Hi - this is a strange one....went through the walkthoughs and docs relating to downgrading my mates legend and then doing the s-off thing and then clockwork mod and then finally froyo.
All that went relatively fine ( a few hiccups along the way but im there ) the phone started out life as being a stock vodafone model and is now - obviously generic. Problem is, is that now i want to put an asda mobile sim in there (works off of the back of vodafone) it cant see their network - not only that - if i put my vodafone sim in there it cant see vodafone either,
Not really sure where to start so i thought id start here
This may not be the right place to post but seeing as it all worked before the rom update i thought this was as good as place as any to start.
thanks to anyone that chips in
Comfy
Wrong forum, sorry. That is a question, go ask it in the Q/A section please.

I realize there are numerous threads about the phone, but I have several questions and I don't think they fit into any single thread. Merge this if necessary.
First of all, the phone in question ran on Dwang's rom using EBI0 root hack. After the 911 bug thing with Rogers, they disabled the internet and the phone did not have data and sms. I found out about Cyanogen's radio update trick and proceeded to try it. I flashed the latest Cyanogen rom first, then did the radio update with the EBI1 kernel patch. The phone boot up normally.
Several days later (haven't used the phone), I realized another problem. Data and sms came back, but now I can't call or receive. Has anyone any idea about this problem?
[edit] Realized it is a temporary issue (one of many) with Rogers as other people I know can't call either.
I also pulled the battery out for some reason and noticed it was bloated/fatter/expanded/etc. Went to Rogers store and they were going to replace whole phone instead of just the battery. They're probably doing that to ensure I get a phone with the unrootable update.
Question is: Will Rogers realize if I send the new phone back with the old battery?

Yes due to IMEI, but if they ask just say you didnt need the phone.
i have just bought last week a SGS GT-I9000T, i have searched the whole of the galaxy range of forums on here and only found two with links to I9000T, the rest of the details for this phone is : Model Name: GT-I9000T
Current Version: PDA-JJ1/phone:JI1/CSC:JI1
and the info from About phone Firmware Version 2.1-update!
Basebandversion I4000tdoJ1!
Kernal Version 2.6.9 [email protected] #2
Build Number Eclair.Dojj!
does the above mean that my phone is rooted ?? i know it shows root in the kernal, but i do no have superuser and im still locked in with NZtelecom, any info or help would be really appreciated many thanks and regards to all..
No, root in the kernel version doesnt mean its rooted.
What is it exactly that you want root for?
A bit more info and we can point you in the right direction
For rooting try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728754
Just make sure your 3 button recovery mode works. If you do than its a matter of trial and error for trying custom roms etc because arent you on 850htz band?
Surely he can update to Froyo on Kies
Froyo not in nz or aus yet so its either kies hack or european froyo.
awsome guys many thanks and the very best of regards...

Hi All and many thanks for your input with this, as stated froyo is not available in NZ yet, but my problem is that the phone is tied to Telecom XT and we have four main carriers is NZ them being Telecom XT, Vodafone, 2Degress and Telstra. the first I9000T that i got was tied to Vodafone and i took it back to the shop as i wanted a phone that would work with 2Degrees, and preferably on all frequencies so i had the option to change sims if i wished, so the second phone that i was given was tied to Telecom XT, then i am told that the phone will not work with 2 degrees and they were not willing to order a phone in for me, so we reached a compromise on the phone, they took $200 off of the cost and threw in a 8GB sd card. ok so back to my question i need to root the phone so that it will work with 2Degrees and get rid of the bloatware at the same time. and to update to froyo would be a bonus for me.
the three button recovery does work and i have just now managed to root the phone, after reading lots of pages of info on the subject, what i was doing wrong is not using the volume key and starting the update with the power button, a pretty simple mistake but it was really frustrating and i don't really remember reading about it in all of the info that i found on how to do this.
so thanks to all i am now rooted and just have to update to froyo, so more reading to get there.
just one thing that i have noticed between the two phones i was given and i might be wrong here, but after taking the back off of the phone and where the sim card goes there looks like another sim slot between the usable sim slot and the edge of the phone, but the first phone and i am pretty sure on this did not have in the back as it was covered by black plastic without any holes in it, i will try and post a pic of the back that is in this phone, so we can compare and see if there is anything in this.
so once again many thanks for all of the help, and with the very best of regards to all
dave
Froyo ?
while i now have super user status kies tells me that my device is unable to be updated ? any one have an idea or any info on this, once again many thanks to all and the very best of regards
welcome to the joys of kies... i think most people here use odin to flash there roms maybe thats a option you could use quick easy and plenty of custom roms on this site to try.
Hey everyone im not sure if this is covered in another topic or forum but i recently started flashing roms on my Cappy(recently did assonance 5.2 and LOVE IT!) but right after i flashed this newest one i put i also got a hold of a tmobile sim card to go ahead and unlock my phone...now since ive done this at least 3-4 times a day i get the message "sim card removed. please reboot phone" or something like that...is anyone else having this problem and if so plz tell me how you fixed it or if this is in another forum post a link. Im kinda thinking i may just need a new sim card....
Could be a bad ROM flash. Backup apps and data, wipe and re-flash.

