I tried installing the older 3xxx CWM from rom manager, and then tried installing the rom but still didn't work. So I just reinstalled the 4.0.0.5 and wiped/flashed EXT3 and everything and now works :S
I don't know if this was some bug, but I got it fixed by just reinstalling CWM. Also the wiping takes a little longer than normal.

I've been flashing ROM's since I got my G1 two years ago, but never had anything like this.
I'm stuck on the Blazingdragon 1.8b ROM, I can only flash that ROM and boot. If I try any other ROM my phone freezes at the LG logo with the loading bar. Even updating to Blazingdragon 1.9b freezes my phone, I tried converting to EXT4 and back but wouldn't help.
Anyone know what to do?
Info:
Recovery: CWM 4.0.0.5
Baseband: 622
Current ROM: Blazingdragon 1.8b
BlazingDragon 1.9b uses EXT3, so you will need to convert to that before installing it, otherwise you'll be stuck on boot.
Use this to convert to EXT3 - http://imperticus.com/android/r1-backtoext3-2x-unsigned.zip
I flashed the back to EXT3 zip and then the Blazingdragon 1.9b, but I'm still stuck on boot.
How long does it normally take to flash the back to EXT3 zip, because mine is done in seconds, is this normal?
If all else fails: Backup, nvflash, root, download cwm, flash it, flash new rom, recover backup

If you're using latest recovery 4.0.0.5, always go to mount and storage in recovery and ensure that system, data, cache all those are always mounted before and after u flash something.

I have to check that as soon I'm home, but if I remember /data couldn't mount.

I've used mounted every partition and it still doesn't work.
What I did:
Mount all the partitions
Whipe data/cache/dalvik
Flash back to EXT3
Flash MoDaCo FR19 fear edition 12.1
Flash RIL622
Reboot
Still stuck on the bootloop, did I go something wrong?
First flash 622 then the rom
i think

Change your recovery. Use a older 3.xxx recovery. It should work.
I will try this as soon I'm home

hopefully this is where this goes. >_> if not, please guide me to where i need to be.
OK. so what is going on:
-right now i am using a STOCK version of 2.2.1 FRG83D, that i rooted with superoneclick.
-i used rom manager to flash RA recovery, because somehow i can't flash roms with clockwork anymore. errors out every time, regardless of version
-i can flash new custom roms using RA, etc etc, but cannot flash roms and restore to old backups
-if i try to USE a custom installed rom, no matter which it is (i have tried a few gingerbread, nxsense, and some 2.2.1 roms), they will ALWAYS reboot after using them for a few seconds, regardless of what i am doing (setting up, using market, or just letting it sit and do nothing)
what i have done before this happened:
-i was using nxsense perfectly fine. great rom, ran great.
-updated rom manager, and clockwork recovery
-tried to flash a new boot animation, but noticed that the new clockwork won't install older .zips that use assert-scripts(?)
-tried to downgrade clockwork, and it randomly restarted the phone during the downgrade
-wanted to try gingerbread, so i flashed the new(er) hboot 0.35.0017 even though i think i had it already, and installed the rom succesfully.
-the rom wouldn't let me download from the market, as it restarted when i tried to download anything.
-i thought the problem was with the new hboot, so i went through a tutorial to revert it back to 0.33.0012 and went back to eclair, so i updated up to frg83d (and obviously got the 0.35.0017 hboot back through updating) and rooted.
the rom i am using now (stock with root) runs fine. haven't really found any real problems.
i just have NO clue why i can't use custom roms. i would absolutely LOVE if someone could help me on this.
I also had similar problem two days ago. I upgraded my clockworkmod recovery to 3.0.0.5 and tried to flash MM CM7 v14. All the problem began. I cannot restore any custom roms except the stock froyo and MM CM7 restarts like crazy whenever I try to install any apps from the market. After that, I also tried RA recovery. No luck. Luckily, I finally find out that the latest recovery messes up my ext3 partition. So, I backup and format my SD card, recreate ext3 partition, restore the SD card, downgrade clockworkmod to 2.5.1.4, wipe everything, fix permission and install MM CM7. It finally works. Hope this help.
PS: as long as I downgrade the clockworkmod, I can restore any custom roms.
Never flash now you will brick it soon

Latest ClockworkMod was known to have some problem, perhaps.
Use Amon_Ra's, if you want to be sure, and wipe everything (data & dalvik-cache) when going from ROM to ROM. Use Titanium Backup for restoring the apps.

You're welcome. Glad to know my experience can help solving yours too.
Definitely a problem with Clockwork 3.0.0.5! I just went through madness trying to figure out WTF was up as well. The only fix was to completely format and re-partition my card then use RA instead of CW, works great now and I don't know if I will use CW again! What a pain...kinda regret having paid for ROM Manager now after this latest fiasco.
Hi guys, just flashed 622 baseband with appropriate RIL and now I cant boot...
Here is what I did:
1) Turned phone off, flashed baseband file, it went ok
2) Booted into recovery, restored my CM7 backup and then flashed RIL - success
3) Rebooted phone - getting stuck at LG logo, nothing happens.
Any ideas? Thanks
EDIT:
Hmm, after wiping data, cache and installing plain rom again it booted... Although new clean rom smells fresh, I'd like to get my backup back on and rolling
EDIT2:
Okay booted again, the key was to restore backup and then flash CM7 nightly over it
DELETE PLEASE

Glad you figured it out. Yes, you have to flash the CM7 again after you have restored from backup, before booting up.

