[think tank] SmartWifi (UMA/GAN)

Since T-Mobile has UMA/GAN supported phones, and with the Kineto Wireless guys having a UMA/GAN setup that is compatible with Android (and that they demoed on a Vibrant), is there a possibility that it could be ripped from another device and ported to the Vibrant?
I am not exactly very well versed in what would be required, but I would presume that since it is all a software handoff anyway, I don't see why this wouldn't be theoretically possible. Of course a driver is probably necessary for this, but if they were demoing it on a Vibrant, then maybe this is something that is already built into the radio firmware to support?

I would assume that if its an apparently, we'll be able to pull it and make it work, but it depends on the intricacies of the setup...

I saw an article on tmonews that there will be an OTA for "select new phones" that allows UMA. I have to assume that the Vibrant will be one of those phones.
Now my question is...I'm running a custom ROM, should I switch back to stock to get UMA?
Hopefully one of the devs will be able to capture the .apk after download and integrate it into the new custom ROMs

I'm definitely very interested in this as well! Subscribing to this thread in hopes the apk will be available/extracted soon!

They company that developed this software didn't do it for modder cred, they did it for money. The only way this gets released is if T-mobile pays them for it. Until then don't hold your breath for the apk to get released into the wild.

I'm not expecting it to get released into the wild, I'm expecting it to be sent OTA to all of us with Vibrants. At that point, I imagine that one of the devs might be able to grab it and incorporate it into the custom ROMS.
IANAL, but I doubt it would be illegal, since the only people who would be using it would be the t-mobile customers who were covered under T-Mobile's license...

Just found this. Supposedly taken from LG prototype revolution. Wasn't able to stream content on my fascinate, I'm hoping maybe someone could find a way. Here's the apk download URL. http://lts.cr/TY5

As mentioned above. Streaming will not work on any current-gen phone (might on the Atrix, due to its updated hardware).
Netflix is "concerned about piracy" (LOLrite?), and will only allow streaming on phones equipped with the newer-generation ARM processors that have hardware DRM implemented. The current hummingbird and snapdragon processors do not.

That sucks. Looking forward to the official release either way.

Damn. I was really hoping to be able to use my phone to pirate netflix content.

No matter how hard it is I think it would be worth it to be able to rip sd 4" content, yah baby!

Forget ripping, I wouldn't mind getting full use of my paid netflix subscription. Had to buy a wifi blueray player cause Sony is a bunch of douches and got tired of constantly hacking just to keep that app working (the only thing I don't pirate is games lol, but I wanted my homebrew). Maybe one day, on this or another phone....

Google+ App not supported on Nexus S?

Has anyone else tried to download the Google+ app on Nexus S? I did and on the android market it said that it is not compatible with my Nexus S. How can that be?

Ive had it since day one. No issue here. Try the apk posted here on the forum

Same here.

I see it was only available to users within the US (and Canada I guess). Maybe it's to do with the whole gradual roll-out of Google+. Anyway, I got it and thanks

The app is working fine for me. I haven't quite figured out which functionality it might be lacking, and it is evolving as Google+ changes. So far so good!

I downloaded it in Germany and it works, no probs.

To the posters that don't see that it's a big deal, watch the help videos and see how it works. I find something new every few hours.

Yeah, and the UI is the best looking UI I've seen in an app. Everything runs really smoothly. Uploading pictures from the phone is effortless. Everything loads really quickly too; better than any Facebook app I've used.

LG Revolution flash to MetroPCS

simple question. Is it possible to flash an LG revolution from Verizon over to MetroPCS?
if anyone knows any helpful threads or how to do it i'd appreciate it. I've been searching for a while with little luck

that's what i thought. I looked at the houdini flashing tool and the revolution isn't listed as a device.
my friend who is looking to have the phone flashed said a guy on craigslist claims he can do it, but i'm doubting that guy is being totally honest, especially considering he wants to keep the phone for 4 days to do it.

That means that your on the V8 build of firmware on your LG. You will have to downgrade to V7 in order for that dialer code to work. They purposely took ##lgservicemenu out on v8 to keep people from flashing. I would write up a tutorial on how to do it but....

They didn't take it out just so you know. Our company still flashes them even on V8. Can't share there method but they still do V8 you can check it out at flashtotalk

I'm using the new xda one app. Its in alpha but OMG is it so much better than tapatalk. I already rated its app as crap on the playstore lol.

I want more than just xda access tho. Thankfully I'm back on the older version and can actually make sense of what's going on. Who ever designed that new update needs a punch in the face

You should get used to play with this new UI but I would not say it's awful.
BTW Tapatalk has now access to your position and accounts (I saw these requests through Xprivacy).

Just updated to see what all the fuss was about. They ruined it. Glad I had a copy of 4.9.5 in Titanium lol.

EDIT: Nevermind, dumb me found the link before your post. :angel:

I made the mistake and now i finaly switched to xda go app. That tapatalk app is so terrible right now that i cant even understand how bad it is. Been using the pro version since 2010 but now its enough.

Yes that's the problem, Tapatalk is the only app, forum friend is to slow and other i don't find. I use Tapatalk since years but it's getting more and more horrible and the last two updates are the biggest crap i ever see. The XDA App is nice, if you want a app for more Forum you are lost

Tapaltk is orrible now....

Have someone found a decent alternative for it?
