Just came across these:
samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECS-V1A3BEGSTA
samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones-accessories/ECR-D1A3BEGSTA
Anyone tried these? I'm also wondering if they will work with the Sprint Nexus S 4G - Samsung's page says they will, but the 4G phone is going to be 1mm thicker and they could have just screwed up.
I can't say anything about the car dock because I don't use any. But, as for the desktop dock, I recommend taking a look at the KiDiGi dekstop dock for Nexus S. It looks awesome, it holds it tight into place, and it's not that expensive; also, it has a version with a 2nd battery compartment.

I've got both.
Nothing fancy, no bells or whistles.
Desktop dock has a blue LED to indicate when the phone is plugged in. When it's docked, the phone automatically goes to clock mode. Press the clock app on your phone's desktop to see what it looks like.
Car dock is completely passive. Very sturdy though so the phone sits there without jiggling, even when you press the screen/keys. Cheaper models are sometimes not quite so sturdy.
But both seem very good build quality. I'm happy with both of them.

Mind if I ask where you purchased them from? Samsung's online store always says they're backordered. I've been looking everywhere online for another place that sells these docks ever since the phone came out, but I can't find them for purchase anywhere. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have been on the fence about the desktop dock, but may have to buy one! Does it slide in and connect pretty easily?
Yes it plugs in and connects very easily and smoothly.
Feels like a very nice fit between the phone and the desk dock.
With the car dock the fit is very tight, which is good because the phone is not moving from its place at all.

Great thanks! Gotta get one now! Guess ill order from Samsung and hope it doesn't take too long to ship!

Man, how I wish they delivered to the U.S. I've been dying for one of those desk docks...
I'm ordering from Samsung to US will keep everyone posted on shipping times. I know it says they are backordered.

I found mine at best buy last night...they had both car and desk dock. I purchased the desk dock for work and love it. Just used it this morning for first time. Slides in easily and goes into landscape clock app automatically when plugged in displaying time and weather. Very cool!
does it come with a built in bluetooth? like the nexus one dock
I don't believe so...nothing mentioned on the box...just seems to charge phone and throw into landscape dock mode.

I just got a case from the sprint store yesterday. Do you think the phone will still fit in the car dock or will I have to remove the case?

I looked at them both at the local Best Buy. They don't look like they would work with a case so ill probably put just an invisible shield on to use the car dock.

Are there any docks that you guys recommend for the Nexus S? I don't want the one made by Samsung because its a landscape dock and I want a portrait dock

The Samsung dock does both portrait and landscape however.
I bought mine off eBay for cheap and melted the plastic with my soldering iron near the USB port so I could move it to a slight angle. That way I can put my phone on the charge with it's cover. Cost me 10$
Has anyone found and desk docks yet?

Any docks with pogo pin support?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I'm probably going to wait for this http://www.gear4.com/android/
or if something interesting comes out that uses the pogo pins, but I haven't seen anything yet.
found this one...
http://www.play.com/Electronics/Ele...-Desktop-Charger-Docking-Station/Product.html
Hard to believe no one has a simple landscape charging dock that uses the pogo pins yet, haven't even seen a pre-order announcement.
It probably won't be landscape for the pogo pins seeing as they are quite low down they could fit in a vertical dock. Also seeing as the home screen is vertical I don't see how an official landscape dock would come out.

Be warned, there are reports that this dock has the microUSB port rotated the wrong way so the Nexus 7 would have to be inserted facing backwards.
Am I correct in assuming that a dock is no use except as a paperweight if I'm not willing to remove Nexi™ from his little house?
And yes I'm serious. My toothbrush can charge without actually involving sockety things.
and now i'm starting to wonder why the hell any of my devices have pogo pins, i never find any reasonably dock that uses them for my gnex or the n7....

Its been reported Asus are producing a dock where it sits horizontally for movie watching. The pins are for that.

Nothing a new launcher doesn't fix as far as landscape for the home screen, Also I would think for watching movies, listening to music, etc. having it docked and charging would be a good thing and landscape is no problem.
With the pogo pins, they should be able to put two charging points, one for vertical and one for horizontal without any plugs sticking out and in the way.

The desk mode on the nexus works nicely in landscape with the stock launcher. Drop it in the dock and enjoy your nice new desk clock with multimedia functions
I wonder if they will eventually allow the stock launcher to use landscape fully? (without the need for third parties or dpi fiddles)
Anybody find any more docks?

