I keep having problems with File Manager HD, and it has pissed me off pretty bad this time. I was working with my SD card, and had copied the entire contents to my internal memory. I played around with it on my PC, then popped it back into my Xoom. Used it normally for a day. Downloaded files to it, copy and paste a few files, etc. At the end of the day I decided to copy my files back over. Did a multi select on my files, chose move, then paste in the external folder. The paste took about a half second. So I noticed my 6GB of files were replaced with the file names with 0.0k for the file sizes. I looked in the original location and they're gone. I shut down and booted to see no change. This isn't the first time it has done this, but definitely the first time moving a file over about 20k. Am I alone with these problems? I have never had that happen with Root Explorer or Androzip. Seems like some junky software to me.
You HAVE to copy and paste. You can't move files from one source to another. Otherwise the corruption happens.
I use Root Explorer and never have issues. Best money ever spent. That file manager is nice but I still prefer RE. Thanks for the heads up.

I would assume the devs have tries to be clever and copied the files then delete the original. I'm pretty sure the mv command would fail without data loss like that. Sounds like a poorly implemented file manager without the necessary failsafes for this sort of thing.

Are you sure it freezes? Mine just takes *ages* to finish that stage.
But yes, delete that folder and you'll be able to rebuild your library from scratch.

Delete the folder (that he said above) via file explorer. You can usually find the folder in the root of your storage card. Works everytime. G/L.
unable to find the hidden folder WMDRM, used the search program on my phone asnd still no luck . do i have to sync my tilt and delete it thru the cpu.
If you are using the standard file explorer, make sure that you have the "show all files" option switched on.
i wish it was that simple
yeah it is. win i pulled up winrar to un rar a file i saw it as a folder but i can't get to it. still haven't sync phone, @ wrk
If it 1 thing its another

after this it updating says it found 2087 files but only adds the file save to the phone not the memory card. doeas this sound familiar to any one
yeah use Total Commander or another "good" file explorer. & remove the "WMDRM" folder... it should be in the root folder of your SD card...
even then, if you have a TON of mp3's you may have to wait 5 minutes while it updates... I've had to reboot when it freezes & its hard to tell when its just taking forever & when its frozen :S
If that STILL doesn't work, try putting your files back on your desktop computer, then put your SD card in your computer, and re-transferring them that way.
Hope that helps

To add fof song, put them in "TapsOfFire/songs" folder on sdcard.
"Setting" & "Help" are not yet implemented, it's only 0.2 version but the dev (Dmitry.Skiba) promise new version soon.
Great game!!! I have a bit lag on the end of demo music, but in general works fine.
there is no "TapsOfFire" folder on the sdcard. Do I have to create one? Or is it in the apk file? Thanks alot.
Edit: nvm...i figured it out! lol. I just had to extract the files and make them folders

sorry..i shouldn't have said 'zip' folders. This goes for all people who had the same issue that I might have had.
I just got the song files from the internet and then put them on the root of my sdcard first. Then made the folder "TapsOfFire" on the root of my sdcard, opened it, made a "songs" folder in that. Then I took all the songs that I had downloaded, which were showing up as a "77" type file thing, and then put them into the "songs" folder within the "TapsOfFire" folder. Then I went, one by one, and double-clicked all the songs, which gave me the option to extract them. And they showed up as folders when they were extracted. So I just deleted the original "77" type file thing that they were in, and then vwala!
I opened up the Taps of Fire game, and the songs I had downloaded into the "songs" folder showed up.
Hope it helps out anyone who was having problems!
this is awesome!
Whats the best site to get songs for this?

I didn't feel like plugging my phone into the computer so I emailed myself an apk file (arctu's Mms.apk) because for some reason...it seems to revert back to stock every reboot...
Anyway, I didn't have any terminal apps so I used Root Explorer to copy then paste over the existing apk. didn't work. Why not? Is there a something different about copy/paste?
If you didn't say you mounted the partition I can only assume it was not mounted as r/w and still at r/o.
copy/paste - visual representation of cp
push - pushing files from computer to phone
They are not the same.

the mms app didn't overwrite. But it could have been user error. I'm using Enom's ROM and didn't have the Community Mms Mod checked...so maybe if I had done that first...it would have worked.
Pushing is taking a file from the computer to copy and paste/overwrite the existing file on the phone. What's the difference where the file is being copied over from? Are you sure about what you were trying to explain?

k?
I didn't try and explain anything (in this thread at least)?
Either way, yes push literally "pushes" a file to a specified location. However that file needs to be written and if the file system is mounted as read only you will get errors.
If it didn't work you must have received an error message (in root explorer for example), what was that message? If you don't get an error message and the file is still not being written then get a better file manager (ES File Explorer).
The suggestion above by 'evilkorn' was to make sure the file system is in read/write mode before you copy the file over... you can do this in Root Explorer or ES File Explorer.
If your file system is in r/w AND you still don't get an error message AND it still doesn't work then I would try an ADB push as a last resort and if that didn't work, reflash and start from step one I think...

Because that was your question in the title, which I answered, they are different terms for different things. You can't push a file on your phone to your phone, you copy it (cp).
You still didn't answer my question... It's hard to help someone when the suggestions fall on deaf ears and all you get is reverb and static back.

