, underline.. quote.. you didn't even capitalize the proper words
There are already sticked threads with help. Sure they could be better but not like this.

There are different methods, some more simple, what version you have?
if you mean andriod version... I have 2.2.2
Look for UPK 3.6 and from there you can root with Blackjack.
After the root process you won`t lose anything but the warranty.
Okay, will do. Thanks heaps!
rooting your phone is dangerous but once you have done it, you will get a chance to try different roms. In short, Its fun!!!

To the OP, always search for your question, it has no doubt been answered over and over again. Then, make sure you post your question in Q&A, not here in General.
