Good Sprint Rom for the tab. - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for rom for a sprint tablet with overclock and everything working stable... any recommendations?
Found plenty of GSM ones but not really CDMA versions...
I read that I can't install other carrier's roms or radios or it will do loop resets.. is this true?

I've only ever been able to get rooted stock and the Honeycomb port to actually work. Supposedly Khasmek's rom/kernel works too, but I've never had any luck with it on my sprint tab.

I see. I'll see if I can get deodexed version of the honey comb rom so that I can theme it up myself.
I kinda wish there was an kitchen that I can get my hands on...
like how calk used to have it for winmo phones back in the days...

Confused on which rom to follow.

Now that the whole Cyanogen deal happened I've been having a hard time finding the perfect donut release to follow. Any suggestions? Also what would you guys say to be the most stable Hero to be used day to day at this current time?
This is in the wrong section, but I use KingxKxKlick 1.9

Yes, this definitely in the wrong section, check out Q&A instead. Soon a mod will fix this, but keep it up, and you'll be temp banned.
That said, CyanMod is still an excellent, stable, fast Donut build. If you're looking to try Hero, I have used about a dozen, and Kingklick's is easily the best, and since about 1.7 has been completely stable--no swap partition or cpu overclocking needed, and it's still so fast it's just disgusting.
Cyanogen is still actively developing his ROM. I would suggest following him on twitter.. @cyanogen
I would suggest that you just keep using Cyanogen. If you have too much trouble installing, just install this version. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=569825
In theory, once installed, you can just install Cyan's official updates when he releases them.
With Hero ROMs, I found that in EVERY Hero release people claim its THE best Hero ROM available, so you gonna have to do some flashing to find out for yourself.
Now I use Hero3G UNI, others swear by Evil Hero 3.0 and MLIGN-HeroV2.5.5. These 3 ROM will need different and most likely customized user.conf settings. For Hero3G I found 196 swap w/100 swappiness and CC OFF works best. For Evil Hero you also need 196 swap partition.

There are some that are good, but some are the best. It all depends on how it runs on your device and how you config the user.conf.
Just remember, even with Donut, Hero ROMs have a lot of bells and whistles, but still lack core function like BT or Google Voice Support.
Cyan is my recommendation, and cyan is hinting at a very very soon update.
If you want to play with a new toy, try Motoblur, just be aware it lacks wifi.
it all depends on you. right now we have 3 working roms not including the pulse rom.
original android by cyanogen, [everything works]
hero by about 8 people (htcs own google ui), [bluetooth doesnt work, also im noticing flash doesnt either.]
blur [stable but slow, but good for social networks, no wifi]
just download the 3 different roms and test em out, dont just test one hero rom tho test em all and find what you like. but please do post in the q&a.

Google Voice works fine for me on KingKlick's 1.9...
Also, some other Hero threads claim to have bluetooth working, but I have tried them and keep going back to KingKlick because they are all too slow.
I also wouldn't recommend MotoBLUR yet, unless you are very experienced and want to help the devs. It's still waaay experimental, way more than just wifi doesn't work.
But all the Hero/Blur/experimental stuff aside, if you just want a good, stable, feature-rich, fast ROM, stick with Cyanogen. Hate to be so blunt, but he is simply the best.

Oh Nice! You can use it with the normal dialer? Not through contacts?
i've been using enomther's donut rom. seems to be working very nicely. haven't used cyan's 'newest' rom because he kept saying 4.2 was around the corner and I kept waiting. Last week also said he had some updates for the .999 build and was going to add another 9, but never released it. Also enom's rom has a hero theme addon for his latest release. Whereas nabzilla is also waiting on cyan's 4.2 to release an updated theme for that.

Which ROM for basic use?