LoL. You gotta ask a question first before I can answer it. You made assumptions, didn't ask questions. LoL. Anyway, I wasn't trying to crawl under your skin. But maybe next time you can read the OP in addition to just reading the title of the thread? Usually, details are given to accompany the title of the thread on the first post. Either way, I guess I wasn't detailed enough. Thanks for your feedback, tho, appreciate it.
@djmcnz - Sorry, my error in quoting the wrong person. Thanks for you explanation, also.
So, to summarize...Push and Copy/Paste should produce the same outcome, right? Cool...like I said earlier...it was my error in not knowing that I had to use the Spare Parts option in Enom's ROM to enable Community MMS.
I use root explorer all the time when I can't use a computer to use adb. It works fine. Usually if its the system partition you have to click the icon that says r/o and it changes to r/w. This will allow you to write files to the partition. Then from what I noticed a reboot usually fixes any issues of stuff not working.
Hi everyone.
So today I was looking at my sd card through a file explorer and I've always seen a folder there called 'LOST.DIR' and it had always been empty until today.
So I was wondering what is that folder for??
and can I delete anything inside that folder? or will it screw up my phone in some way? I have about 11mb there that I could free if I erase that folder.
thanks in advance.
The Lost.dir is used for compatibility with the MacOS. LOST.DIR is a special folder that holds all the corrupted or orphaned files found during a file system check. File system checks are completed during the Android mount process.
thank you.

Aha ok. I think an app created the folder with the .nomedia file. The .nomedia file hides for example pictures in gallery app.

TapaTalked from my Xperia™ Z (C660²) running Dirty Unicorns ROM!
The .nomedia file that is usually created to hide media (audio/video) is a zero byte file. This OTOH, is an 80 byte file with some gibberish that appears to be encoded in various languages. Definitely a marker file from some malicious programme. Could be even towelroot!
Here's the text from the .nomedia file copied from es file explorer text editor:

Yes, But, Why, And Why Now...
Just got this folder with cryptic extension .eCtcQjbu1dgnvtFnvnr6yepTp1M= an hour ago, with its 1 KB .nomedia file (*), when I resumed my tablet on the PC USB (99% held ok for 9 hours),
BUT—Windows (7) also complained that the external sdcard (the location of said) needed to be scanned...which...was also all okay (after a lengthy scan time on 16 GB)...
I have the uptodate OfficeSuite 7 (com.mobisystems.office version 7.5.2129; USB storage in use by the PC), as well as the oem OfficeSuite (ver 1.5.290; enabled but never used)...
(N.B. Sometimes when I turn On the USB storage the estrongs file manager app will complain.)
Ray.

Did you ever figure this out for sure? I am curious what made you think it might be towelroot? I used that APK but it is not on my system anymore and I just had another strange directory appear with naming similar to the ones in this thread.
I do not have the office application or others mentioned in this thread so that rules those out.
I can tell you that the directory name is clearly Base64 encoded. It decodes to more characters but I don't know their meaning yet (looks like gibberish/random).
In the last month the directory has appeared twice on my internal storage and SD card in the root. Both times I deleted it along with the .nomedia file that was 80 bytes.
One other detail... I noticed most threads about this topic are related to Xperia phones but I happen to have a Samsung Galaxy S4.
Yup. I transfer files between my devices, and I had this folder on both of my nexus (Nexi?) N7 and N10! This Folder on. Dell 7 disappeared: after reflash using mykit_batch. Surprisingly, after formatting and reinstalling from flashtool, both XZ are clean now.... go figure!
Edit...
This is the nomedia text from my N10
クク誣コセル_}-橸2掛アモヌ」ナZtツマスユ
j"zルュツレc[k「絵4─Lユ"ヘ!殼6ネッ閭堕ワjIn*
Dead Cookies leave no trails...
Finally. I solved what caused these strange directories and files for me.
In my case it wasn't the transfer of files. It was a an app. Others had mentioned OfficeSuite caused it and I found out they were right, but I didn't have OfficeSuite which confused me.
I found out I had the Oxford English Dictionary which was from the same company as OfficeSuite.
Every time I started the app it would re-create the folder and .nomedia files.
My phone is rooted so I did a little more looking in to it and there is a file in the application's directory under /data/data/<appname>
So in my case it was:
/data/data/com.mobisystems.msdict.embedded.wireless.oxford.dictionaryofenglish.full/
Under that folder there is another folder called "files" which contains a strange file called ".mssnDatabase2". If you notice the file is 80 bytes in size. It happens to contain the exact same data as the .nomedia files that are created.
So that's how I figured out what was creating the strange folders for me. I hope that helps others.
BTW, the application (the dictionary) in my case appears to send the company quite a bit of info they don't need so I uninstalled it. You might want to check yours too.
I have this .eCtcQjbu1dgnvtFnvnr6yepTp1M= folder too with inside a .nomedia file
I dont know which app created it but i think it is office suite because i installed it and few others apk. However if i delete it after some time it come back.
Just to say
An OfficeSuite folder. A genius way to name it, whatever the dev was smoking.
