HTC IS is a GSM phone that uses a SIM card. Droid Incredible 2 is a CDMA/GSM phone for Verizon. It uses CDMA in USA and can take use a GSM SIM card outside of USA to access and roam on foreign carriers.

Gotcha. Thanks for the reply.

however what about the roms ?
can I use Inc2 roms in Incs ?

No because the radios are not compatible between the 2 and the ROM will have drivers for the Dinc2 radio, not the IncS radio, so you may get the phone to boot, but you won't be able to use it as a phone or get a celluar data connection.
I

Hmm that's good .
I just wanted to try them out i hope its not dangerous while flashing the rom .

Messing with the radio is one of the easiest ways to brick a HTC, so please consider yourself warned.

There's a reason why the devices that have CDMA and GSM counterparts have separate development forums here. - Evo3d, Flyer&View, Hero CDMA/GSM, Nexus CDMA/GSM, etc

What is this? The following is another new updated HTC RUU for the Holiday. This will be valuable if you're trying to restore your device from a soft-brick. I know nothing about this update other than the fact that it's Ice Cream Sandwich.

It's up to you. If you cannot use stock, then wait for the folks to split it open and make a base out of it for a custom ROM.
Looks like Bell Mobility's (BM) HTC Raider RUU, same version number as my stock Bell HTC Raider.
At any case, thank you so much for sharing, will save me some time if I want to restore to stock.

Correct, my HTC Raider is from ROGERS however I'm running the BELL RUU being S OFF. There is a well written account on here for how to gain S off, its worth it!
Confirm this is Bell,
Using it as a new base for Dark Raider.
Thanks Kenn
Is there heavy Bell branding on this rom?

Ics update question...

Do you have to be in a specific region if you have a phone from a different country to get the update? I have the hongkong version of the incredible s but I live in north America so will I get the Ics update? I'm still waiting for it.

I read this some days ago somewhere else but i dont know if its true but....it depends on your CID and IMEI number. It doesent matter where you are or what kind of SIM card you use. I guess every IncS all over the world is checking the same servers for OTA update.
Correct me if im wrong

i doubt it, unbranded phones , like just htc outright ones will get it from htc server, but like vodafone, optus, at&t etc.. will get it from their carriers who branded the phones.

I always rely on custom Rom from this site. Never for OTA...
From what I understood of the recent Vodafone ICS update for the Sensation XL, they tweak the install and then give it back to HTC for distribution. All updates are reputedly deployed from HTC servers and it is dependent on the IMEI as to which update you receive and when. This may all be utter bolllox but that's the way I understood it from the Vodafone info they gave out.
already we updated around the world bye nik

Update to ICS now - thanks Nikhil007
Hi Guys
Got sick of waiting so went ahead and installed Nik_Aura_Rebirth_sense4a on my Incredible S and let me just say its awesome! It runs the HTC One V rom so it has the cut down version of the full Sense 4 which i think is better than what HTC is going to give us with the update which will actually run 3.6!
Its fast and smooth and looks awesome! Why wait for the official update when you can get a better version now!!
Best of all is no bloatware from Optus!!!
I've made some how to's for anyone who is interested
How to unlock Inc S using HTCDev.com here > http://youtu.be/L8TZ_RKd3aE
How to install ClockWorkMod here > http://youtu.be/AqgjjCZU2UE

[Q] Will this version of the HTC One work with LTE/AWS on AT&T?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...1&smid=A1PXYMVYHSNUG8&tag=androidcentral00-20
I want this phone in black, but only the International Version (factory unlocked) is available. However... on the HTC website, the HTC One Unlocked has the correct AWS basebands. What gives? What basebands does this phone have?
Will it work with AT&T AWS? Thank you.

Some Q's

I was wondering if this was the HTC one international section of xda? And I also have the att version of the HTC one and was wondering if I could flash the international Roms/recoveries, with 0 problems. If so please tell me without being mean. I'm coming from an s4 and I'm just a little confused. Because I never had to flash roms from other carriers than att. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, you can use the twrp of the One (i advice the 2.6.3.3) and some roms are compatible, for example the ViperOne is compatible is the best rom (for me) on xda

Like I said thanks guys! I'm not new to rooting I'm just new to this whole att phone using foreign phone firmware! I just thought I'd ask before jumping right in! Thanks again

Using device for WiFi only

I'm using my device now as a paperweight for wifi . I switched phones and now this device has no carrier attached. does this mean I can flash any variant of a ROM or do I still have to stick with Sprint ? Thanks.
