WTB (want to buy) dead Nook Color - Nook Color General

WTB (want to buy) dead Nook Color, looking to replace a nook color faceplate frame cover.
Faceplate frame cover must be in good to fair condition with no sign serious wear and tear.
If I can get the complete Faceplate frame cover only that would be a plus.

Does nook color fit in a Mercer Slip Cover?

Hi,
Did anyone try to fit a nook color in a Mercer Slip cover?.
The one here http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Mercer-Slip-Cover-in-Ink/e/9781615598922
According to the dimensions it should fit and fit snugly.
I am looking for something simple and pouch like and that looks nice in pictures.
I also found it for a lot cheaper on ebay.
Thanks for any help.
rchir
well, i went ahead and bought it via ebay from Barnes and Noble.
It was 9.99 shipped and is actually made of genuine leather (though recycled leather, whatever that means)
It is available here for $9.99

I will report back with results and pictures once i get it.
the nook color is slightly taller than the nook. so i think the top will stick out a little bit. last time i was at a B&N i tried to stick my nook color in a slip case that had a fabric latch with a snap on top and it would not snap because the top stuck out slightly. just, fyi
I was at a BN a few hours ago & can confirm it doesn't fit a NC since it sticks out on top about 0.5".

[Q] Book-like cases - do any offer real shock protection?

Loving my rooted (stock 1.01) nook color, but I am afraid to touch it sometimes! It is a great unit, but it feels a bit lightweight and I read at least one thread on here saying that it breaks easily when dropped.
I'm looking at the otterbox for shock protection, but a) that isn't out yet and b) I really prefer the look of some of the B&N book-style covers.
My question is, do the B&N covers provide adequate shock protection? And if not, are there other covers that do? I've been searching amazon etc and saw a couple of book-like hard cases, but they were apparently designed for the original nook and bizarely require you to attach the nook color with stick-on velcro strips that don't actually stick to the rubberized nook color back surface.
So I'm undecided. I want a handsome (though non-leather) fold-over book-like cover, but I also want something that will absorb the impact of droping the thing on a hard floor.
Have others found a solution to this dillema?
im personally considering making one, going to barnes and noble tomorow to look for ideas

I bought this case: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Vasco-Cover/e/9781616837259/?cds2Pid=35616
for 50 bucks. and i absolutely love it. I bought one of those "open flap" type of cases, and it just wasn't doing it for me. Always flipped open on it's own because i fold the case around the back when i use it.
But the soft leather on my new one folds back perfectly. It also has these nice magnets that hold it together, as well as inside pockets that also have magnets.
All in all, i love this case and it has protected my NC greatly so far.
I use the Lautner cover from B&N: http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Lautner-Book-Cover-Night/e/9781616865146/?itm=15
I've dropped my NC a couple of times without any damage to the NC. the corners of the cover have some give and reduce the shock on the device. Once the NC came unclipped, but was not damaged.

My Laughable NC Money Savers

I own two NC and am always looking to get the most out of them without spending the big bucks. So, read on for a couple of really CHEAP things I have done to save money on accessories:
1. I had to exchange NCs and hated to lose a perfectly good and rather expensive B&N screen protector, so I very carefully removed it and laid it on a piece of aluminum foil and folded the foil to protect it. After I received the replacement NC, I removed the protector from the foil and carefully applied it to the replacement NC. Perfect application other than the very small corner where I lifted it off the previous NC!
2. I've got B&N easel covers but don't like to use them because they add weight and clumsiness (IMO) to the NC. So I purchased the B&N silicon back covers and a $3.00 8-inch Tabletop Easel (Walmart) designed to hold framed pictures and now I have the perfect easel for hands-free reading, portrait or landscape, and with complete access to the softkeys. Just make sure to put it on a non-skid surface.
why foil? there is an even cheaper solution... just stick the screen protector onto a window.
What happened to the Nook that it had to be replaced?
i was just trying to find something that was clean and free of lint, dust and dirt. Unused/unrolled aluminum foil filled the bill. It was also easy to handle.
Nook had to be replaced because it stopped charging. The uSB port stopped working.

If you huffed a little you may have been able to do yourself one better and demand a new set of screen protectors to boot!
Can you post an image of your easel?

[Q] Superthin case for Nook Color

I bought a case off of ebay and while its pleasant (stylish) and protects my nook well, it adds at least 2x to the width of the device.
I'd really like a super thin case that protects the screen from bumps and possible breakage. Also, would provide some kind of stand capability.
Would be a bonus to cover the case from scratches as well.
The new iPad cover comes to mind - has anyone seen anything like this for the nook?
Anyone know any manufacturers overseas who might develop something like this?
by depth, do you mean thickness of the nook (screen to back = thickness, width is the short dimension when looking at the device)
anything with leather, fabric, silicon, and probably plastic is going to double the thickness of the nook - since they typically wrap 2 layers of the material over a rigid plate
the nook is listed as 0.48" (15/32") thick. With the silicon case i got on amazon, its 5/8" thick; but there is no screen protector. i got a 10" netbook neoprene sleeve, for putting it into a bag. though, i want to get something similar to a ratpadz mousepad (rigid pvc plastic sheet) for direct screen protection within the bag.
if you are up for a diy, you could make something out of fiberglass; that you could make it 1/16" thick for the front/back, to add only a 1/8" total. you could integrate it with a swing-out leg from the back. making it have 2 (for both directions) would require some serious design!

[for sale] Sullivan leather easel case

[not sure if for sale items can go here... If not, please tell me where it belongs.]
I'm selling my Sullivan leather easel case for $30.
It's a lightly used black leather cover/stand for Nook Color or Nook Tablet (fits both).
It has a hard cover and backing to protect your tablet and is covered in leather. This cover is great to protect your Nook Color or Nook Tablet when throwing it in a bag while on the go (I personally used it every day on the metro).
It also functions as a landscape easel at 2 angles. The higher angle is great for reading or watching videos. The lower angle is just perfect for typing emails and web browsing.
The cover also has a pocket on the inside which is great for holding a cleaning cloth, SD cards/SD card adapters, or any other small items.
This is a great cover and I am only selling it because I sold my Nook Color.
Has just a few scuffs on the outside from a few months use. Scuffs will probably come out with some leather care products. Will provide pictures if requested.
When purchased, cover will be provided in the original box.
Here is link to the product page on b&n website: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/p/sullivan-easel-cover/20831319 . It retails for $50. I'm asking $30.
Please pm me if you are interested.
PM sent.
The case is sold and is no longer for sale.