Hi, I'm a Samsung Moment user trying to help a friend with a Hero. He has the official 2.1 update, and I'm going to try regaw's root method on it. Afterward, I need to find a good custom ROM to apply for him. His biggest complaint is that the phone is slow - lag dialing, etc... So I'm hoping for something dead simple without many bells and whistles. He doesn't even care about Sense, so a ROM without sense would be fine. I see a huge number of choices out there and I don't want to keep flashing roms on his phone over and over. So are there any recommendations on a simple 2.1 rom that runs lightning fast?
If your friend can give up MMS, Darchdroid is the way to go, in my opinion. It is an AOSP ROM based off of Cyanogen Mod. It's overclocked naturally (He won't have to do any special tricks or download any apps) to 710 MHz. It is senseless. The newest versions get crazy-good battery life. I have yet to experience any lag on this ROM.
I used SushiROM before this and it was also pretty quick and stable, but it hasn't been updated in ages (I don't think). I hear ICEROM is jsut as good as Sushi, but I haven't tried it.

DarchDroid all the way.
I love it i just email pictures if i have to.
Darchdroid if he can give up mms.
DamageControl 2.0.9 if he needs mms
or IceRom if he likes the look of Darchdroid but needs mms.
=)
If you want the closest one to the official sprint release, I suggest Fresh ROM. Although Flipz has done a lot of optimizations and stripped out a lot of the bloatware, but other than that it is pretty close to the official release. I have heard great things about Darch, but haven't tried it yet because I thought I wanted Sense, but have changed my mind and am running LauncherPro on Fresh right now.

Looking for a good Sense ROM HTC Hero CDMA

Hello. I've been running CM6 for quite awhile, and wanted to try something different.
I flashed LiquidSense, and it's ok, but, it has some quirks, and since it is not going to be changed or updated anymore at all, I'm looking for something else.
I'm not into a Beta, or something that is just a trial, I want an operational everyday ROM. I don't know much about odex and de-odex, so I suppose if I don't know it doesn't matter which I have.
I'm running Firerat's partion mod, so I would just have to adjust my sizes to accommodate the new Sense ROM's size like I did for LiquidSense, so that isn't a problem.
Any suggestions? I still want to be rooted, so, I definitely do not want to RUU back to stock.
Thanks.
Gingerbread. I use aospCMod, it's amazing.
EDIT: huh, well you can't see post titles on the xda app, so I missed the "sense" rom part, nevermind. There are sense themes for cm7, but not a newer sense rom that's full featured - yet.....

Problems with any 2.3 Rom when I flash it.

Hey everyone, I'm not really new to these forums. I've always came here looking for new stuff and/or help with existing problems. I've fixed plenty of problems I'v had in the past by not being a noob as you all say. I do my research and I've come to the conclusion, I cant fix this next problem. Looked here and other forums and tried what they recommended and I've gotten no where.
Here's the problem.
Was on DroidLife's website and saw that the Dinc had a 2.3 leak and I could put it in my phone that same time. So I did. Had no problems. Everything worked. No bugs. No data issues.
Since knowing that there was a 2.3 leak, I came here to see what the fine and awesome developers have come out with. I really liked Kingdom Stock GingerSense 3.0. So I DL'd it and did the whole procedure to the T to flash it.
I was playing around with it and I when I was texting my wife, who also has the same ROM AND phone as me, wasnt getting my texts.
I did a lil trial and error. I came to the conclusion it was my phone and not hers. I also noticed I CANT text anyone in the Verizon network. IE. My wife and her family. I can text my buddy on AT&T all the way on the east coast.
I saw a thread about APN stuff. So I reverted back to the liberation ROM, the stock sense 2.2. The texting all worked again. So I used APN BACKUP&RESTORE and backedup's the APN setting and then I re flashed Kingdom stock gingersense 3.0. So as it was up and running I restored the APN settings and nothing is working.
I've searched all that I could and I'm hoping any or all of you awesome people here can provide a brother some help.
Much appreciated,
Sandwich

So when you flash another Rom everything works? When you say nothing works can you get into hboot. What radio are you running and what clockwork. I know your not a noob but let's trouble shoot. If you restore stuff from 2.2 that doesn't work or isn't compatible with 3.0 it wont work.

This' the Development section. Mods'll move it to the correct section.
It may have to do with the fact that some of the 3.0 ports are GSM and for optimum results you should use a CDMA ported ROM.

