Hello,
I try to have help because now it's impossible to install 1Password Reader on my LG 2X anymore.
I have Froyo 2.2.2. My phone is not rooted, everything is official.
I moved the 1Password to SDCARD to gain memory in phone. And it was working fine. But then it was impossible to update anymore from Market and so I uninstalled it. And now it's impossible to install from scratch anymore!
What can I do in order I can install it again?
It seems this is a bug in Froyo/Market because I have same problem with others applications. I moved some of them back in phone memory from sdcard and update are fine again from Market for these applications.
But with 1Password I cannot because I uninstalled it.
Market download produces unsuccessfull installation message error.
Also it seems widgets are not enlisted for these applications on SDCARD.
Thanks for any help.
Hvae you tried instaing it from the online market from your computer???
https://market.android.com
Yes I tried, same problem.
Just downloaded it and pulled the APK (free app on the market), have uploaded it, try installing manually or by ADB
This is not a solution but finally a developer on AgileBits Forum gave me the solution.
Here is my reply:
Gene,
Thanks you very much you helped me a lot!
Actually in a LG Optimus 2X there are 2 SD CARDS.
One is internal (welded inside) and the other external (what you insert yourself).
So what you said about cleaning the Market data application is not sufficient, unfortunately.
What I did first is to unmount the external SD Card; stupid I am because 1Password don"t go on that SDCARD but on the internal one.
So I unmounted the card via Settings/SD & Memory and then unmount and I tried to install again the application and... BINGO!
Of course I just needed to remount the internal SDCARD because 1Password complaint and refuse to run without SDCard unmounted.
And that's all the story. A big thank you for your help.
Now I need to go and apply same trick for another software: Pulse.
A question. Android gives possibility to move software from phone memory to internal SD CARD. What about to move and run a software from external SD Card? Is it possible? Gingerbread do this or do we need to wait for IceCream Sandwich end of year (...or end of next year as LG is not so quick to post Gingerbread till now...) ?
And other question. Is there an official link on the web where memory stuff is well explained in an Android phone?

Dear guys,
I have a very strange problem with my tab. The internal memory seems to be “read only” after restart.
Ai have this problem after I stopped a transfer between my laptop and the tab (a movie). The problem is that o can’t format internal memory, to fix any fat leaks. I try to wipe all, flash with every know firmware from h__p://w w w.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-p1000.htm, format internal memory from CWM. Every format command works (finish format ok),
I can used the space on tab (even accessing from laptop) but when I restart my tablet I have the old content.
My question is what the f__k is happened and who to fix it.
Many thanks in advance!
Any one??!?!?!
Any one??!?!?!
I can't help with the solution but fwiw I have exactly the same problem. Samsung's only suggestion was to send it in for repair but I'm hesitant to do that because all my data is still on the device. I've tried hard resetting it but everything comes back as soon as I reboot. I can remove or install application but they reset as soon as I reboot the Tab. I cannot make any kind of permanent changes to it.
It's very frustrating to say the least. Anyone have any suggestions for what would cause this? Mine is still a stock device with only a few market applications.
I also have some issues with internal "SDCARD" and that is that i cannot move anything onto it using andy SGT filemanagement system or the very bad KIES software. At the moment my external SD is full but the internal SD has like 14GB free and i cannot balance the storage!?!
If I move programs to SD will it me moved to internal or external SD and can I choose the setting?
The only way I managemd to move stuff into internal SD is to download files like films and music via DLNA over WiFi - those files are saved correctly were I want it...
any advise would be appreciated...
So this means that i can't repair my tablet?
I can't find any solution for this problem. and i believe that we are not the only one with this problem.
I send it to service... they replaced main board...
but canceled my warranty reason: unauthorized software intervention - root access
So... watch out for this. factory reset you tablet or mobile (if possible... in my case was not possible)
Thank you for your support.
I have the same
I have the same exact problem ,, anyone can help plz ??
Hi:
I´ve just discovered this forum. Hello...
Just the same problem here and Samsung doesn´t repair my device. Can you give me any help?
Regards
This is exactly the same problem I've encountered. Moments AFTER rooting the thing.
Which leads me to believe any and all warranty question is well out of the window.
Has anyone encountered a solution as yet?
I appreciate the posts above are a few months old so I'm hoping some sort of resolution has been found!
Same problem here too
Internal mem seems fine and you can delete things, but after reboot nothing is remembered.
Gave it to service (non samsung/carrier), They said that the p1000 is known for having bad internal memory problems.
They partitioned my 8GB external sd card and installed a Chinese MIUI rom 4.0.4 that is supposed to support installation and running from external SD mem.
The problem is they didn't remove the internal memory - so all old apps still exist there and can' t be removed (it probably mounts the internal mem and thinks it can write to it - but in practice nothing is written). So when i go to market and try to DL an app it says no memory left on device because it tries to put it on the internal mem and not the external.
Also, after reboot all the account setup wizard screen settings are forgotten and you need to redefine everything again.
I saw a thread on XDA that explains you need to remove the internal SD mem physically (and explains how to do it) but i am a little afraid to do it...
Anyone else try this ?
Also strange you need to change the whole MB for a faulty memory, why can't the internal mem just be replaced ?
Hi, please keep all question/help related threads in the Q&A section only. Thank You.

