Hey there,
Read several of the threads here and didnt find what I was lookin for so Ill post a new thread...
I have the Motorola Milestone 2.2.1 that I just rooted with SuperOneClick...worked great. However, I must be a little retarded as I cannot access any of the root files through any method I have tried. It simply pushes me to the memory card (8Gb) that I have installed.
Anyone have any tips or programs you can use or a methology for getting to the root drive, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks
The Toe
Root explorer is the best, but its a paid app.

Hey everyone,
I recently rooted my moto droid and was wondering now that I have done this can I drop 1.5 or any other OS on there that I choose? Also, if that is possible can someone post a link or tell me how to go about doing this. That being said, I was also wondering if there is a way to easily switch between android versions for development.
Thanks for your time and help,
Tommy
Here is a link to droidforums. It has links to most rooted Tom's for Droid.

You can also try other sites like alldroid.org, phandroid. The developers site which is "xda" and "sdx". There are many others so just search around they all have forums for different devices for this information. One of the most helpful I've found for noobs was unlocked.com. give it a try.

Look-up RomManager in the marketplace if you will be moving between versions alot, it handles these changes very well.
As to going to previous versions I can not say for sure. In theory yes but you will ether have to find a pre-made Droid rom or build it yourself.
Thanks!
Thank you both for the replies and information. I will continue my research and see what I can dig up. Hopefully I can find a 1.5 rom as building it myself is a little out of my ability right now.
Yes rom manager would be a good idea forgot to mention it. It works great for switching roms I just have a little problem with mount sdcard in clockworkmod recovery so mine will reboot after entering recovery and rom manager doesn't help some times but it seems to work great for most devices. My problem is I have to reformat sdcard because I came from Eris and I don't want to till I can get a computer to backup info on it.

I'm brand new and hoping to get some advice if possible. I was able to root the phone with no problem thanks to the One Click Root Program so thank you to the Unlockr and to the thread on here.
Now, I'm not sure what to do about a custom ROM. I honestly just want to get rid of the AT&T bloatware. Other than that I have no requirements. I don't really care other than that as long as I can get rid of things that I don't want.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

since you got root, to remove att junks: install root explorer from android market and uninstall each junk manually. for custom firmware search forum for clockwork recovery (rom manager from market) and read instruction on op to install. gudluck
This doesn't belong in development.

Download titanium backup which is free. It allows you to uninstall apps. Even system apps. Read and be careful. For the most part avoid all Google apps
Captivate
Cog 2.4
Thank you! I appreciate the help so far.
I apologize for posting in the wrong section. I thought I was in the right place but that was my mistake.
This thread can be deleted. I was able to root it and get Cognition on it with no trouble.
Thank you to everyone involved with the development and donations will follow soon.
Hello to all,
I recently tried to purchase the Root Explorer in hopes that it would help me remove a couple of files in order to install some themed markets. I am using a debit card and per my bank, they will not approve debit transaction that are over seas (Root Explorer is in the UK). My question is there a US equivalent that I can use. I need access to system/data/app and need to be able to remove Vending.apk. Please do not suggest ADB pushing as I am unable to get this to work to save my life. Any and all help is appreciated. I do not mind paying for it, just need a non-over seas alternative.
Thanks
You can try EStrong File Explorer it is free and when you get installed open it then go to menu>settings>root options check the box then select HiAPK then select mount now back out you shoulb be able to delete what you need to p

I WAS WRONG - it FC after being in for 10 seconds......AAAAAHHHHH.....is this really this damn hard or is it me....I can not get the themed market to work on the Tron theme, the PMD blue theme, dark horse v4, 4.5, or v5.....what am I doing wrong. I used Root Explorer - removed vending apk, removed com.android.apk, and removed com.android.vending-1, then I flash a themed market and most of the time the market is not even listed on the phone then - or if it does work, it is short lived and I get a FC....can anyone PLEASE give a step by step way of using Root Explorer to install the themed Market on any one of the themes previously listed....I will buy you a beer, coffee, happy meal, whatever!!!!

the12nv is that the themed market from theimpaler747? If it is try his thread he'll help you. Just a suggestion
And a good suggestion it is...the dark horse theme is KFunk and I followed what he had listed...I think...as for the Great Impaler...his nice neon themes are for HDPI phones and the hero is a MDPI phone (or vice versa)...I am determined to figure this out...damn themed market.....

Hi guys, I know you have tons of rules here and I tried my best to respect all of then by searching for a thread containing info on what in looking for but I couldn't find one. I rooted my phone a couple of years back and have been flashing various ROMs since. About a week ago however I flashed an unofficial android 4.3 ROM by CyanogenMod and after that once I discovered how buggy it was (as per the developer's warning) I decided to flash something else. However I couldn't access my recovery menu no matter what I tried and it looks like I've list root but I can't be sure of that. Ask the root apps aren't working and I got a toast from one of them saying you need root access to use this. Right now what I want is a way to either reroot or maybe there's a simpler way of solving this problem. If I could access the recover mode menu I could use the conventional way of rooting but right now I can't even di that. I'd really appreciate a solution if any of you could take the time out to give me one. Thanks so much and I really hope to hear from you.
I assume you flashed Chas' rom. If you could just read the op.... Chas gave everyone a soultion on a silver plate..
er.sorry

To be really honest I'm not sure whether it was his ROM or not since I got it from a YouTube instructional video. There was a direct download link. Do you think you could please do me a favor and point me in the right direction to the solution? Losing my mind here since it's so buggy

Go to Chas' Asylum thread in Android development, and use the search option. He gave the solution on 8th of August.

At me it worked.
And saw it posted in a 4.3 thread/post
You have to disable and re enable it in developers option in settings.
And then try root privilege using apps to check if it worked like type su in terminal

Hey guys! First of all, thanks to Geohot for this amazing and simple root method for the S5. I, as many of you, have been anxiously awaiting as I was getting fed up with all of the garbage AT&T loaded onto this phone. Secondly, I know there is another thread, but it made sense to me to have a new one for those who have achieved root.
Now that I'm rooted and have SuperSU installed and all is well, I'm looking in system/app via ES File Explorer. There are tons of things in here that I haven't even seen. What are safe to remove? Ex. Knox & associated files, and SecurityManagerService? I'm hoping that's the one that will finally get rid of that awful Security Policies notification. Anyone venture into this so far?
Thanks everyone!! :victory::good:

Thank you! (Thanks given). When you say freeze, are you referring to the Titanium Backup method?
I did search...I don't know how that one got away from me. Still new to the forums, go easy on me
