Hello everyone. I'm new to this whole experience and I have some questions:
1. How to under-volt/ over-clock?
# What I'm asking here is what program to use? What is the meaning of the different schedules like smart-ass, on-demand, etc...? Also, if there is a well known working point that I can start with?
2. I have a T-mobile Tab flashed to Overcome Hermes 2.0.1. I want to unlock it to be able to use it with other sim cards worldwide (or to be specific in Egypt). Is there a way to do this? Will this unlock be permanent, so I can insert any sim card in there including AT&T or T-mobile? Or will I have to do it every time I intend to change the sim cards?
I tried looking for answers to these questions but there are no guides or to be frank no guides that I can understand and follow. So, any help?!!

Any help would be appreciated...
Im a Sprint customer and my contract ends in May, I have learned to hate it... I want to change over to the AT&T Tilt phone... I been reading a lot about mods and unlocking this phone, etc. I understand that unlocking the phone allows me to use it on different networks but how does that really affect things.. what other service providers would support this phone? How does unlocking the phone and using it on another network work in relation to internet access, etc. Would it be that all Im doing is just giving myself the option to use this phone but with a plan from another company? Should I even worry about unlocking it? Just looking for some clear explanation of things.. thanks in advance
I would refer you to this thread, being new here:

If you are strictly referring to SIM unlocking, this could be useful if you travel and need to use a local SIM card for extended periods away from home.
I searched and I couldn't find the answer to the following:
I want to unlock my wing. I called Tmobile and got the unlock code from them. But now that I have to code how do I unlock my phone? I don't have access to a foreign sim card. Everyone I know has Tmobile. If someone could help me out with step by step instructions that would be great. Or just let me know that there is no way I can unlock the wing with the unlock code provided by Tmobile without a foreign sim card.
P.S. I don't want to it through a third party service. I have the code I just want to know the proper way to use the code. Thanks.

I think he was meaning SIM unlock, not a device unlock program
Not sure if.
This is what you mean but here goes.
I have a T-Mobile Wing as well. I called T-Mobile and got an Unlock code from them as well. There were instructions on entering the code directly into the phone (Via a Keypad). that's all you need to do.
Now I can place whatever sim card in my phone and use as normal. this includes but is not limited to domestic sims. I frequently place an AT&T sim in my phone to check that a sim is in working order when at work (testing blackberry phones *frown*).
I've done a lot of searching online for information about how the procedure is conducted, however either that information doesn't exist or there is just too much spam crap littered on the internet. I called T-mobile and requested the phone to be unlocked, and have recieved a confirmation email saying that I'll recieve my unlock code, however, after viewing someone actually changing out a sim card and inputing the unlock code I have to wonder if this procedure requires another sim card. I'm anxious...
It won't ask you for an unlock code until you put a different provider's SIM in the phone...
Just keep the unlock code around until you need it (I email myself with stuff like that)...
That does beg the question though of why you need a unlock code if you do not have another sim to use...? Just curious...
Also, I've been on a website called uniquephones.com and they claim to be able to unlock the G1 - has any actually tried them out?
Cheers,
Smiffy.
So does this mean that each time you start the phone with a different carriers sim card you'll have to enter the code, or only once? I'm a struggling student and I don't know if I can afford my contract here in the future, so I may have to use a different sim. Seems nice seeing how its a free service through T-mobile. TAKING FOREVER AND SOME though, I requested the unlock code last friday, I read others having their codes in 4 days, I'm going on 7 or 5 business days. Thanks though
hi I am new here, I get a g1 next week and I wondered if flashing a new rom affects the lock of the device... i bought it on ebay and have no tmobile plan. do i have to care about unlocking after flashing?
Was the device purchased "unlocked". I'm real fuzzy about this because I'm not sure if each time you use the device with a non-tmobile sim card I believe, but very well may be wrong, that you need to enter the unlock code before you can access the phone with that new sim. You shouldn't have any software boundaries that would make you unable to use the phone while rooting the device, as all the steps toward rooting are all done while the phone is either in fastboot or recovery mode.
it is locked.
maybe we have a non-tmobile user here, that can tell me whether or not he had to unlock after flashing. or does the locked/unlocked state "survive" a flash?
after rooting my device and flashing to the JF Dev 1.50 rom I was still asked for an unlock code for mine.
This is just my knowledge, don't fully rely on it. As far as I know, if the phone is rooted and is on one of the modified rom, it can be used with any sim card. If you have an unlocked code, you only have to enter it once. It will not ask you twice.
Hello peeps, i finally received my G1 today... Happy!
Two things i would like to know i do have a t-mobile sim here but i dont get t-mobile service in Australia so i will need to unlock it.
What would be the best way of going about this... could you point me in the best direction for the cheapest and safest Australian Unlock codes , other thing is somewhere i read its possible to skip the gmail bit and activate it later also someone said to me it was possible to start the wireless connection to enter those gmail details so i dont need a sim with data....
So main question is with a t-mobile sim here is it possible to access the phone without having it unlocked and without t-mobile service?
The other thing is i have heard going around is that dev images have unlock strings would this allow me to use a Australian sim to enter the details at the start without having to pay for unlock??
Call t-mobile to get the phone unlocked, they are quite relaxed with the unlock codes, secongany dev based rom something like cyan' s rom will allow you to skip the g-mail reg when you boot up and connect via wi-fi, even hero roms have that option
I tried messaging t-mobile but they said i needed proof of perches because i don't have a t-mobile account

If the phone is now running stock software it should work, doesn't matter if it was previously tampered. If you are getting a prompt to enter the unlock code when inserting a foreign sim card you should be good to go, just purchase your unlock code.
Thanks for the info and fast reply
Anyone know a good reliable site for unlock code and once unlocked if I put Vodafone card back in would it effect it in anyway

sim-unlock is permanent, it will not relock if you put a vodafone sim card back.
