When I run Netflix, it asks me if I want to update. If I answer OK, it cannot find the updated version. Netflix does not show up at all in the Market. I wonder if the edited build.prop causes this.
I just set up a NC for the wife, found the previous Netflix apk and loaded it, but did not modify the prop file...it works, but still gave the same "update" message (but no update apk). Anyone hear from Netflix on this?
I have a HTC Dinc today there was a update for netflix. So maybe just need to sideload the apk. I will try and find the the apk on my Dinc and try it if it works I will post it. I just tried the one from the one from Dinc it worked and took away the update crap. Now if someone can tell me how to add the apk to here I will post it.
I would appreciate the apk if you can post it.
Thanks

I tried this and it didn't work for me.
It'll say application not installed every time.
I just click cancel and it loads the app like normal.
As long as it works, I'm not complaining.

When you create a post, scroll down to Additional Options and there is a place to attach files.
I tried editing build.prop to change from Vision to Dinc, but the Market still couldn't find the Netscape app.
Duh, it's not Dinc but Droid Incredible (neither that nor Incredible worked either).
I cannot edit the build.prop file I keep getting an error message. It will not allow me to save the changes for netflix to work. Nook Color Cyanogen Mod7 nightly build 101

I installed that and Netscape said that the service is not available on my device.
I looked at the file and it changed the manufacturer line to HTC, but left the model as NookColor. Editing this line fixed it again, so it appears that the Nook Fixer app needs some more tweaking.
Too bad, as it requires many fewer steps than editing build.prop (I use Root Explorer, which allows me to mount the partition as rw).
I tried your fix and I still have the problem anymore suggestions anyone.
I figured that it was because CM7 updated to a newer gingerbread version in the nightlies and netflix isn't compatible, therefore not showing up for an incompatible device in the market

hmm what method did u use to install the nav? the one i used changed my build prop and build number maybe that was the reason perhaps i need to push back the old prop.....
I started with a fresh install of cyanogen 4.2.4 wiping my ext4 partition and starting new because of what I read about some programs crashing after editing the prop files.
Then I edited the build.prop line
ro.build.version.release=1.6 to
to
ro.build.version.release=2.0
Then edited build.trout.prop line (use build.sapphire.prop if using MyTouch)
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/kila/dream/trout:1.6/DRC83/14721:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
to
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.0/ESD20/17572:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
Then booted into the system and installed all my usual apps, haven't had any problems with apps crashing or NAV dissappearing at all
I also found the change needed to get the new YouTube app to work, in the build.prop file change
ro.build.version.sdk=4
to
ro.build.version.sdk=5
I found this in another thread, not my actual work that figured this out, doing another fresh install with cyanogenmod 4.2.5 with this edit also, I'll report back any adverse side effects of this change.
So to recap so far using Maps, Facebook & You Tube apps from the droid dump
****Edit****
After changing the sdk value I started getting fc's for the new facebook for everything, I couldn't even log in, changing the value back to 4 allowed me to log in and it was working normally but the new You Tube app disspaeared from the app drawer. It appears to me at this point I'll have to choose one or the other!!

I am also getting an install error.
I have tried to uninstall the existing 1.1.1 version using the Expsetup but still won't install.

I unistalled V1.1.1 but still cant install new version 1.1.2!!! went to aplication manager and found a file that says com.facebook.katana but doesnt let me do anything with it.
Any ideas?
If you're having problems uninstalling, that's because you used an update.zip and it is installed in the system/app folder. You have to use terminal or adb to mount the folder as rw to remove it.
My question, though, is it better than the one from droid? Cuz if not then I don't want to waste my time updating...

Most importantly would be to ask how do you get your system back to normal so you can install updates later.
I know at one time I messed with my prop file to install the Nav at one time. I wonder if that could be a problem. I removed the Facebook app, but it told me it wasn't compatable so I wonder if it that prop file is affecting anything.
Put the original build.trout.prop file back in the /system folder. Deleted the old Sholes/droid version via the market and it installed without a hitch.
It doesn't seem to like a modified prop file.
To me personally it looks just like the droids version except the white bar at the top is fixed.
Heres the line you want to change back.
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/kila/dream/trout:1.6/DRC83/14721:user/ota-rel-keys,release-keys
or upload this buid.trout.prop file to your /system folder. Just drop the .txt from the end.
EDIT.
After fighting a bit with the prop file I ended up just reflashing the rom that I originally installed which over wrote the modded prop file. Now I'm back to the orginal file and then I used the APK provided here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5147596&postcount=16
After that I uninstalled it via the market and reinstalled it now I'm back to where I should be.
So you could use that stock prop file, but after 5 or so tries it was sorta mixed results.

Good point. For cm6.1 beta2, just alter the build.prop as follows:
ro.product.cpu.abi=armeabi-v7a
ro.product.cpu.abi2=armeabi
and reboot.
This was not my fix, and I take no credit for it - it was in the big thread. I believe that the forthcoming beta 3 is going to have this change built-in.

I am having the same problem trying to install on full vanilla. In fact, my device will not even download the rar...it fails. I had to copy it from another device....so dumb question, i assume i just need to rename the file to apk, not unrar it?
Flash 10.1 fix
I used a RAR extractor on my windows machine then side loaded the APK into SD on system. I then used ES file explorer to find the file On the internal SD and when I opened it it gave me the option to install. Install went off without a hitch.
I have stock system with no ROM changes and I loaded launcher pro which I use instead onf TapNTap. I have now viewed many Utube video's as well as movie trailers with no problems.
Hope that helps

My apologies for not explaining more fully. I actually have the build.prop edit in place. I tried copying the flash apk to /system as well as /system/app. My problem is that I can't get it to install. Either I get an error, the program attempting the install crashes, or nothing happens.
By the way, you mention a beta 3 of CM. Any idea where I can find it? I did a quick 'net search but came up with nothing specific for the gtablet. Guess I need to plow through the megathread again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Could it be I need to fix flash prior to installing CM? I had to do that with the wifi hack before it would work. Guess I need to get another backup going just in case.
Edit (again): Never mind about Beta 3. I see in the megathread that it is in the works.
For the APK error, not sure about vanilla (never tried it). TnT Lite is 90% vanilla so I figured it should work on full stock.
I usually install with "adb install", which is how I tested it. I assumed a sideload would also work. I haven't put it in /system yet although I probably will do that when I build out TnT Lite 2.00 - that's coming next week btw, as soon as VS sends out their new firmware update and I can get my hands on it.

My GTab was configured like yours. I unintalled Flash 10.1 and loaded the vanilla "out-of-the-box" Rom version. This version also had the clockwork menu so when you Flash don't panic if you see this pop up, just follow the instructions for loading the update.zip file from the /sdcard (I think it was option 2). I then side loaded Flash 10.1.apk from the PC to /sdcard and using ES File Explorer to access /sdcard, I doubled clicked on the Flash 10.1.abk to install.
Then I reinstalled TnT_Lite 2.0, flashed and then TnT_Lite 2.02 & Flashed this update.
ESPN3 works great. Also get Flash_TV from the Android Market and you now have IPTV. I am anxious to get the docking module so I can stream HDMI 1080P to my 46" LCD. No more cable, no more monthly cable bills (I do get internet 28MB/sec service).
Still looking for an optimized Nvidia Tegra 2 video media player that will take advantage of the processors embedded video encoder functions. I expect this will play HDMI 1080P movies quite nicely. Rock Player is rumored to be working on a dual core Cortex 9 version. Right now it plays using the software control option and is slow and clunky.
I believe that Flash 10.1 is optimized for the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and it is quite nice. The streaming videos play smoothly. Not sure how they will play in HD when using the docking module and the HGMI connection to the large screen.
Best of luck. It's easy once you figured out how to do the original Flash load(s).

So I followed your instructions like 5 times on my Slide. I even went and purchased Root Explorer (my only paid for app in 10 months). Each time I use the file editor and save changes (I made a backup) then reboot the file reverts back to what it was before the changes were made. Oddly, each time after editing the file mysteriously disappears as well.
Any ideas why this is happening?
I just used adb and pulled the file while in recovery (although you must mount the system when in there). Modified it and pushed it back into place.

Really grateful for the info and the zip. so not to negate your work into helping everyone out, but here is an easier solution that some might find more convienent:

Thank You SOOOOO MUCH!
After some failed push attempts I finally was able to push my edited build.prop in recovery. But of course the phone had edited it by the time the reboot was finished.
The device Check off option works for me, but I like the idea of being able to just download it from market, and use the stock App. Also the spectre of future updates OTA. Thanks a million!!!!
As a semi-recent android adopter I'm still pretty green on how to use the attached update zip. I'm not dumb enough to ask for a walkthrough, but if someone could point me to a useful thread I'd appreciate it!
just a little fyi, but changing your build.prop with the zip in the op will allow you to use hulu+
1.3 seems broken for me. The video is out of sync, seems slow compared to the audio. Went back to 1.2.2 and things were fine.
I upgraded my Dell Streak 7 to Honeycomb this week. So far I am happy with the result.
The last remaining thing to get working was NETFLIX. I downloaded and installed the latest application. It shows your queues, etc, but will not play.
So I did some searching and came on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178773
This thread is for an ASUS device, but I extracted the libnvomx.so file from the zip file and replaced the file in /system/lib/ on my device, rebooted the machine, and now I can play Netflix stuff!
A couple of notes:
1. Your device needs to be rooted.
2. Rename your old libnvomx.so file instead of copying over it, just in case!
3. Reboot the device after you have completed replacing the file.
4. I used root explorer to file operations
Thanks for sharing, hopefully Netflix will get this sorted out for non-rooted users.

It installed and worked great. My Streak 7 HoneyComb now pretty much complete, Netflix, and Skype (with both front and back camera work).
Here's the modified package

Note: Some people still want it - I put it back to the URL above. Use at your own risk.
Enjoy, Hien.

Hien,
Thanks for the netflix apk. Good work.
Can you provide a link to the Skype apk? Only one camera works on the last update that I pulled off the Market.
Thanks for your help.

I just use the Skype from Market - nothing special. I did a factory reset after the HC update and install Skype from Market. Both front and back camera works - I can switch camera during call, my Skype version is 2.5.0.108.
Thanks for the file to get my Netflix running!!!!

I was able to do the same - download Netflix1.4.1 (in the same post above) then use apktool to decompile the original Netflixv1.4.1 and change all entries of
ro.product.model=A500
ro.product.manufacturer=Acer
to
ro.product.model=Dell Streak 7
ro.product.manufacturer=Dell Inc.
and rebuild the apk then sign the apk with sign+

^^^what he posted. Nothing special to do other than making sure you delete the non-working version of Netflix.
Thanks again to the original poster for the download!!!
