I have a rooted att tab and i need someone to explain the easiest way to flash a custom ROM. I have read a bunch of threads and used the "Search" option but i cant find a solid guide to follow. Most methods ive read seem super complicated with like 22 steps. I have a rooted galaxy s phone running Di11 Pick1e Rom so im not completely android ignorant. If someone can help me out id really appreciate it.

I'm new to the whole android OS and I trying to unroot my nexus one and I have read that it is possible here on XDA but I can't seem to understand it. I thinking of installing the original gingerbread stock rom onto my sd card then to my phone will that work for me or is there more to it. If someone would help me out I would really appreciate it.
You're probably better off flashing a rooted stock rom.
Unroot/restore guide in the wiki. Use passimg method with FRG33. If the updates to GRI40 don't start automatically, you can flash them yourself...

I understand rooting opens the phone to protected areas. I am trying to understand what the different roms do. Can someone explain why you need them?
Also is there a root process available for the sprint 7 inch tab on 2.3.4? If so how do you do it?

I have a Galaxy Tab 7 from Verizon I was wanting to get it rooted and debloated. I assume there is a download for it somewhere but I have been unable to find I am currently 2.3.5. Thanks for any information.
You haven't been able to find Superoneclick in the dev section to root phone

Yes, I did see that for my Droid charge I had found a stock software that was Deodexed, debloated and rooted. I think it was a file extension .md5 I was hoping to find something similar.
Hello!
I've been searching the web and this site for hours with no luck. Every single root I come across is no longer working, has a cracked link, is for the wrong firmware/model and other such issues. I've tried to flash Kernel with Odin but I can't find any working links for that either. So I've made an account and am hoping to get some help! Sorry for being a noob.
I am on the Rogers network. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate I896. I'm running Gingerbread 2.3.3.
If anyone could help me out I would seriously appreciate it!
There are stickies and many great guides all over the forum that show you how. If you read on, you will see that this question has been asked a lot and is always given the same answer.

Download and run SuperOneClick Root (You'll find it on XDA). It should root your device.

I've looked at that, it's not for my phone model.
Thank you for replying though.

I have looked at quite a few of them and have not been able to find any that still work. Most are from 2010-2011 when the phone came out and don't work with the upgrade or have been taken down. As I said in the first post. If you could link me to one you know works with my model and firmware and is still functioning I would appreciate it.
As stated above...use SuperOneClick to get Root. It works. There are many threads in the Q & A forum that have covered this. A quick search will show this. The i897 Captivate and i896 are pretty much the same phone.

Search for T849, a dozen thread a least,
And I answered some of them.

Guaranteed to work.
