V10C open source code for P990 - LG Optimus 2x

Just found this over at Modaco, I didn't find it originally but I thought it might help some Devs in here
http://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource.jsp
Might help towards OC/UV and EXT4 support with new kernel
Personally I wouldn't know what to look for so it could be that this has been out a while and I just don't know it

http://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource-detail.jsp

Modaco Paul says that is same kernel code renamed of the previous version...

Thank you very much.

Official Gingerbread is released and rooted.

Hi everyone.
I'm very happy to let you know this good news.
Today, LG mobile released GB for su660 (o2x korean model)
and rooted with nvflash & cwm.
This is with froyo kernel
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
Of course it is, everyone knew that's what it would have.
Seems that a new baseband is included
I hope I will support 1080p video shooting directly in what's app. I hope so. We will see

How is it? Can you give us a first impression?
latest news says..gingerbread official update to be released early october
please post a nandroid backup :-D of your rom
So this is not official...?
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
^ hmm yes it is thats why he write
"Official Gingerbread is released and rooted"
This thread is about GB fro SU660 (The Korean model). NOT P990 aka Optimus 2X !!!

Okey.
You know su660 is base model of p990 (AKA Optimus2X in Korea)
There are little differences between those. (touch key, dmb)
and I guess sources of those are same.
Kernel version is same with froyo, but it is new build.
Wi-fi and 3G are faster. Launcher is softly.
Unfortunately or not, we can use froyo's OC/UV kernel.
Oh, our forum(in Korea) have froyo's Oc/Uv kernel for su660.
and we are testing froyo OC kernel+stock GB rom. (Maybe, it is good.)
PS: Pardon for my poor English.

even though they are similar, you MUST NOT flash a SU660 ROM to a P990 device. If you're lucky, it will barely work, but more likely, it won't work at all. "Little differences" have huge impact when it comes to ROMs for devices.
Best example is the G2x, which is, apart from that pseudo 4G, the same devices as the p990, even more alike than the SU660. But a small change in the partition layout makes your device a NVFlash-restore-only case if you attempt to flash the G2x Firmware to an O2x.
So pretty pretty please, don't confuse people in these forums that flashing that SU660 ROM is safe, it is not, and if you can't wait for gingerbread, you should try Paul's Gr alpha instead.

Oh, I'm so sorry. there are some misunderstanding. My device is su660.
and we (su660 user in korea) are using Cm7 nightly and miui rom for p990
with little modified kernel (cause touch key) and lib.
and the reason that I write this thread, I let you know GB for p990 is nearly.
Pardon for my poor english and don't misunderstand plz.
My phone is Su660 too, but i don't understand korean so no rooting so far.

List of kernels

Im using a gingerbread v20e rom right now and on stock kernel my boot time is about 1 min max, iv recently installed neoblaze and my boot time is over 4 mins.
Can someone give me a list of kernels that will work with my rom so i can find the best one? the search function is pretty useless because without knowing the name of the kernel ill never find it.
Rom: [[ROM] New Rom 2.3.4 GB v20E (24-08-11)

Taken directly from the {Start here} Thread in the dev section. Not sure which of them that will work on v20e. But surely some of them wouldn't mind that you test and maybe report back your experience in each thread.
Cant really think about any other kernels right now ether for that matter.

hmm so just neoblaze and swiftextreme, neoblaze seems to take forever too boot when i have that on my phone but swiftextreme is OC to 1.2ghz on boot...dont like that. Not much to pick from.
Edit that's a rom not the kernel...its impossible to find anything in this forum wheres the thread for the swiftextreme kernel only.
Hmm he have 4 stand alone kernel links but only seems to be oc kernels 2 are 1,2Ghz and the other 2 are 1,4Ghz.
They are at the bottom of each rom ver. Right bellow the rom download link.
Yeah noticed soon after posting they didn't work had to restore a backup.
Seems only neoblaze works with this rom but it causes some unwanted loooooong startups so looks likebill have to stick with the stock kernel till i get a response on that issue.