Do you use airplane mode a lot? I know some modems have an issue coming out of airplane and having SIM problems. Try flashing another modem. JK4 is known to be one of the more stable ones. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=867309
Just flash the zip from CWM Recovery. (NOTE: These are for I9000 based roms like Assonance or Serendipity.)
Ok thats what i was thinking it could have been that but wasnt sure. Do you think re flashing my modem rom will fix it or will i need to reflash the whole rom? I have only tried 3 different modem roms and so far i like the tl3 since it has hsupa enabled...have you used jk4 alot? and how did it work for you?
Just to give you guys an update...i reflashed jk4 with CWM and ive only had the error message show up ONCE! So thanks for the help on that fellas. While im at it would you guys recommend any tweaks or anything to go with jk4 or assonance?
Hey everyone i have had massive problems with the IMEI on my i9000 finally managed to flash back to stock ROM but im still getting no signal. The IMEI is fine and i have a backup of the efs folder saved. What files do i need in this folder as i will delete all of the contents then start again.
Thanks
If your still getting no signal but are not getting "No Service" then either the modem you flashed in the stock ROM is utter pants for specific handset so trying flashing a different modem or a different ROM altogether :/
But if a different modem or ROM doesn't fix it then you have a antenna problem... sorry bud
Hey mate,
Cheers for the reply. I will try a new ROM can you recommend any small ROM's that will work on my device? I don't know a great deal abour ROM's and flashing in general tbh.
I need to finish my guides badly! Then I'd just be able to point you towards them :/
But since their not... cause I've been lazy, please head over to SamMobile/ and create an account if you haven't already done and download the correct firmware for you i9000.
Getting the right firmware is difficult, it's even more difficult since I'm guessing you don't know the PDA build from what the phone was running originally... for example by phone when I got it was running I9000BVJV7 which is actually Android 2.3.3 for the UK and sim locked to Orange.
When you take into account that the Android version, the country and the carrier have an effect on the specific firmwares for two (on the face) identical phones you can begin to see how many millions of different firmwares there are out there just for one phone...
So just try your best and read all the helpful info on SamMobile. If you get really really stuck or if something nasty happens to the phone while flashing either come back to this thread or PM me and I will talk you through a recovery kit that will hopefully restore the phone to a stock ROM (but not official stock ROM).
Since you're new to flashing please be reminded flashing can completely kill a phone to the point of no return, having said that I must have flashed a million times in both ClockworkMod and Odin but that doesn't mean death can't happen at any time.
Thanks mate i really am grateful for the help. I will give that a go and see what i can find.
Downloaded all of the vodaphone rom's and all of the orange roms. The device was used on vodaphone and im still getting the same error :/ any more ideas?
The title says it all....imei recovery.
Who can help me with that, former owner flashed the wrong rom, usb jig didn't work, jtag did work only they can't find the modum and they can't find the imei....found a solution for the modum.....but for the imei problem that seems to be a big problem, is there someone with a solution greetz mike
-the phone is at a repaire company
-they tried different rom's
No1 ??? :crying:
it sounds like the efs/imei directory is wiped or corrupted take a look at this thread, might be able to help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1611796Its for the galaxy s2 but file directories are the same.
have they tried to update the phone back to stock firmware by using samsung kies? that may also work.

Yesterday dutch time 16:00 hours i had it back in my pocket, the t879, they did it...howe i dont know.
But...yes there is a but.
1) The t879 runs a i717 rom....and it has got no root acces, is that even possible?
But number 2) is there a conection between wifi turned on and the error called "no sim card"
In the 30hours i have it back most of the time @home (wifi on) "no sim card" and on the road (wifi off) no problem with the card.
Yesterday got myself a new sim card coz i had an old 1 that was 12 years old (dutch libertel ,former dutch vodafone) and i got the new micro sim card they told me it will take a couple of hours befor the new sim card be active...is it possible that coz it's weekend for vodafone that the new sim card wil be fully activated at monday when vodafone opens doors???