It has an internal SD card. If you mount your own SD it is mounted under //mnt/sdcard/_ExternalSD. How can I install apps to the external SD?
App2SD won't work. It just copies apps from flash to internal SD. (so //mnt/sdcard/).
I've searched high and low for an answer. The closest I've come to someone sharing my problem is this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842053
But nobody has answered that thread...
Can't be done without mount point changes in the kernel.
Surely /data + /sdcard is sufficient for apps?
This is going to be like the 720p issue for the Nexus One, it will become the most hated question on this forum very quickly I feel...
My recommendation, which will give you more than you can use:
* apps to internal
* External app data to /sdcard
* Multimedia, roms, backups etc /ExternalSD
Some apps don't yet recognise /ExternalSD as a legitimate location so hassle the devs, it's standard Android (now).
Well, the main problem is the maps from CoPilot Live. The Europe maps can't be downloaded since they are too big. I would like to have them on the ExternalSD. This may be going beyond the scope of the original question, but since that's the main reason I'm asking it would be appreciated...
So, how can I make Copilot Live download to the External SD? Or can't you make some symlink so that the apps can be on External SD but Android thinks they're on internal ?

The easiest way around this probably is to contact the app dev and ask him to implement a way users can select where to grab those files from.
I wonder how this issue was resolved with the Galaxy S, didn't that one have an internal SD too?

Yes, the above answer is correct. It's not just the easiest way, it's the best way.
I realise it's a practical problem for you but via the dev is the only way really. They should be quicker (especially for paid apps!) because this "issue" (internal SD) has been around since what, May last year...
Until we get a custom kernel it can't be solved (except via dev) and even with a custom kernel that re-mapped everything I'd be very hesitant to do this, it will break standard stuff I'm sure.

I'm by no means an expert with Android, but I've been using UNIX since working at Bell Labs in the mid-70s and I've used the link command to "fool" many a UNIX app. As it happens, you could use the same command "ln" to do the same. Just create a directory on ExternalSD and ln that one into the directory tree at the desired "mount" point. For CoPilot, that would probably be /SD/copilot/EU, SA, NA, etc. It should work fine since CoPilot almost certainly cannot "see through" this link - that, while possible, would be a true violation of standards.
I've done something similar with Android to put application cache space in one place on the SD mount-point. See here -> androidcommunity dot com/forums/f4/updated-move-caches-to-sd-card-11167 for details (I haven't done enough posts to be able to post a link). Just use a variation on this method to put the copilot maps where you have space. This worked for every app I tried it with.
That's just my opinion... I could be wrong,
A
Is there a solution for this issue by now?
I found a application Move2SD Enabler (root only) but I guess is work only for Froyo. I whant to install on my Galaxy S Plus ( i9001) but it's not compatible with device.
On my galaxy S Plus all aps in moved on internal sd card ( //mnt/sdcard ) not on my external sd card .
one of the most discussed topics on this phone is, everyone wants it!

