spare parts for gingerbread roms? - Thunderbolt Themes and Apps

spare parts battery history causes a FC on the gingerbread leak, at least in droidtheory. I found another app (battery left widget) that does the same function and when i go through that i get a prompt "sorry, looks like you version of android doesn't support battery history information"
anyone know another method to get similar functionality? I really just want to check partial wake usage. my phone was "awake" all night and dropped from 100% to 20% in 4 hours of doing nothing...thanks

Brightness is set to dim. manually increased, using cyanogen notification bar power widgets, if needed (which isnt very often). music playing for about 2 hours a day as well
Seems to be better to put it on Google form?
Both easier to input and sort out and draw a chart.
What is the objective of the survey? Are you trying to perform data mining on the survey result to derive which pattern is more battery friendly or badly?
I think the battery usage statistics should be included as well? (both the % and time)

You're right on that. I'll try to make a survey with stats at the end. And yes, i'm data mining or struggling to find the cause or more of them, to see, which part of the phone is also the reason of huge battery problem we're having. Its not that we have a million more choices... some also reported bad battery life on 2.1 but i'm not sure this is software related then.. give me a day or so to make it happen then

good call on setting this up.
form submitted.
you should probably add the question "battery percentage remaining?" after the time since unplugged bit so that we have a more accurate idea of how much use people are actually getting from one full charge.

I want to say something about battery draining of my milestone.
I recharge it until morning then go to work.At 12AM the battery is at 15%.Hmmm.. so i did some research..i updated to Cronos 1.5 ROM and then i did something unuasual.
I rebooted the phone when the battery was at 15% level. When it restarted the battery had 80% power and it lasted till night. Do you have any explanation?

Hm, maybe there's something about it we have in common.
I usually went to bed with 80% of battery. When I wake up, its at 30%. Now, if I start charging it, the battery charging indicator shows as if it would charge it from 80% to 100%.

thank you! This dodged me till now. Had the same experience with battery as some of the guys here.
Okey done!
Hi all,
Form was submitted 22 times until now. There are some amazing stats included with some, that suffered the same problem as I did.
okorn is the winner at the moment, with 15% to go, his phone lasting 40+ hours on Telus Lite (Eclair!), where the longest on Froyo would be more than that (petyo.tsanov) running Cyanogen Mod for 20hours and still having 60% of his battery.
Its too early for any conclusions, but,.. just for info, most of us/you who filled the form did have some kind of sleep policy on (data/2g-3g-wifi).
I'll try to show you all results by the end of the week with all info
ps: Its still not too late to submit your info about Battery drainage at http://bit.ly/motodrain
Thank you!
Form sent.. have a good work!!

GPS test
hiya ! ..
i did a GPS test on a hike last saturday ... with offline maps and oruxmaps set to
record position every 2 minutes ... phone was in flight mode, killed all apps on
startup.
at the end of my hike (approx 10.5 hours), the battery was at 60% and 3818 mV
with time since boot - 10 hours 49 minutes.
this was on stock 2.1-update1 ... i'll be doing a similar hike this weekend ... will
use the G.O.T leak + cyanogen mod beta 0.04-10.11.20 ... shall post results
once done !
cheers !

perfect test! do post results!
Hi all. I just finished with my project about battery draining. I've made an article about it, including results.
Check it at- http://bit.ly/milestonebattery (google doc, no sign in required)
Speechless.. you did an optimum work!!!
Hoping it will improve my MIlestone life!!!
Another thing I tried today: I tried to FULLY discharge the battery, and then charging again.
Turned on in the morning from a full charge, my MS fastly went to 50% for lunch time, after middle usage. Then, at 30% this afternoon, I decided to discharge it viewing YouTube with maximum luminosity on display.
After few minutes, 20%, then 15%, 10 and 5. In short words, it decreased from 30 to 5 in 12 minutes.
And then, the surprise: the Stone played YouTube video in WiFi streaming for over 40 minutes, staying at 5% and red led blinking continuosly! So I ask, maybe a big problem of Milestone battery life is just an incorrect reading of the battery level?
Can you try, just to see if it is my only case, or it is a common case?
and thanks again for your work!!!

[Q] Apex 5.2 Rapid Battery Death

Over the past few weeks, I've been running Apex 5.2. I love it. The phone is faster than ever and my test show a 129% increase in battery life. That's why this afternoon's events took me off guard.
After sending a series of text messages, I left my phone on my desk for 39 minutes, silenced. The batter registered 43% when I put it down. When I returned, the battery had dropped to 6% and the phone had jumped from the norm of 89 degrees F to 116. I checked the apps to see what was running;
gTabSiMiClock
ChompSMS Notifications/Backlight single, three second power-up/Basic, single vibration)
Tag Launcher 2.2
Facebook (Notifications/No backlight/No vibrations)
Gmail (No notifications/No backlight/No vibrations)
This is the first time this has happened. I doubt these apps have the power to suck down that much battery life in that amount of time, as I have been using most of them on a daily basis. The only change I have made is the background (Image/not live).
Am I wrong, or should I be looking for other problems elsewhere?
Well I can't tell you exactly what the problem is, but I have had instances where my battery heated up a lot. Usually a reboot will keep it under control. That is a very alarming battery drain, though.
Have you checked for the 50% battery thing?