I've seen plenty of regular micro usb docks and ones with speakers too
philips had some I saw at bestbuy a year ago or so
so keep in mind there are plenty of non pogo options out right now that would support your other micro usb devices too
All I'm looking for is a charging dock stand so it can be used as a clock. I like the one on gadgets4geeks a lot but it's pretty expensive to ship to the USA.

Today at work ive been playing around with one of the Kensington K33239 docks connected through USB-OTG. All ports seem to work except the audio and parallel ports. i managed to get the serial port working with the help of "Slick USB 2 Serial Terminal" as the only real reason i would need a serial port is for works router. works great, except that its only a docking station solution and does not charge the nexus 7 at the same time.

That is a portrait mode charging dock, not landscape one - there is a billion of them out there and it's nothing like the 2 docks I posted, which are landscape mode docks. Also it's for the wrong phone...not sure what's the point of your post
I'm with you, I'm looking for a landscape charging dock similar to my Captivate dock. I'm hoping something will come along soon.
I too would be interested, particularly in a landscape car dock, and just to make it particularly difficult, want to be able to leave the Note2 in the gel case.
I too have been looking for a landscape charging dock this is closest I found
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=170938617225&index=9&nav=SEARCH&nid=57027534825
It charges your phone and a spare battery in portrait it also has a second micro usb socket for data sync. But atleast it also holds the phone in landscape mode when needed. I have this dock and 2 of the batteries and its not bad.

I had the landscape one for my S3, cheap as well, broke apart and it was so cheap that u could twist it to make it fit with a case
You could infact but this one and remote the stand which has the USB input and slide back into ur liking till it lines up with the note 2 bottom

like you said - it holds the phone in portrait mode and it's not what we're looking for...there is a million docks just like this one out there, including official accessory from Samsung, posted on samsungusa website. This doesn't really help....
The links I posted in the OP are for the type of dock we're searching for.
This dock for original Note 1 can be used in both, portrait and landscape mode. This Indian eBay seller insists it fits both Note 1 & 2....Thoughts?

I have one, and when you plug it in the Note 2 recognizes that it's plugged into a dock, but it's loose. This phone is skinnier than the original note, so you have to be careful inserting it and i don't think it would lie on its side well. Maybe it would fit if you had a relatively thin case on your phone.
bump....has anyone seen any new aftermarket landscape charging docks out there yet?

I want one also. Don't like the portrait kind.
I've had landscape docks before for other phones but this is harder to find.
I don't think there are any yet for the Note II. I just looked overseas.
I can have one made but I'd have to explore how expensive it is.

I run DBA Cases.
I have people looking into it. If I can get them and carry them I will since I want one also
Here is a UK seller, which claims this dock is compatible with Note 2: http://www.amazon.co.uk/KitSound-Galaxy-Charging-Compatible-Samsung/dp/B008GJT6ZM
It also has a recent review from a guy, who mentions using it with Note 2. Any takers?
Landscape Dock
Right now all there are is portrait docks.
I can get a Landscape dock made but it's very expensive to make. I don't know what the demand will be.
Would people rather have a landscape dock?

Absolutely we want a landscape dock, that's what this thread is about
All the docks that I have seen so far that are available now or promised to be released in the future that take advantage of the docking port on the side of the Nexus 7 all hold the tablet in a landscape position. The problem I see with that is that many of the launchers have a harder time in landscape mode. Plus I do a lot of reading on my tablet which I find easier in Portrait mode as well. All of the docks that I have seen that hold the tablet in a portrait position are really only charging stands and do not utilize the docking port on the Nexus 7.
Has anyone seen....or heard of a dock still yet to be released....that uses the docking port on the Nexus 7 and holds it in a portrait position?
I've been looking for one too but I don't think you will find one that does uses the pogo pins while in portrait mode. The only ones that you might find is when someone builds one in the forums here and perhaps decides to sell one.
Although it does sound like a fun project to try and attempt and I may take a stab at it in the future.
You know....you would think that with how low the pins are on the side that this wouldn't be such a far fetch optional dock........
You are right, it really isn't but people only want docks in landscape so they can watch movies/play games since thats what they are used to having docks for.
Actually what would be really cool is a dock that offered both landscape AND portrait. I could see this one in of two ways.
1) have the base slide into two locking positions...one for the size of position for landscape or portrait. In landscape the pins would line up w along the bottom. When in portrait the a second port will line up to the pins along the side.
2) have bother portrait and landscape docks on the same base on opposite sides. You could then just rotate the base to have the you want facing you. It would be cool if both docks could be used at the same too...at least for charging the second one if only one doc is actually active.