I did install GL to SD, and it is working for me with GAMELOFT games, it is working perfectly, but how can I use this app with any other application and game that I install and it is located on internal SD card?
Try this app. Can be used for any application - just move the bigger folders to your external SD with Directory Bind:

GTP1000 Rooted I'm using Install Manager, Android Assistant, Quick application Manager and Root explorer to shift all my application from the phone to the SD card unfortunately I figured out that I have only 200 MB remaining in my phone memory ! Only 4 programs installed on there as per of the previouse listed applications and the remaining on the SD card as it shows I start searching to figure out the problem using root explorer I found the root
Phone Memory/mnt/asec/secure/asec - 990 MB so I tried to move it to the SD card but once moved it will return back again to the same path!! Even if I tried to delete it will remain the same! also I found another root phone/mnt/asec -670 MB which has almost the same applications by all means using root explorer I cut& paste the first root to the SD card and reboot then only the installed programs in phone works and the other application icons disappeared I was shocked cause even trying to backup my mistake was a hectic work, by all means its again as it was and still facing the same problem any help
Solution
After fed up of finding any solution I start clear all the programs data manually at least to preserve some space and while clearing my phone explorer application data I shocked it was loaded with 1.53 GB!!!!! Don’t know where it came from!!! But finally my sole been relieved thanks for all the assistant been given by every one answered my query
Ok a few issues here....
1) You should be asking this in the Q&A forum, not the Dev forum, it has nothing to do with development
2) You don't need four third party apps to move your apps to sdcard. Apps2SD is a function of the android system. You can simply go into Settings->Manage Apps and then go into whatever app you want to move and press the button that says "Move to SD Card"
3) You really shouldn't be rooting around your phone deleting or moving stuff without a thorough understanding of Linux and Android.../mnt/asec/secure/asec is a symlink to .android_secure on your sdcard. Those files were not actually on your internal memory, just links to files on your sdcard.
4) Android will manage your internal memory as necessary...you really don't need to be worried about having only 200mb free. Once you run out it will start installing apps to your sdcard on its own.
At this point I think you're pretty fubar and will have to reinstall the apps then move them to SD if you so choose.
Dear thanks a lot for you respond also thanks to direct me to the proper channel to post my inquiry in, also thanks a lot for the advices and for the explanation but one more concern killing me, why once trying to install new application an red SD card icons appears on the tab upper left corner with memory full window listing that internal device memory is nearly full delete/uninstall some applications or data and try again! Any help
Internal Memory full
You must have a ton of data on your internal SD and that is why the icon appeared. Also, some apps cannot be moved to the external SD. I would go into your applications and see what is vital and what you can delete. Keep the internal SD as light as possible. External SD's can be expanded to 32 gbs (i have one and it works well)..so use that for all your data and for moveable apps. Remember to check which apps you can move and which must stay on the Internal SD.
Hello All,
Suddenly have the “Couldn’t install on USB storage or SD card” problem. Quite a bit of information on the net on how to solve it, but it isnt doing it for this tablet.
I can not unmount the sdcard prior to installing/updating apps, theres simply no option for that in the setting->storage.
Second solution is to delete a file called "smdl2tmp1.asec" from one of two paths, but that file is not there.
I attached the tablet to the PC, but just see the "sdcard", not the internal memory.
I have CM10, from this forum.
Hope anyone can help me... Slowly my apps are being killed of by this problem, swiftkey and officesuite pro tried to update today, and can not even be opened anymore since...
Thanks,
Jeroen
Not sure what tab you have, but dies it have an external sd card? Internal is probably the same as sd card. It is on the i957.
God promised men that he'd put beautiful women in all corners of the world. Then he laughed and laughed and made the world round
I have the samsung 8.9 wifi tab. No external sdcard I can take out, just one that shows up as sdcard under /mnt/.
The tab is not dying on me, justn some apps show mthe error on updating them. Then afterwards those apps are not just updated, they're gone completely. I tried deleteing all dirs that I could find that seems associated with them, but the error still exists, I still get that same error on installing the app.
Thanks for replying, hope this clears up my poor description of the problem
OK, I did a full wipe and flashed CM10 and gapps, but the problem still exist. Installing apps gives me this problem... Anyone an idea?
Maybe the internal sdcard or memory is simply broke? But if so, why would the system install without problems?
Aww, my loved tab 8.9....

