I really need a super clean ROM based on official gingerbread 2.3.4 with black and white theme. Or at least a minimal black and theme that works on official 2.3.4 JVP !
Anyone help me ?
PS: After installing the ROM what else should I do ? (Kernel, lagfix, update, themes and ...)
Juwe has a black and white theme.
After installing you don't have to do anything, but you can enable lagfix and flash another kernel.

Where can I find the ROM and how can I enable lagfix ?
You can find the ROM in the i9000-dev-section.
Two possibilities for enabling lagfix:
-there's an app in the app drawer called 'ext4'
- in CWM 'lagfix options'

One of the options there is not really a ROM but just a theme packaged with a ROM.

1- Disable lagfix if you are using it, backup EFS, etc.
2- Flash stock JVP via ODIN
3- Flash CFroot kernel via Odin
4- Flash GingerHoney via CWM
Thanks for your help, I'm all done now exeped for which is the best kerrnel to run and were to get it from.

I have a question about kernel. Now i'm running cf root kernel...btw i want to change bootanimation so i have to change kernel too. If i change kernel, do i lose root access? what about applications i have installed? Before flashing new kernel do i have to remove lagfix/ext4 or can i leave it?
Thanks for help

Changing of bootanimation does not require u to change ur kernel.Changing of kernel will not make u lose ur root access.Only changing of roms make u lose ur apps unless u install (no wipe) roms. Before changing kernel u need to disable lagfix before changin kernel to prevent problems appearing

Are you sure is not required? i've seen everywhere that only some kernels supports changing of bootanimation. How can i change bootanim w/o flashing new kernel?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Not all kernels support changing the bootanimation.

Try absolute system tools for great interface with previews and massive choice of boot animations
Is that an app available on market?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Anyway the problem is not where/how to place .zip file... The problem is that lot of kernels don't recognize .zip bootanimations, but just .qmg boots.

Everything else is stock as it comes.
Check out the I9000 themes and apps section for compatible themes.
Flashing instructions. You are required to be running a Gingerbread rom. You are required to do a factory wipe/reset before hand (failure to do so will result in a bootloop!!!) Yes Simply Anti-Noob script is in place but doing an intial non-wipe install is not optional if you want a working phone. The script will come into play when flashing themes and what have you.

For those not familiar with flashing GB roms or need an easy way there see the flashing instructions in my Simply Honey thread. There you will find an Odin friendly GB file. ALso search for the custom GB bootloaders or you will see rainbows...almost a year later and we still need to talk about rainbows.

No. This hasn't had any mods done to it yet. I'm sure everyone will be working on it in the next few days.
looks great, how does it run? and has anyone got any screenshots?

EB does GPS work or is it still broken because of Talon Kernel? Does this have the new Talon kernel Simone was talking about today? Is Simone working on a JVS 2.35 kernel now? Screenshots please. Thank you for releasing untouched stock JVS rom!
GPS still not working as far as i can tell. You can try the bullet kernels but obviously there will be trade offs. As soon as i have a kernel with working gps i of course will post it.

If flashed over 5.1 will it do a complete wipe?
Simply Honey 5.1 w/ 1.2 Bullet kernel. Badass Rom \m/
Is Simone working on inserting the GPS hack from Bullet kernel in to the Talon kernel? I am just glad that you guys are keeping the Vibrant current and alive since I find no reasons to upgrade to a dual core anytime soon.

Does this overwrite only system files or also your simply honey theme? I'd hate to lose themeing but seeing as this is not in the Simply Honey thread I thought I'd check..thanks EB.

This overwrites everything and is not themed at all. Pure stock.
Edit; sorry misspoke there. If on Simply Honey this will not wipe data. So simply users can give this a go for a day and come back to Simply with no headaches (theoretically anyway).

install any of the custom ROMs available for I9001, they do all have performance tweaks and better kernels included
i'd recommend flashing broodROM RC3 R2 or Simplistic Plus V3.
your phone won't lag anymore, for sure

Hi I'm new to the cappy forums and want to see what perks and such there are in the custom kernels, so I'm asking what custom kernel are you using ( if any) and why that one, is it because of features, stability, performance, etc.

I mainly use Nick0703's Unofficial Semaphore because of Step OC and In-Call Volume settings.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136767
For your Xylon 2.3.3. ROM use "sc" or "s_vc_c" version (with Voodoo Color).

What exactly is the difference between sc, vc , c, and s?
At My main phone's forums (Samsung infuse 4g) we don't have any custom kernels yet, one is in the works but that's it so flashing custom kernels is kinda new for me, so any details would be great. Also I am very thankful that you added in which type I should be using for my install ROM, I flashed devils kernel to try out, and thinking about trying the dual boot one, but I want to find out add much add possible about the advantages and disadvantages of the different kernels before choosing a daily driver.
Sent from my SGH-I897 using xda app-developers app
Normal version "c" is for most ROMs, version "sc" is for Slim based ROMs. Your Xylon 2.3.3 runs better with "sc" version.
"vc" stands for Voodoo Colour mod. Download Voodoo Sound app from the market to have VS/VC control.

based off of the post above yours i would say "C" cuz if im not mistaken PAC is primarily CM Based, but i would wait for actual confirmation before proceeding
I don't remember what kernel version PAC uses, but just install the ROM and look what kernel it comes with. PAC ROM is ported by the same dev - Nick0703. Most likely the default kernel is already his Unofficial Semaphore, therefore no kernel change needed. PM him to confirm.
If you come from a CM ROM the kernel will stay the same.

This is what the dev said
"You can use any version that you want. But if you're using the "s" version then you'll need to flash HugeMem libs also."