[Q] Recommeneded ROM for Stability

My wife has Motorola Milestone that of course is no longer updated so it is stuck on 2.1, and recently it has started acting slow and freezing frequently, as well as more and more of the apps that she wants require 2.2. So I am looking to root and update so she can have a fresh start (I am sure some of the freezing will be resolved by cleaning the slate), enjoy the features of a newer kernel, and be able to get the apps she wants. I do have experience with ROMs (flashed a lot of ROMs to my old HTC Touch Pro, and even made a couple myself), so I doubt I will have any issue there.
My question, as the title states, is which is the best ROM for her? She definitely likes having cutting edge technology, but needs it to be stable. Or rather, I do, since I will be the one that has to fix any problems I would prefer that I don't have to reboot or reflash it every other day. Once or twice a month for an update is fine, maybe once a week if the ROM is bleeding edge but stable. I have looked at the new Cyanogen Mod 9 with ICS, but not sure if that is stable enough, so any input on that is appreciated.
Things to keep in mind:
1. This phone is from a smaller carrier (Nex-tech wireless)
2. This phone IS NOT active, i.e. it doesn't connect to a mobile data connection or a cellular tower. It uses wi-fi and is basically a portable computer for her (switched to an old non-smart phone to cut costs while we save up to switch to a new carrier when our contract is up)
If there are any other things that might help in picking a good ROM for her let me know so I can tell you.
Thanks!
I would personally recommend MIUI, if only I'm not having trouble with it messing up my Recovery.
and idk what u mean by the Milestone is stuck on 2.1. It can be updated to 2.2 officially.
To me, the most stable rom I've ever used is CM7 version 7.1.3 by HOHO Tho there are newer version, but to me, the latest version has black screen issues.
Thanks for the reply. I am actually in the US, so apparently even though my carrier distubutes it as a Milestone, it runs as a Droid. I have a small regional carrier that uses custom software, and it stopped updating it at 2.1. I was able to get it rooted and ended up using Cyanogen 7, so my wife is happily testing out android 2.3.1
I've run at least 30 different roms on my droid over the last three years and I can tell you hands down that peter's bugless beast wins hands down.
http://www.peteralfonso.com/2011/10/download-bugless-beast-v-gpa19-android.html
Stripped down, no bloat ASOP looks like the real rom and is fast as hell. I was able to run at 1300mhz no other rom has allowed me to go past 1200mhz without reboots/slowdowns.
Pete is the king of the OG Droid.
I run Steel Droid 10
After bricking My Droid 3 I had to literally dust off and charge up my OG Droid that's been sitting for over a year, did a clean install and I am in love with it my OG droid like I was the day it came out
he has milestone, not droid.
HONO is the stablest I've ever tried..
but this phone has some real issues with his locked boot loader,
so he freezes ALLOT no matter what..
I would recommend Cyanogenmod 7.1. That's android 2.3.7. Very stable. Working great on my Original Droid. I don't think the Milestone or the Droid have the hardware to run ICS.
Sent from my Droid using XDA
There is CM9 for the Milestone by kabaldan on here and there is UltimateICS I have CM9 installed and it runs ok the only problem I personally have is the limited space means I can't install the apps I had installed when I was using CM7.2.
Also UltimateICS was fast but it didn't work on my Milestone as I couldn't receive calls.

He has a CDMA version of the droid. They are called milestones by most of the carriers. It's the A855 I believe.
Anyways. Bugless beast is good if you want a ROM as close to stock as possible. Chevyno1' Simply Stunning 5.6 is a good Gingerbread rom and Chevy's Steel Droid is another really good gingerbread ROM. Chevy is also one of the few still developing for the original droid.
Peter Alfonso has probably some of the best kernels on his site for the droid. Very stable and lightweight. You may have to try a few of them until you find the right one for the phone. Each of these phones is different when it comes to the kernel. My phone I can't clock over 1000 or starts to boot loop. My wifes phone I can crank up to 1200 without an issue and it runs cooler then mine at 1000. Go figure.
I would also look up raidzero's rz recovery for the droid. It makes installing roms a snap.
Here is the thread I refered to when I rooted my phone. Download superuser before you start the root process. makes it easier.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764470&highlight=z4root
Also a quick item. To get into recovery after you root turn the phone off. Hold down the x key as you are turning it on. release the x key when the M logo appears. this is helpful if you wind up in a boot loop.
Cm9 worked really good but if your wife isn't techy and wants a fast rom and good battery I would say cm6