for whoever this is going to be useful, it turned out to be a kernel issue. Some developer confirmed it for me. so I fixed it in the end by installing a stock rom, the problem kept returning with non stock Roms...
Hi All,
I have an LG L90 Device with a full Internal Memory. It has gotten to a point where I have to delete majority of my apps to get all my things syncing, but this is really becoming annoying to deal with now.
I do have a lot of apps (I guess 35+), but I never had an issue with Internal Memory becoming full in the past. I also have a 32 GB SD Card where I am saving all photos, videos, and music (though, I rely solely on Spotify now).
I had tried the Link2SD Method, but it isn't as effective for me, as the linked apps somehow stop responding and they just disappear on my phone, prompting me to reinstall.
I really want to fix this, as I love this phone, but just hate the fact that Lollipop will not let me automatically install all apps to the SD Card, and my Internal Memory is just full, restricting me from doing many things I would like to do with the phone.
I would love help here to fix these issues.
Hmm, Bump? Would love any possible help on fixing this issue...
Another thing I also wanted to bring up is that when I do link apps to my external SD card via LINK2SD those apps somehow become unlinked, I assume when the app updates they automatically go back to the internal memory? Not entirely sure...
me too
I think a lot of people have this issue with a "system data" checked on config =>storage, i just have install another time my lollipop 5.0.2, and right after install i checked and this system data was about 4,21 GB, i would be very happy if someone knows a way to delete, or give a way to make this ocupy less room.already did wipe cache, and nothing changed. Maybe flash a tiny rom that have all functions working on the phone, just to mention, already tried some, but always have to do an emergency flash with stock rom again. As my brother above, we waiting for some advice and tutorials !
Cheers all !

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I have tried identical apps such as Clean Master, and it just cleans up small megabits of junk files, I am trying to find a way to at least free up a gigabyte of storage which for some complex reason seems like a really daunting task...
What have you done recently and when did you notice internal storage is full? Also what rom?
For me when I installed a custom rom for the first time, I believe that I had something extra in /cache/backup/ that caused the full storage. I believe it was a twrp backup.
hi all..anyone has the same problem??? i'm so angry, this phone is always full!!! and link2sd doesn't work
Link2SD works if you follow the instructions and have a partition on external SD formatted as ext4 (fat32 won't work to move apps). Or go to Marshmallow and use adopted storage. In any case make sure you got a reliable SD and at least Class10 speed.

Yes, it's possible. I'm using it now with RR Marshmallow 6.0 1, TWRP 3.0.0 DarkBlue, Open Gapps and a 16GB Class10 SanDisk uSD.

WOW.. is there a guide? thanks
Simply insert the uSD and go to Storage and USB, tap the 3 dots menu and format it to use as internal storage. It will format the card and move all data from /sdcard to it and movable apps to it if you choose to. You won't access internal memory anymore.
Make sure you use a fast and reliable card. Also check the pros and cons first.

only a question: why You won't access internal memory anymore. ?
by file manager with root it will be impossibile to view internal memory? only sdcard ll be accessible?
Internal memory will be used to apps and apps data only, no user accessible files or folders. Of course you can use a file manager with root access to browse the files/folders, but all user files will be on uSD (it will become /sdcard).
PS: as I said, Marshmallow will format your uSD, so copy any file you may need first.
Oook thanks
all it works!!! now my girlfriend's phone has enough memory!!!! great thanks a lot!
