Not until someone ports it.
There are no 2.3.x roms for the 7 yet.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know that I have been working on trying to port cm, as well as a few others. So far without any luck.

not yet
to get the port you need the nexus s rooted and with busybox installed but they have not yet done that
The idea is to get Gingerbread on Samsung?

hi
i saw some devices that running Vanilla android roms (some chine's phones)
why there is no way to install the stock vanilla Gingerbread like in
the Nexus phones?
because there untill now there was no source code. though the componants are the same as the nexus s there are diffences that make it very difficult to port. the effort for an aosp rom has been mostly focused on cyanogen mod 7. it may be posible to get a stock nexus rom to install over a kernel cyanogen mod.
if you want sonething similar to stock nexus 2.3.3 the best route is to install cyanogenmod 7 and the stock gingerbread launcher. then you have everything the nexus has plus some enhancments and all open source
U can also try continuum v5 rc3.

continuum is nothing like the nexus s. it is a touchwiz ROM. if you want the stock android gingerbread feel, cyanogenmod 7 is the closest you'll get right now.

I always come back to cm. Currently on n253, gonna try 7.2 the moment i got some time. I'm waiting with ics for my next device (not counting my prime )
Personally, though, I find MIUI to be the best Gingerbread ROM. I hate the iOS-styled launcher, though, so I changed it for Launcher 7.

+1
of all the gb roms i used, i find QND MIUI best as of now (though all the other roms were equally good and had no trouble). i find it to be more appealing. and those cool themes make the phone look different each time

I need A Stable ROM
Depends on what you term "stable" to mean.
CM10 Alpha 1 is stable, just not 100% working.

Hey i have a windows 8 computer and im wondering how i can root my dads captivate, i have a nexus 7 which is rooted but he wants his phone rooted andd im wondering is there away other than command codes, from what i know superoneclick wont work on windows 8 but idkk please help thanks
It works fine on win7, which isn't too different from win8 or vista. Have you seen any reports where it failed? It generally fails gracefully and doesn't do any harm.
Idkk apparently it needs framework 2.5 but windows 8 has 4.5

What ROM/version is he running? Superoneclick won't work on higher version (ICS/JB) if I remember correctly.
That being said, if you want to root a 2.1-2.2 version, you can simply flash Speedmod kernel through recovery. 2.3 (GB) would need Corn kernel with Odin 1.85
He's running stock gingerbread 2.3.3

Superoneclick will work on older OS with GB.
But like I mentioned earlier, you can flash Corn kernel with Odin 1.85 to gain root on GB. Once it's flashed, boot into recovery, under advanced, you'll be able to root.
Ya but super one click doesn't work on windows 8

Hence when I said on ''older OS''. OS = Operating System = Windows in this case.
Flash Corn kernel and you'll get the root. Don't need superoneclick.