50% battery thing???
@OP not sure what happened buddy as this is a instance which cannot even be reproduced, coz as u said battery was better all the time barring this instance. However to get maximum support u may want to report all ur problems in the ROM thread..
The 50% time without signal. From multiple articles on xda, it's not rom related, it's an android problem.

Do these programs drain my battery

Though I know gb roms don't have such a great battery life it seems as if my battery is draining faster than it should despite changing to different roms, calibration, changing batterries and deleting apps or widgets . (Currently gamrez rom which has been said to have quite a good battery ) .my battery drain is about 10 percent an hour with a mild to idle use. it's been like that for my old battery and even for a new 1800mah. I suspect there might be a program respobsible for this.
Since these programs dont appear under battery usage, yet are considered services I think the culprit is one of them.it might be that one of them is preventing the phone from going to deep sleep so the battery drains when idle.
My running programs are:
Go launcher
Go keyboard
RocketDial pro
3G watchdog (sync every 15 minutes)
Call meter 3g
Adaway
Auto rotate
Sanity (only for auto handsfree)
Bussiness calander free
(before anyone blames it on these three, it happenend even when they've been removed )
Viber
Whatsapp
skype (service autorun disabled and usually not logged in)
No stock email
Also as far as widgets are concerned I have a widget for callmeter usage. 3g watchdog and bussiness calendar agenda. and sync for google stuff , whatsapo and viber.
I know it's a lot of stuff, but I've been tweaking and picking these programs since I really need their functionality.
Under battery usage most of it goes to display (about 50%)
People report better battery under heavier usage so something most be wrong.
Didn't have time or nerve to switch to ics but I'm affraid it a program so it won't make a difference

There are many system monitor apps available on market.. install one of them and try to find out what is draining your battery.. sometimes it turns out to be the least expected app/ service..
Hi,
install "Quick system info pro". In the info tab, tap "battery", then "battery history" and you'll have all the info you need.
Pierre.
Thnx, I've install badass battery monitor in hope to put an end to this mystery. Still, I was hopnig someone could rake a look at the list i published and maybe shed some light if anything pops out.
I'll keep waiting for more replies.

Go keyboard
I've just installed go keyboard and typed 'top -m 5' to see top cpu users. go keyboard was in first place. After one hour phone idle, battery has been drained by 5% Maybe it's just my cfg problem. But.. that's just an observation.
This is just an idea and I might be totally wrong.
But doesn't it take like 10min for a phone to go to deep sleep?
So if you got am app syncing every 15min you get out of every 15 min 5 min of deep sleep.
It's to say you would normally have 50 min of deep sleep in an hour whereas you would have like 15 min.
And you could check the percentage of how much battery an app uses through the battery info in the settings and to check if your phone goes into deep sleep you can instal the app CPU spy.

Xperia t JB Battery Life

Hi. I've updated my xperia t to Sony's official JB 4.1.2 9.1.A.0.489 firm.
I'm noticing that the battery life is no as good as expected. If I charge it up to 100%, and leave it locked all night, in the morning it has 80% , sometimes 75%. Some days, i can let it locked for 6 hours, and it's still in 100% ( strange at all). Of you look at the screenshots, it looks like it's always awake!
I've also tried with Battery Guru app, but I feel like it wastes more than it saves.
A friend has a Samsung galaxy ace ( i know, i cannot compare) and the battery literally doesn't go down if he doesn't use it.
Thank's guys.
P.S: Any idea about 9.1.A.1.138 firm? Changelog? availability?
Odp: Xperia t JB Battery Life
Battery problem is already known for this .489 FW. It's just a very first public release of JB, don't expect it will be completely bug-free. We just have to wait for the next releases with fixed this and that so the battery life would be correct again.
I have the same problems like you but I got used to them. For the first few days I was really pissed off and thought about flashing back ICS .195 (which had incredible battery life) but number of the advantages of having JB on my phone was the main factor of not going back to ICS.
That happened to me also lost more than 15% during sleep.
I disabled google search, facebook, android wakeup, etc and turned off auto sync and i lost 1.3% per hour.
In ics, i'm losing less than 1% per hour. So this is pretty decent to me. I'm still getting 3 hours of screen time.

How?

You say that yoy've disabled android wakeup.. how do i do it??? , also in better battery stats, I see Alarm Manager and another alarmManager ( this second apparently from Sony) , with 811 and 2686 YES, 2686 wakeups each. Any idea? what are they about?