That shouldn't really be necessary unless you're using a defective version of CWM. Some versions didn't restore the boot image properly, which is why you needed to flash it again.

so, 3.2.0.1 is the most stable and safe at the moment and should not have this issue? want to upgrade to 0622 soon so would be nice to know.
3.2.0.0 upwards doesn't have that problem. I'm happy with 4.0.0.5 though, I like to have the latest.

The 4.0.0.5 got a bug. It wont format /system I think, becouse when I installed CM7 over my old FR17 I got FC on many LG apps and services (which isn't in CM ). And yes, I did wipe, but it doesn't matter becouse that's only /data .. It worked with manual format through Advanced menu and then flash rom, but that shouldn't be necessary..
Yes and no, early 4.0.0.5 does that, the later version of it is fixed.
Hey
I've recently started flashing but I'd like to get back to my original ROM now (also the original LG ROM, stock rom). I made a back up before flashing and I just tried to restore it but my phone isn't booting up now, it's stuck at the second LG screen...
Any tips?

The stock rom is EXT3 so you need to flash BackToEXT3 in recovery and then restore the backup. You can get the zip file from the development forum. From CM7 build 146 onwards they are using EXT4.

You must install the backto Ext3 zip file with CWM, then to be sure perform a factory reset in CWM (reformat /cache and /data), then Wipe Dalvik's cache (in advanced option of CWM), then finally restore your backup using Restore option.

Thanks man, I'm about to do this. This explains my problems
I looked at all other threads on here and couldn't find a start forward answer to my problem most talk about the SD and ext partitions that I have never done
Problem started last night when trying to flash the new RC1 of Zero Hero once flashed phone just sat there at the first boot screen then tryed to go back to my current rom I was using and got a error while writing boot
then I noticed when I wipe dalvik cache I get
E: Can´t mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 (File exists)
So I was able to get the stock rom back rooted and reflashed CWM and works just fine but if I try to flash another rom it does the samething again would really like my ASOP back
Little update on the issue made a ext2 partition on my sd card resolved the mount errors but still if I try to flash something after formatting everything phone is still locked up at the HTC screen
Also if I try to restore a backup it errors when trying to write to boot using Clockwork Recovery 2.5.0.7
Try pointing this out in the zero ROMs thread. Maybe the development team would know more. Or just PM one of their developers
Sounds like u could try a different recovery.
Good luck

Tried a different recovery and that worked for me
so if you have these problems just flash a different recovery guys
I have the same issue whenever I flash any of the newer cwm recoveries. Only certain ones work for me. Strange.
Right now I'm using a custom 3.0.2.4 image from april 9th, 2011 I found on XDA.
There for awhile the 2.5.07 was working just fine but decided it was too cool for my phone so I got the stock 5.0.2.6 version on here and it worked like a charm running TeamHeroC 2.3.7 has to be the fastest I have ever used
I'm new here and the first ROM I've tried installing was RC1 91 but after I finished the procedure, my phone doesn´t leave LG home screen and rebooting after 5 sec. What did I do wrong?
Steps:
- Root;
- Download the ROM;
- Copy in external memory;
- Power off the phone;
- Boot in recovery;
- Backup current ROM;
- Wipe cache partition and wipe data/factory reset;
- Wipe dalvik cache
- Finally, flash ROM and reboot.
And the restore isn´t work too.
Do you have p990 or p999?
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA
P990 and i was running 2.3.4 V20l Euro Open
What recovery version do you have?, the CWM "touch" version HAS issues with flashing, try an older version , non touch, also its a lot better flashing from the external SD card than the internal memory (a.k.a. internal SD). (I use 5.0.2.7, you can grab it at Temasek thread, second post)
I had flashing issues and here is how they are throubleshoted:
1: Reflash, sometimes CWM (recovery) make bad flashes, reflash, sometimes it work.
2: Format everything, choose factory reset, then flash again, no need to wipe cache or dalvik because everything is wiped except recovery.
3: Use a script to get partition back to ext3, when a rom uses ext4 it automatically changes it BUT when you install a ext3 rom it does NOT reformat back to ext3, it leaves it in ext4 and thus doesnt work.
4: Try another rom, an older or a different rom, I had this issue with topogigi rom once and the modaco rom its 100% incompatible with my phone... dont ask why no one knows.
5: Use a different CMW version, this is no. 5 if you have a non touch version (mine for ej. has modded menus) but if you have the touch version it has issues with flashing, temasek had problems with his own roms...

you're missing one thing you should format/data factory reset first. of course the restore doesn't work because CM7 converts yours system to ext4. while stock rom the system is ext3.
you should try this script
Code:
http://etana.donka.hu/?dir=scripts
if you like you should full wipe or use nvflash recovery there is a thread there in development thread or from this one
Code:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/335474-25-mar-nvflash-stock-rom-release-v10b-dated-1300166062-15032011/
.
the difference between that script and nvflash is the method. vadonka scripts use CWM. and nvflash use the driver for your computer, if you use method nvflash you have already rom v10b.
after you already use nvflash / full wipe in vadonka script, you can flash cm7 again.
or if you like you can search in development section there is convert to ext3 back of course this method is delete your whole partition
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021549
did you backup your apps first like using titanium backup??
or maybe this method you can use recovery with nvflash but i think with this method you should have your boot.img backup first i haven't tried this method
Code:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1229407
