Morning peeps,
just a mention, i'm quite amazed with the lack of marketing for the HD7.
Just walked into a o2 shop to confirm if the HD7 is still on for 21st Oct and the answer was YES. But there no HD7 pics or notice on the o2 shop front.... why?
2 days left and no advertising...
It was exactly the same last year with the release of the HD2 and I imagine it happens all the time with new phones.
Last year they released the HD2 without marketing online or in any of the UK shops, but by lunchtime they had sold out their stocks. It was the same story over at Vodaphone UK.
Remember, you're probably not the only person to have walked into the shop and asked for the HD7 and I can imagine demand will be high for the first few weeks. After that HTC will probably have more units made.

cool, but as i recall correctly, IPHONE 4 was marketed much better and well before its release. why not just copy it
I agree, Apple are good at that. MS doesn't have any real say over the OEMs and it is HTC supplying the devices to O2. HTC are also supplying several models on launch day, so I imagine they don't have all their factories making one model. AT the end pof the day we will never know.
Lets just hpe we don't have the hardware mess that was the iPhone antennae
So far here in the UK I haven't seen any advertising for Windows Phone 7. The only ads I've seen are ones I've found myself through reading about WP7 on sites like engadget and other tech news sites. If I was a member of Joe public, I'd have no clue it existed unless I'd actively been looking on Orange's website at phone upgrades.
Maybe I haven't been hanging around bus stops enough to see the advertising posters?
I agree I haven't seen anything either. I do recall knowing about the new iPhone 4 about a week before it was released, I think MS has missed the boat here.
The marketing of the features on this phone is truly a disappointment. My single favourite feature is the wireless sync. My brother always tells me hes jealous for that feature alone (he has an iphone 4). But most likely no one will hear about this and apple will introduce it in their next update and it will be the greatest thing that apple has done and all microsoft can do is sit there and say we had that first.
I've searched but I didn't found any thread for the portuguese market.
So, I think that we needed this place to talk about the long waited Nexus 5.
Last year was very to us to get the Nexus 4 (at least at a fair price). Due to the stock crash only in January or February it was available at the main stores like Fnac or MediaMarkt but priced over 550€.
I hope that this year we could have it a lot earlier. Last year Google released some of his services in our country, like books or music. I hope (ok, I haven't that much hope...) they carry on launching their services so that we could have Play Devices but it is unlikely.
Lets see what comes and which retailers would sold it. And we'll alwways have services like forward2me and, my favorite, friends all over Europe

I approve of this post. I've also looked around the Nexus 5 forum and only found a way that involves using Tor and setting up a fake Google account, then buying from the UK, sending to a UK address and having the phone re-shipped to Portugal. This is way too much of a hassle for me and I can't say I fully trust it to work or be particularly cheap.
If anyone knows of a reputable online retailer that stocks the Nexus 5 and ships to Portugal, can you give us a heads up please? Or if you come up with an easier way of getting this candy into our hands?
Handtec has it on pre-sale with delivery expected arround November 11th. It's a litle pricey, it'sm about 359£ to the 16GB and about 401£ to the 32GB version. I'm not sure if we must add shipment dosts to Portugal but if so I don't that is over 10€.
I've read on another forum that forward2me has a special to this device that theeirselves bought the device and just ship it to you but needs to check this.
Thanks, ToneJeco. I'll check out those options. It's a bit of a markup compared to the £299 on Google Play or £295 at Carphone Warehouse, but who knows?

Personally, I'm going to try one of the The Phone House stores (The Phone House = Carphone Warehouse in Portugal, and other countries) and see if they could get a Nexus 5 in. Somehow.
I might do that as well. Did it in Media Markt already (they'll warn me if and when they get the Nexus 5), as they previously had the Nexus 4 for some time.

Fnac.pt will unveil the nexus 5 next week, so next week we'll know if it's an official LG launch or not.
If it is the phone will be available in practically every major chain.
For those thinking about buying via playstore and forward2me it's much cheaper to buy from carphone warehouse (less hassle with mbnet declines, free postage to forward2me and no need for personal shopping)

i think ill have to do it like a i did with my nexus 4.
find a friend in uk and ask them to buy it and send it to me... its cheaper...
but first i need to sell my n4, money isnt that much in my pocket...
but good idea to start a thread for our contry...
Managed to grab two 16GB Nexus 5 (BLK) directly from the German Play Store, through a work colleague based in Germany and should have 'em with me sometime during next week. :victory: :fingers-crossed:

Really ?! Because I've called FNAC today after reading your post and they had no idea what the heck I was talking about. And based in a past experience, ordering from Carphone Warehouse (even to a UK forwarding address) was actually a PITA.

I've called several FNAC stores and checked their website. Also, I couldn't find any official statement about the Nexus 5 availability at their facebook page.

Found it, thanks!
The answer given by FNAC's representative wasn't, well... Too convincing. But yeah... Let's see what happens next week and, above all, how much they will ask for it.
I've ordered a black 32Gb one from the UK play store... Well, not me, but a friend of mine who's working in London.. He will then send it to me through Royal mail. I hope to have it by the 11th or 12th of November..!
Cant wait!