The Sony Alarm is Fast Dormancy
The other one is most likely the combined total of a number of apps - to see them you need to be rooted, then you can access "Alarms" from the dropdown menu.
How do I use:
adb shell dumpsys alarm > AlarmDump.txt
What app..cant find anywhere how to do this?
I have a V but generally same things apply.
I think there are simply too many items switched on that would not allow the phone to fall into deep sleep.
Also, a battery usage of 1.3 % / h when idle would hint to that.
I have around 3000 wakelocks, too, but under normal day usage and not during sleep. During sleep there a few only, wakelock time over night is 0 %, and the phone uses close to no battery. Straight segment is the night time usage.
Compare with the pic from above, that phone was used lesser than mine.

[Q] Still chasing battery drain: Is it possible FingerPrint Unlock is part of it?

So having come from Verizon's Note 4 and averaging up to 24hrs on battery running pretty much the same setup as I do now on my T-Mobile Note 4 minus the "Root" & "Custom Rom" abilities. Otherwise, same apps, accounts, usage pattern, ect...
I am on an ongoing battle still after several complete wipes, different Roms including just running STOCK ANK4 and trying to figure out what is going on. Phone defect? Battery defect?
Anyhow, Ever since changing over to both the T-Mobile Note 4 & their service, my experience has been a rather miserable 14 to 18hrs MAX battery life and going from 4hrs screen on time to around 2 1/2 w/ T-Mobile.
Which now leads me yet to wonder something else. I believe I started using the "FingerPrint" security feature since switching to T-Mobile to unlock the device. Has anyone experienced a similar "Battery longevity" issue using said feature before I continue troubleshooting and chasing my own tail on this? Of course I will eventually test this theory anyhow, but figured I would throw it out there.
Also, Open to any suggestions.
Just some things I have already done along with the above mentioned:
- Utilized the App "Greenify" & donation full version to greenify many apps including "Google Play Services".
- Set up Profiles which I toggle via "PhoneWeaver" to turn off data when on Wi-Fi which consists of 90% of my day as I'm Wi-Fi connected both at home and work.
- Of course always turn off that option within Wi-Fi settings to untick "Always Scan".
- Went into "Google" app settings and turned off about everything I can find in there and it's now rather complex settings.
- Turned off most syncing of my 2 "Google" accounts to only one having anything other than Email Sync active such as the Calendar, Contacts, and Apps Sync. - Again, my 1 Google Account I only have set to sync Email and nothing else.
Sure I forgot some things I've tried but again, I am open to any/all suggestions. I admit, I bought my T-Mobile via Swappa. All seemed well as per their checklist of the obvious things to check regarding the phone's operation. Kind of stuck here now and wondering if my device is simply defective and/or the battery.
Also of note: Android System is always by far the largest contributor to my battery drain and exceeds even Screen-On time by around 10%. But then again, don't really know if that means anything or not since even before switching carriers and the transition from "JellyBean" to "KitKat" on my previous S4, Android System became a forever battery hog for me.
Just never had a top end device such as this in past years barely get me through a complete day: Work & Home time. I don't consider myself a heavy user. Barely even "Moderate" many days as I mainly text during my lunch break, otherwise phone is pretty much idle. And say 2 phone calls of aprox 20 min.s each during commute time. Yea, something just isn't right. :crying:
I have noticed 3 things that were hurting battery bad.
1.) Use the Google play services with the 030 extension. I get way better battery life on it 5% to 10% increase in battery life. Link below:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ices-7-0-99-1809214-030-android-apk-download/
2.) If you are not using maps or other location services turn your location off. Literally a 20%+ increase in battery from this alone.
3.) Toggle your NFC. Something in Android 4.4.4 sometimes causes your NFC to wake lock. If you turn it on then turn it off one time it normally fixes is.
I attached my battery stats below.
It with about 2 hours of screen on time.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions! I just checked and I am currently running Google Play Services V 7.0.97 (1791429-030).
A couple things I have done meanwhile since my OP which have had "some" noticeable positive effects on my battery duration, yet still no where near what you have posted are:
Within "Google Settings" app:
- Account History ( I have "turned off or rather paused" ALL the Activity/Info/History settings here - All 5)
Regarding my 2nd, basically "Junk mail" Gmail Account:
- Now have ALL "Sync" turned off within, including the syncing of email, which I now simply check manually to update.
Greenify:
- Revisited, and added a bunch more apps and pretty much "Greenified" ALL Samsung related entries/services/ect...
So far I have increased to achieving up to about 3 1/2 hrs Screen time (Gained 1 hr) & a few more hours of real time battery longevity as I can now achieve close to 20hrs before needing charge.
Still feel I have some troubleshooting to go. Oh, I actually have the NFC Service "Greenified" to. So far haven't really noticed a problem with "Deep Sleep" either according to CPU SPY pro.
Yep, Have always had the Location Service to OFF, not even using the so called "Battery saving" selection with it. Such a pity to have to cripple such things but it's a trade off I guess in achieving a full day's battery vs.s using the features with this phone for some reason more-so than past devices it seems. At least in my case. :silly:
