Well the thing is that I can't connect to the internet thru skyfire and dolphin HD when on 4g; opera works as usual. I am able to connect any way with any browser when on wifi. So what's the deal? Did my phone company block the ports for those browsers because they are able to burn through high amounts of data quickly? (Skyfire has flash, so you can watch videos just like on PC) anyway enuff with the guesses, anyone know what the deal might be?

Just tried it. That is pretty neat. Works great...
I had found it hard to find a working streamer for my music on my G-Tab. Saw this in and article on engadget and gave it a shot. Nice find

This works externally on any wi-fi service. You do not have to be connected to your home network to connect to your music. You can get it from any wi-fi. On your phone, this will allow you to stream your music anywhere on 3G or wi-fi

I access my music in gmote on 3g from anywhere in the world i just forward the right ports from my ip address and access all the files without needing wifi on my droid at least, since there is no 3g on the gtab maybe i will try this program. thanks for the info.
There is almost zero setup on this application. Download the app to your android device, then download the app on your PC and just point it to folder you want it to watch and magic-tastically it shows up on your android device.

I think I am getting poor quality from Plex when connected to the TV its pretty pixelated... anyone else have that? Or is it an option I haven't played with
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Too little information to give you a good answer. But yes, there are options for streaming bandwidth for example that can affect quality.
On the main settings page on the plex app on the xoom, you can change bandwidth that it uses over local, over wan, and over 3g (not useful on wifi xooms). Above 2mbps and all my HD moves and tv shows look 100% HD on the xoom with no jitters, stutters, blurring, nor fragmentation. Couldn't be happier. I'm pretty sure that is the one major setting which will affect quality. That and the quality of the input video of course
edit: Also, I'm pretty sure there is an option to down-mix DTS to stereo on the server through the web browser interface. I would definitely recommend enabling that for playback on the xoom.
Ok all settings were on auto. Changes local to 5mbs but what is remote WiFi... when you are on WiFi but the media isnt?
Thanks

Remote Wifi is when you are still on Wifi, but a different network from your server (at a friend's or halfway across the world). The most important factor here is the upload speed capability of your server. I keep my Local at 5mbps, remote at 2mbps, and don't have 3g so can't comment on the last option (mobile broadband, 3g, or whatever they have it labeled, cant remember).
edit: Check out the Plex wiki on their website. It will answer pretty much every question you can think of. Extremely informative.
Looking better already! Odd that auto doesn't set itself pretty good when its local!
Also anyone have issues with video freezing when going into settings or pausing and the screen locking?

No issues here, everything works perfectly.

The developer mentioned somewhere that the auto detection is pretty poor and that they would be working on it more in the future. The other advice about tweaking for each connection type is spot on as well

I recently switched to CM7.1 and would like to have an app that does DLNA media streaming similar to what the stock rom had. Anyone have any suggestions? Any feedback would be most appreciated.

twonky
it works great, i use it all the time
I tried twonky, I like imediashare a bit more, seems to have a decent about of options

I love imediaShare. I have zero complaints. Twonky didn't work as well with my hardware.
Skifta is AMAZING. Very user friendly.

whats the difference between the paid and free imediashare app? can anyone tell me i cant find it
I've also been looking for a good alternative to the stock DLNA since it doesn't work with ps3. Then again, nothing much works on the ps3 since the network is down. anyway, I tried imediashare, but it didn't seem to work either. Is the ps3 DLNA technology just to outdated for the Thunderbolt?
Sent from by Thunderbolt using Tapatalk
I confirm imediashare works very nice with ps3. I love its feature where you can
1. stream youtube and many many sites directly
2. I like the way you can search for videos on your mobile and see them on ps3
3. I love its inbuit channels,very useful
4. Reliable and always works, no jerks no crashes.
5. plays HD content
6. Youtube quality is extremely good compared to the ps3 browser youtube.
7. Suppprts UPNP features of my ddwrt router.
It does not play my mobile(3gp) videos because none of these software can transcode, and ps3 can't play 3gp directly.

Me 2 since Winphone 6
Dolphin HD here.
I'm liking Dolphin, set to work as a desktop
I, too, use Opera Mini.
Either Dolphin HD or Firefox Beta, your call.

Dolphin for desktop browsing, Miren for something else

+1 for Dolphin too. I also use it on the iPad and it syncs favorites between them which is kind of handy.
Opera Mobile. Because the stock browser is junk.
I use Opera Mobile and Dolphin Browser HD.

Im loving Dolphin HD more now that it has an evernote extension!
I tried them all, by far the best and easiest to use has been the Boat browser. Once you go Boat, you never go back.
I use dolphin personally due to its stylish user interface and gesture support.

Can someone explain the benefits of using a browser other than stock? I surf the web a lot (2.5gig a month) on my phone and have always used the stick browser...?
i prefer opera mobile, but i might have to switch back to dolphin since they have an evernote add-on now.
I downloaded Opera Mobile from android market.
At least is not transfering so much data.
Quick and fast!
It's all good
Really a matter of preference.
However some might do specific tasks better than others. For example the other day I tried Dolphin, Opera, Firefox and the native browser during a flash stream of a basketball game. I was hooked up to my home wireless router.
I never did get the flash addon to work properly on Firefox. Opera and Dolphin opened the stream just fine, but the video was jerky and hard to watch.
By far the best video continuity was with the native browser.
But I still prefer Firefox for general web browsing.
hey guys,
im on the lookout for a nice browser
which one you like most ? i personally like the stock one in tablet mode, but it fails to load some webpages properly ... havent found anything with good functionality/speed/smoothness compromise yet. chrome is nice, but it needs soooo much ram, cant even have 3 tabs open without having to reload them after switching.. awful.
i was hoping ucbrowser would answer my call, but something peculiar happened, i tried the tablet version first, just out of curiosity and it worked great, fast quite smooth with occasional hiccups. but the phone version was just horrible, lagged like i was running it on a single core 600mhz cpu. just pathetic... anyone know what the deal is with that ?
cheers
Naked browser
dolphin but now has some bugs, Opera......
the hemelywo
Chrome or Opera mini
Im using chrome, just becouse its syncing with my pc, but to be honest, the stock browser is my second best one!
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
thanks, ill try the naked browser
i didnt like to browse forums with chrome, the text is uneven, eg posts are displayed in a much larger font than the quotes in the same posts, so constant zooming is needed if you want to read the quote. bs..
browser
Chrome and Opera
I'am using this amazing browser named Puffin Browser and it's blowing my mind atm with its lightning speed!
I use "Lightning Browser"! It's just incredibly more fast than Chrome and than all browsers i used
I like AOSP/CM stock browser on kitkat. Puffin is fast indeed but that's it. I also use Opera mini for its great rss support.