Kernels and loop support and knzo kernel

i wanted to post this to the NovaROM thread, but i can't cause i'm a newb. #1- does novaROM have the knzo kernel or does it have to be installed separately? #2 is the knzo kernel only for CM7? (maybe that should be #1!). are there any kernels for OB that support loop to enable installing the debian port?
peas,
k
(yes, i searched for days already for these answers, so don't bother flaming me)
#1: of course the first. It's included but not CM7 kernel for 2.3.5, it¡s Quasar kernel for Froyo.
#2: knzo's CM7 kernel is at the moment only for CM7, and Quasar kernel is for stock Froyo ROMs, because Nova already has it.
No idea with the last.
Regards.
i think that no matter we are newb, we should post all the questions on GENERAL thread, not the development thread which is the pool of tutorial.

well, if a question is specific to novaROM, then i would post it there if i could. that's kinda the point, no? anyway, CM7SK6 supports loop in the kernel, in case anyone else would benefit from this info.

Request tun.ko for Lg Optimus 2X v20l

Hi everyone,
I need tun/tap driver to get openvpn working. I know some kernel/rom have that, like CM, neoblaze, djdroid etc. But I want to keep stock kernel with stock rom because I have tried every roms and the stock one satisfies me the best! But it only lacks tun driver !
Can somebody compile a tun.ko file working with the stock rom and kernel? Thank you.
I've tried and I don't think it's possible. tun.ko requires the kernel to export the symbol "outer_cache" which it does not. (only tegra kernel seems to be missing this as default...). It's an easy fix, but to use the generated module you would have to replace the kernel as well (to one that exports the required symbol)
Thank you for you answer.
I have tried to do that too and wasted 2 hours. I wonder if I do it right. I downloaded not the aosp kernel but the v20l kernel source from http://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource-detail.jsp?detailCustomerModelCode=LGP990. I used this tutorial http://stevechui.blogspot.com/2011/10/compiling-kernel-modules-tunko-for.html. But the Lg sources doesn't include the tegra folder.
ergoen, you seem to say that you managed to create a tun.ko file with a slightly modified stock kernel ? That would be what I search for.
just flash spica HP kernel SR2 and if you want flash the PP7. it does support tun.ko and cifs.ko already tried. good luck if you want to try (in his kernel it's not module but it's on built in driver)
i use vpn to my office with vpnc connection and it good to go
here is the link if you want to download vpnc connection
Code:
http://code.google.com/p/get-a-robot-vpnc/downloads/list
just download the vpnc connection.apk don't download anything else in there
Or try the Modaco custom kernel r26 with GR5. You can get a nearly stock phone with that.

I can build a kernel based on stock source with tun enabled and provide a cwm flashable.

It's not possible to keep stock kernel and just add the modules as if... You have to recompile the whole kernel and flash it... So why doing this as other kernel based in stock sources are available? Install SR2 kernel from spica and it will be perfect. A you perhaps... Know if you change only kernel it won't affect your /system, so you ROM will be stock like...
Don't waste time trying to make things that have already been made and working.

Because I tested other kernels and even if there are lots of improvement authors do, there are some bugs they introduce (ex: neoblaze => tethering not working, thanatos 4.2 => mybackuppro not working, cm7 => hdmi partialy working, djdroid => changements I don't like, etc) or changements I don't like. That's why I like the principle of using the stock rom/kernel as long as everything works.
I don't know about spica kernel, it's the only one I've not tried with swiftextreme. I will try it maybe later because restoring apps takes some time.

Flashing kernel doesn't touch /data you don't need to restore apps.
NeoBlaze seems not working with 20L. swiftextreme works only with CM7.
Hey there,
i've just built tun.ko vor v20l stock kernel.
Added a "struct outer_cache_fds outer_cache" in tun.c to replace a missing symbol in the stock kernel.
Greetings
Thank you so much tantalus! Although today I just installed Django with spica kernel (so with tun), that file should be usefull to other people!
