Hi to everyone. I would be glad if someone could give me some hints about the firmware upgrading on samsung galaxy s via Odin. I jist bought this device and then discovered that is branded by vodafone. I'd like to upgrade it to stock froyo...are there particular informations i have to save or any particular procedure i have to follow? The phone is rooted and i have done a backup with titanium.
Thanks

Hi All,
I an currently running a rooted version of 2.1. The build number is ECLAIR.XWJG1.MCR-r2.
The baseband version is I9000XXJG1.
I would like to upgrade to the official 2.2 Euro rom.
What do I need to do? I am concerned that if I just upgrade, I will brick it.
Anyone? Help
Um...use KIES.

Click to collapse
It's a rooted version of the Modaco custom rom.
I am guessing that I will encounter problems if I try to use Kies. I am in Ireland so the UK firmwares would apply to me.
Hi all!
Is it possible to install official ROM with CWM ? Now i need to flash my SGS to XXJPU but, odin doesn't work with this ROM and flash with heimdall block at logo galaxy S GT i9000.v
Thanks. Sorry for my bad english.
Don't think so. They are not in the same format.

JPU is from samsung but it's not an official release. You should be able to flash it using odin. Check the general threads for the JPU discussion.
Odin give me runtime error with this rom. All other roms working fine with odin. I ve tried vr 2008 and 2010 but no success.

Hello i want to Flash back to an Rom that can be upgraded trough Kies in Germany.
E.g.: Eclair 2.1
So that Kies identify it and say: Oh there is an newer Firmware because your OFFICIAL Firmware is old lets upgrade it.
So were on Samfirmware.com do i get the official german Eclair or Froyo that i can upgrade at the end to Gingerbread trough Kies?
I just downloaded some Eclair 2.1 from samfirmware.com but Odin stopps always at Setupconnections......
Pls i need your help
Greetings from Germany
Why not just flash an ezbase rom with odin, froyo or gingerbread, root included in both

Checking it out now!
If you want to go to the stock, go to the thread by ramad mentionned above and flash UGKG3, it's the latest and greatest stock bell firmware, as well as being rooted and deodexed. I'm running it now, works great.

Ok ill take a look at that too. How long have you been running that on your phone? Will I be able to update my phone in the future via kies if I wanted to?

You can update using kies, it's detected and read by the kies client. I've been running it for a few weeks, never a single problem. It has busybox 1.19 installed in the bin folder, but you can just install an older one to sbin or xbin if you really need to. I really recommend it, I had a lot of trouble trying to root the stock 2.2.3 on my own.
