I apologize if this has been discussed/answered elsewhere. A search didn't bring up anything. If it has, please link me to the appropriate thread. Thanks!
I'm currently using Simply Stunning 5.4, which is Android 2.3.4 and based on CM7. For some reason, the custom phone settings menu has removed the option to adjust the DTMF tone length between Normal and Long. CM (and possibly Gingerbread in general--not sure) defaults to short tone length, which my Verizon voicemail inbox refuses to recognize for my password. It acts as though I haven't pushed any buttons, even though I can hear the quick tones. When I back up and flash a stock 2.2.2 ROM, which has the option in there, and I change it to Long tones, I can access my voicemail no problem. But that's a hassle just to check voicemail. I love Simply Stunning and Gingerbread! There HAS to be another way to access this setting...right?
It seems like it should be as simple as a line of code somewhere with =1, 2 or 3, and if I could just change that number to 3 for Long or whatever, things would be great.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!
After a bit of research it looks like a little over a month ago, in CM nightly 15, an edit was made to android_frameworks_base to force phones to always use short DTMF tones. My question is, is there a way I can edit android_frameworks_base (if that's even a file somewhere or section in a file) to undo this and use long tones? Or, can I install a different version of android_frameworks_base and keep the rest of the ROM? That seems like a big ol' conflict that wouldn't work, but what do I know?
The workaround I'm using now is nandroid backup, load a stock FRG83G ROM, change the tones to long, check my messages, reboot into recovery, restore the nandroid backup. What a hassle to do this every day though! There HAS to be an easier way, aside from the obvious "Find a ROM that's not built on CM." I'm definitely getting closer to doing that, but it's also fun to solve things like this. Anyone?

a while ago, i was rom jumping left and right and i came across an app called Phone Prioritizer app.
i really liked this app, even though i wasnt sure it did anything..
i was reading about it and it says it makes sure your incoming calls dont mess up or lag or anything..
i forgot which rom had it... but would there possibly be an .apk of this app because i am currently running cyanogens latest 4.2.13 with the Darkstar theme and it doesnt have it.
sorry if this went in the wrong section btw...
It is in KINGXKX v2.3 I am using now... I was looking it up to see what it did too.
i would love this as my phone randomly sometimes takes forever to get to the dialer.
I wrote the phone prioritizer app.
It started off being called phone renicer then script scheduler. It actually installs as phone prioritizer in the app drawer for all versions.
Older versions are here when it was called phone renicer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4493992&postcount=126
Newer versions are here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=558822
The older versions were simpler to use.
The newer version allowed you to schedule any scripts you want by placing them in a specific folder on the sdcard. Sample scripts are in the zip file including the phone prioritizing scripts.
sweet, thanks jinx! mad props for this app. incoming phonecalls no longer lag

What priorities did you set to get no lag on incoming calls. I tried it with the default priorities (in the included txt files) but it seemed to make no difference.
Thanks
Andy
Have this been included in any ROM out there?
I'm running xROM 2.0 by JAC and have already heard the fastest ring. Afraid if I install it it would mess up things and slow down...
Thanks!
It changed the priority of the phone higher than all other running apps.
Mike Taylor was the originator of the code to do rhis.
My program just periodically reset it since it liked to revert occasionally.
This seemed to work extremely well with the roms that were out when this was written.
I don't have a g1 anymore so I can't say how well it works now.
There was a script in the thread with the older versions that would allow you to verify the phone's priority.

i set it to default and it works fine for me
It works for me using the default settings.
Thanks to all concerned.
Still found a use for this on My g2x
I am wondering if anyone knows how to make this possible on our hero. I know the DarchDroid roms allow this??
as of right now i'm using DarchDroid 2.7 and i am having too many problems with it. for example, random reboots, losing 3g connection here and there, not getting mms and sms sometimes too, gmail sometimes doesnt sync. AND CRAZY battery drain. It's just too much maintenance for me.
And yes I partitioned and wiped before flashing numerous times.
So is there a way to get the volume/trackball to skip tracks on the default music app? or is there a rom i'm not aware of that allows this? OR is there a file or xml or apk that i can edit/use to make this possible?
That is the feature that keeps bringing me back to the darchdroid rom. i'm gonna go back to DD 2.6.4 for now, not sure why i have no luck with 2.7.
But i really would like to receive MMS also and DarchDroid 2.6.4 doesnt have this, so i may try PureHero 2.1 again.
((Would love to be able to skip tracks without waking and unlocking the phone.))
Thanks for any input on this subject in advance. and if i find a solution, i'll be sure to post it and help some others out.
Hey folks,
I just flashed over the latest phiremod and I'm having a couple of small issues. 1: Whenever I go into settings > about phone and hit "status," it force closes on me before I can even see any info (like batt. status, level etc). Anyone experience anything similar and if so, found any workaround?
2: I downloaded and installed the newest version of Google Voice from the market but can't set it up. During set up, after I provide the number associated with it the next step attempts to set up voicemail (and obviously can't) so I just press the option to "skip" it, but whenever I do so the set up screen and the buttons go grey and just stay that way. Anyone know of any workarounds?
Thanks for any help!
Hope it's alright to bump this. Again, if anyone has any idea on a fix, I'd really appreciate it. (Of course, if I missed a thread or two about these same issues, feel free to throw in a link.)
Thanks!
This is a very simple issue that I'm having that I can't seem to find a solution for (i.e. can't find an option in any menu anywhere) Hoping someone can help.
I have CM7 installed on my Captivate, and I'm not sure if this is a CM7 feature or Gingerbread, but Id like my phone to wake up (I don't care if it stays locked) when I receive a text message (I think there may have been other instances when the screen didn't come on when I expected it to, but SMS is the big one). It currently does whatever I have it set to do in terms of vibrating/ringing but I'd like it to bring the screen on as well.
Anybody know how/if I can enable this?

Please use the Q&A thread instead of opening a new thread.
Just upgraded my captivate to the newest nightly cyanogenmod. No problems with the upgrade; did the usual google apps installations, etc. etc. What I've noticed is this (and a quick search of the forum didn't turn up similar issues):
In the contacts screen, I can no longer swipe left / right to message / dial respectively. There is a dial icon, but it was much more convenient to just swipe. Is this feature something that can be enabled? If so, how? I didn't see an option for it in the menus...
Also, I was used to being able to either "spell" a name, or start dialing the phone number in the dialer screen and have the name come up as I typed. This no longer works.
My contacts have been successfully imported, and I've rebooted multiple times... nothing seems to help.
So, has anyone else noticed this? If so, how do you fix it? Am I just missing some sort of simple option, like.. gimmie_some_pimp_ass_features_checkbox?
I have definitely seen some positive benefits to the upgrade... having tried multiple "distros" previously, I've always had slow GPS locking on my Android phone. Now, for the past couple days... it's been excellent. Within 10 seconds of launching the maps application, I've got a within 40 meter lock...
... but I digress.
If anyone has some input to this issue, I'd definitely like to hear it...
The swipe feature is a touchwiz feature, i.e. Samsung Rom and not aosp like CM7
