Pls advice if above is the right link, and if i can safely go ahead and flash the stock rom
Why double posting?
I've answered in the other thread.
Please ask the moderators to merge those threads, there's absolutely no need in both of them.

Hi this is probably a really stupid question but I am new and don't really know what I'm doing lol. I was wondering if there was an easy way to upgrade my sprint hero to 2.2. Google offers the official stock android but I don't know how to install it and I can't figure out the search here. Can someone lead me in the right direction? Maybe link to the right thread? Thanks for the help

Here is a good place to start for general questions and answers:

One thing is for sure your going to have to root your phone before you can do anything so here's the rooting guide for 2.1:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694572
The official source code for 2.2 doesn't just install on our phone everything has to be packaged in a rom and if its not supported by htc we have to do it ourselves so if you look around in the forums you'll find a lot of good 2.1 custom roms and darchstar built a 2.2 froyo build from the ground up. Good luck.
What is darchstar's 2.2 rom called
Just wanted to double check, newbie here but willing to learn. You have to get to your phone into a root statues, at which point your going to flash a new rom onto it with either 2.1 or 2.2?

that is correct
its not too hard once you finally get set-up
i suggest trying out a basic rom without all the bells and whistles first
then once you realize you can load a rom and you mess with it for a bit, try flashing a new kernal, try using overclock, try out a new launcher even *adw or helix.....*, then if you're still feeling good you can try jit
by then you should understand a bit more.
Hi I just got my Samsung Captivate and have already rooted it. I want to add a ROM to it (Most likely Phoenix 2.2.1)
I was wondering, do I need Froyo 2.2 to use this ROM, or will the ROM install that for me? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm honestly confused by the whole thing
Thanks for your help
The rom gives you 2.2.1. Make sure you read, read, read
I did read but its a very confusing thread ^_^
Thank you for your help though!
I talking about everything in general. Read. God luck

There are some sticky threads here, some with videos too, about how to flash a ROM and so on things. Go through them and they'll give u all the info u want.
just got a replacement captivate from AT&T and was running a custom rom on my old one... trying to go to cognition 4 but everytime I use rom manager to try to install it signature verification fails. im rooted and have odin'ed it... what else can I try here???
its running the stock 2.2 that AT&T has out now... my previous rom flash (old phone) was starting from pre-2.2 and was flawless.
thanks!
Wrong section, but im sure you can use dgs 1-click gb package.
^^ U better go to the General section a do some research before u get lit up like a 4th of July firework...
But seriously look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1052991 This should help.
Warning.... U may really get "flamed" for not searching before posting, especially when the topic is "stickied" already.
Please search before opening a new thread. This has been talked about hundreds of times.

I am running Overcome Kratos and would like to go back to Froyo, specifically the European rom that I first flashed to enable phone features on my AT&T galaxy tab. Can I just go through the same process i went through the first time I flashed from stock or do I have to do something special because im running 2.3 now? I dont want to run into bootloader trouble.
Thanks
Firstly, please dont use ridiculous titles like "Help please" that does not describe your topic in any way to people who are browsing pages or using search and searching topic titles. Titles are supposed to be descriptive of topic, Its in the rules and to be honest its should be just plain common sense.
To answer your question, Just follow the guide linked to froyo overcome topic. All you need to do is use the safe-restock package and then flash rom.

why do u wanna go back to froyo just flash safestock gb5 in overcomes site and youll be fine
I am tring to go back because I am having compatibility issues with some apps and games in Gingerbread.
Isn't GB5 safestock a gingerbread rom? Will it be safe to flash the Russian Froyo rom over GB5 safestock?