I'm a litle afraid of Fanc's prices since last year they sold Nexus 4 @ 600€ but things may be diferent if LG make it official. I hope so since they seem to be trying hard to push their image and get their space in the smartphone's market with G2. A Nexus device is always a good way to increase that recognition.
I almost bought N5 this weekend but I believe is better to chill a bit and wait, I really have no hurge so I'll wait to see how the things evolve and how will be the availability here in Portugal. But that price from carphone is very tempting

Nope, you got the same problem. LG wanted to charge 600 for the N4. They'll probably do the same for the N5. So, even if it's an official release, we'll have it for 600€ over at FNAC.

Problem is, it isn't that easy to get CPW to send you anything to Portugal, even through a UK forwarding address. Firstly, because you need a credit or debit card associated to an UK billing address (I don't think you can do that with MBNet) and secondly, you need a real UK mobile phone number, something that services like Forward2me do not provide.
And I highly doubt FNAC Portugal will have the Nexus 5 in the coming week as a representative stated at FNAC's facebook page. Right now, the availability of the Nexus 5 in B&M stores isn't a reality with CPW being one of the very few exceptions so it's highly unlikely they'll have it in stock this week. But let's see what happens.
Lg has several country wide launches scheduled for this week, so I don't thing that's so unlikely

Hi everyone.
If I buy a Nexus 5 in the UK to use in Portugal (I have a friend in London that can buy it) will all radios work correctly in Portugal? I know GSM is the same in all Europe but what about 3G LTE. Can anyone confirm or tell me how I can check it?
All versions are sold out in Canada. Where else in the world is it sold out and which models are or are not available? Curious to see what is going on.

The community builds an enormous hype over a phone that has not been announced and expects Google to have demand for everyone on the first day. Don't blame google.
Still available here in Australia. All versions and colours
Ships on the 5th of November!
Shipping in 2-3 weeks. USA
Some stock just popped back in for Canada for a few minutes. But now it says "leaves warehouse in 3 to 4 weeks" lol

Was in the US and managed to take advantage of the Tmobile deal and get 2 black 2 orange for 209 bucks plus tax, as well as paying full price for the Rose Gold version, ended up selling one black one orange at my cost to friends when back in KSA, and made 500 riyals a piece on the other black and orange one. Kept the Rose Gold as it my favorite color.
Samsung had a booth in Kingdom this past week, they told me that the Gear would likely not come to KSA because of the camera issue, but it was readily available in Bahrain, Dubai and Qatar, or you could just amazon/Aramex it.
I would just PayPal someone here in the U.S. To buy one for you and ship it. If you use PayPal you're protected against fraud.

as much as I would like to i am too uncomfortable buying online and never tried it, besides you will never know with saudi customs
hussa I dont read arabic but that's weird they are selling in bahrain, also jarir bookstore told me they will "come soon"
if its the camera thing then that could be a problem but isnt the camera loud anyway?
According to what I have read and heard from ppl... its banned because of the camera issue (when will we ever mature -_-)... and I totally agree with you on not buying it online... Not because of fraud issues... but because of the customs... I had some personal custom issues in the past while buying online and I live in dubai.. So I think Saudi customs will still be harsher... Yes I totally agree with you that the reason for the ban is non-sense since the camera is loud and its like any other gadget with a camera... but what can we do...
If I were you, I'd wait for another week or so at max... if it does not pass till then, I'd say you go buy it in person from Bahrain or Dubai, or ask a friend who is comming soon to the KSA to get it from wherever he is now and bring it in person to you... try avoiding 3rd party to increase the chances of getting through the customs...

I work for O2 UK as Technical Support and I can confirm it is available on both Contract and Pay as you Go. Pay as you go price is £336 (Official One Plus UK Website price is £329 as I ordered mine couple of weeks ago). The phone will be unlocked out of the box. We have live demonstration devices in stores also.
Contact Prices start from £28 per month.
This is the best phone I have ever come across as me being around phones and fixing them for the past 2.5 years and owning the latest phablets, that is quite an achievement.
This is an exclusive partnership between One Plus and O2 UK meaning you can't get it on any other network/carrier/shop in the UK unless you buy it from the official One Plus Website and wait for it to be delivered.

Great to hear djsynth. :highfive:
If I buy from o2 and the handset develops a fault after 30 days, am I having to deal with One Plus in China to get it sorted?
I've had a play with a few now in o2 shops and the speed is very impressive. I think this will be my next phone as the Pixel phones will be overpriced. :crying:

No, under UK law your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer, so as far as defects go its up to 02 to fix. If you break it ie drop it and smash the screen that however is a different matter.

Typical trick from retailers, is to try and defer complaints to manufacturers, but the law says the retailer is responsible for supplying you with goods of merchantable quality.
Also worth bearing in mind, this covers the device for defects within a reasonable period (or some such wording), so a phone supplied on a two year contract should be expected to be free from defects for at least the contract period, and most issues for longer than that.
One Plus Three just ordered. :victory:
Thanks guys for answering my questions. :highfive:
