I was wondering if anyone could try to port this? shouldn't be much work, and *maybe* wifi tethering might work? I think it would be a good idea
I think porting from P500 (Optimus One) is much easier. Also Mur4ik has already started his work on porting .32 kernel. Check here.

I think advantages are Native Tethering, "full hardware acceleration", and better(?) integration in Froyo System.
The port from LG Optimus Me will be pointless, because it has QVGA resolution, and our GT540 Optimus has HVGA. You'll have to resize the whole framework and apps, and they will look ugly resized.

I have found that there's a MIUI apks and framework port for the HTC Hero (HDPI > MDPI), which has some of the same things as our phone (screen size: 320*480, Arm11 processor, etc.), I have tried putting the apks in the provided ROM, but clockwork won't flash it with error 0. Can a dev continue this, as I am not good with ROM developing?

Without a sources its does not make sence.
Because we do not get fully working ROM.
MIUI a more specigfic to HTC product and compatibility its not just a same processors.
So ... we should just forget about MIUI ports untill they (MIUI team) share they sources.
In other case situation can be the same like in case with SENSE porting
Try putting it into the HTC rom kitchen(works on are device). Use the porting tools against 2.1 stock rom. Should clean up some errors. Source code would be needed for fine tuning though.

Afaik, It needs the TouchWiz Framework (twframework-res.apk) and other Samsung files, So would probably require a port of a Samsung ROM, like the Galaxy 3 or Galaxy Ace (I love mine) TouchWiz is very nice and smooth

I've looked at that guide, and it wouldn't work on O2x without A LOT of changes. We have the whole nvidia userspace-drivers stuff, that only Arcee understands.
Yup, its going to take lots of work without the nvidia codes.
i tried this - no success, i made all required changes i think, but smth wrong with boot.img - i think i can't repack it correctly

We will get AOSP working eventually, some armv6 devices will get CM9 and so we can just port it over ourselves.
There might be loads of patching though.
The most important first is working touchscreen , later everything should be easier to repair (libs from CM7 may work ) .
There are no problems with res ?

Being based on the eris port, and seeing how everything looks on that. Probably not. I guess there might be some resizing here an there. But I doubt it!
eris is 320x480, wildfire 240x320, then i think the rom need resizing

Not necessarily, AOSP supports multiple (if not all) resolutions, the elements of ICS will be sized according to the DPI set in the build.prop.
HTC's Sense UI on the other hand, is only created for one device at a time in mind.

Rom is really smooth so far. But it is just for devs or to get a view on ICS.
No sound, no wifi/data and no call. so nothing for daily use.
But it is awesome, that we will get ICS before LG will update it.
It works! I'm honestly impressed!
Wifi is working if you set ip to static.

It's a bit hit and miss, but you're right, I've got WiFi!

Lol we are also working on a Optimus 2X rom as well so I don't see the point in porting from our build....
Btw we recently fixed wifi... this is why we don't post recent builds so they can't be ported before they are ready.

yes as long as its framework changes, if they start installing binary libraries , it might cause bootloop. but regular graphics mod should work just fine , as long as you look for the version 2.x this was based on, JB mods will not work
