Swype apk that works w/ default htc msg app - Thunderbolt Themes and Apps

This version of Swype is not the latest, but it works with the default HTC msg app. The latest beta does not capitalize or add spaces between words. This one adds spaces when you enter the NEXT word in the sentence. It's odd, but at least it works.
Download the apk, use Root Explorer or another file manager to install. Go to settings / language & keyboard, and enable Swype. Then go to any text input field (browser, msg app) and longpress the input field. When you lift your finger, "Input method" popup box appears. Touch the box and select Swype. Go back to settings / language & keyboard to change Swype settings as desired.

Thanks for the info. For me, Swype doesn't add a space between words. I've reinstalled and tried everything and it still doesn't work.
I'll download and try your fix.

copy/paste & word spelling

is there a program out there that can spell out the words while u texting like the "DASH".or so is it any way you can copy/paste right from the Internet Browser
With Android 1.5, the Locale & Text settings allow you to program your own words into the dictionary, and set keyboard settings (like auto-correction). I'm sure auto-correction on the hardware keyboard is possible on 1.1 still, but I can't remember where.
As for copy/paste, you can do so in mail and browser by holding the shift key on the keyboard and selecting with your finger or the trackball. On the browser, the menu also includes a "select text" option.
Thz alot ill do that now

The Beta worked for about 14 days, and then the phone started doing some random hangs. and after not being able to type anything in a SMS i changed the keyboard back, and my phone is now normal.
Cool keyboard, but might cause problems....
when the beta stops working you might want to try Perfect Keyboard, and Smart keyboard, they have similar options, except importing SMS into dictionary.
Thanks for it
I will try and see

Go Keyboard problems
1. I use the speech recognition a lot. When I set the Voice Key to 'On main keyboard' I loose the Comma key.
Is there any way I can get both the voice key and the comma key on the main screen?
2. When I use the voice recognition (the Voice Recognition is great, 90% or better) but if I try to edit the phrase it shows because a letter is incorrect. I put the cursor to the right of the letter and hit backspace or space and it pastes the whole phrase in again in the middle of the phrase I am trying to edit. Any idea how to avoid this?
I really like Go Keyboard, but these 2 things are driving me nuts.
Regards,
Mark
I cant seem to be getting the T9 on the messaging. As soon as i click on the msg body , the t9 button just disaapears.. it appears on when I am adding a contact name... any clue on how to fix this ?

[Q] No keyboard after restart

Hey all,
My new m8 (AT&T, 4.4.2, rooted) is having some issues. After a restart, I went to type a text and got no keyboard popup or notification to select input. I assumed my Swype trial had expired, went and uninstalled the trial and tried to install the full version. On the second screen, it tells you to select the Swype + Dragon keyboard, but when I select it, nothing changes; it just goes back to the Swype app telling me to select the keyboard. I'm not even getting the stock Android keyboard anymore, and I can't bring up the input selection through anything other than the Swype app. (On a similar but potentially random side note, it also won't let me change my auto-rotate setting. If I enable it, it immediately disables itself when I change screens.) I downloaded SwiftKey and it gets stuck on the same screen, but when I select it, the keyboard will pop up in texts (it just has a notification that I need to finish installation.)
Just trying to avoid a fresh install...
EDIT: if I select the stock keyboard, I can also get that working (the notification to change input also comes back), so it's now just Swype.

May i suggest you to try Swiftkey instead of Swype? Swiftkey is a great keyboard, it does also have the "swype" feature and recently, full version of Swiftkey became free compared to Swype which cost around 5$ and it was also recently updated to support emoji.
Btw you have posted in the M7 forum, forum for the M8 is here

N preview bug?

I can't seem to find a way to change default keyboard after initial install of a new keyboard. By this I mean to say that, for instance, when I install swype the swype setup menu will allow me to select swype as default keyboard, but I can't do this from the language and input settings in settings and if I long press comma the only options I get are to change Google keyboard settings or language settings. I can't easily switch between swype and Google keyboard.
Anyone else? Maybe I'm just being an idiot?

Mine is working fine. When you go into language & input it should be under "virtual keyboard" and you can change it there.
