My friend from work came up to me today said his droid was messed up and asked me to fix it, im somewhat of an android aficionado, so i said sure, well i get it and he doesnt have a launcher installed basically i got it into recovery and restored it, and it still doesn't pop up with a launcher, now im coming from a samsung phone where odin can fix anything, im wondering if there is any such wonder tool for droid, or if someone can point me to an update.zip i can use to install a custom recovery to install a rom, cause ill just put a rooted stock rom on here for him, he doesn't care
i have found and am installing rsd lite, is this the odin like tool ive been looking for???

Oh snap
Hey everybody,
I just got back my motorola milestone from my provider because it has the ghost hand issue.
Now my problem is the I flashed the GOT back and I tried the original Shols as well with vulnerable recovery and I have the following issue.
I press power and X together, the triangle comes up and when I choose install update.zip the installing is coming and it says install successful but I got the recovery menu back and not the open recovery.
Any ideas? I will re-flash the phone again as soon as I got home but still it's a strange and weird issue. I tried to use ClockWork mod as well, same thing happened.
Thanks in forward!
Phami

Not working....I get the verification failed error message, like I didn't flashed the vulnerable sbf.
SO I reflashed with the RTEU Shols and then the vulnerable flash the one that's working with the 90.78 bootloader
I tried to flash GOT, same error message, it feels like the RSD Tool is just simply wiping the phone but do not flash the OS on my phone.
I thought maybe that's the problem so I tried a different RTEU and that didn't even boot up my phone, so it's doing something...I try to reflash GOT again..if it is not gonna help me then I don't know what to do...I never had this issue before...Never...I'm not a noob, I used a lot of a different ROMs and finally I see we got 2nd boot working my phone doesn't reach the open recovery...loooolllll
HELP ME haha
Update: Tried it, didn't work...
It maybe the problem of that I have Windows 7 64bit on my laptop and it has some issues with RSD Lite before i re-installed the Windows...Force Flash and some other stuff...How can I check that I have GOT on my phone or the original shols? Should be somewhere at "About Phone" section.
Don't flash the OR with RSDLite!
Flashing installs it to the phone's internal memory.
Just copy&paste the 'OpenRecovery' folder and the 'update.zip' to the root of your sd-card.

I flashed the OS not the OR, as I stated I'm not a noob with it, I already been thru with almost all the ROMS that's being available on our MileStone but I never faced an issue like that! I don't know where I go wrong I have one idea left maybe that will help me! Thank You tho!

"E:EOCD marker occurs after start of EOCD E:signature verification failed"
Kinda strange

The problem is, that I don't have that install-recovery.sh in my system/etc/
Should that file dissappear when I first boot the phone after flashing the vulnerable RAM DL?

No. After you flash vuln. recovery you need to boot directly to recovery and remove that file.

Ok guys bought a droid bionic to replace my s4 that i am selling for note 3 and having an issue getting recovery working. I rooted it with no issues and then go for the bootstrap/safestrap recovery and boot into clockwork then i reboot and boom encryption unsucessful. After awhile of finding the right sbf file i flashed it in rsdlite and got phone back on and still have sdcard and stuff that i heard can sometimes be rendered unusable. So now im wondering how i can root, recovery and flash some roms successfully. Any suggestions?
So noobish of me
I'm having the same problem being a scrub and all wit linix and cwm in general. I manage to get myself to the same spot encryption unsuccessful - which gives me the option to do a factory reset which obviously doesn't not work.. So i tried to do a reset in the cw recovery which i managed to do but still stuck. I'm running jellybean on my Droid Bionic - i read that you can't flash it with RSDlite if your running jb you'll end up with a hard brick. So i'm stuck in sum kind of boot loop which i'm assuming i need to find the right sbf file and push it through sum how? Or flash it wit my recovery i made on my sd but don't kno how.. Help Anyone?

RSD LITE on 5/22 OEM failure
So in the sbf file i had to alter the fxz - xml document
Deleting two lines from the scripted
consisting of OEM .
Once i removed these two lines RSD functioned correctly finally

So to set the story i had came home and rooted jb via linux method. Then presumed to use bootstrap as a recovery. I installed it and it said success. Then i presumed to change the bootloader unknowing if it was locked. So i reboot and i am stuck at Encryption unsuccessful screen and the only option is to power off or reset. What do i do ive tried to reset but it doesnt work also i tried to do a hard reset via stock recovery this also didnt work im unsure where to go about this problem now. Please help Im panicing! From what ive researched i think its soft bricked. Also there appears to be a fix on House of Bionic but it isnt clear. Lastly, I believe the problem resides with bootstrap but im unsure its just a hunch. All options will be tried.

Its been a while since I have had to do it but you should use RSD Lite and a 4.1.2 hsx file for the bionic. If you google the two you should comeup with the files you will need. Sorry I cant be of more help.
EDIT: So I still have the file you need to flash using RSD Lite (Not sure what version you will need). https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/80936776/cdma_targa_9.8.2O-72_VZW-22_cfc.xml.zip This file is 468 MB.
Now you just need to download RSD Lite. It only works with Windows. Windows XP is probably your best bet.

Yes I believe you did edit it out. However I used a different link. I did get it working and rooted with the help of a linux bootable disc. Also I install safestrap correctly. But ran into a problem. I got cocky and didnt read all the instructions on flashing a rom and accidently flashed it over top of the stock rom so when i boot it loops then goes to recovery. Next i did a factory reset and wipe retried but no luck. So i did the only thing i knew to do was to make a second rom slot and install the backup i made of the stock. Which works fine no complaints. But low on storage how would i go about wiping the stock rom with out doing a complete factory reset through rsd lite again. That way i could just flash my backup on top of stock cause it wont flash properly as is. Thanks in advance

Activate the stock slot, then go to advanced wipe and select cache, dalvik cache and system. Then after the wipe you should be able to restore your stock backup to the stock slot. Then reboot. If it works you can then safely delete the other slot you created.
I was in the process of downgrading my phone from 5.1.1 to 4.4.2.
I started here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...to-root-g870aucu1aoa1-4-4-4-2-7-2015-t3025119
I accidentally flashed the second Kernel first and the then my phone wouldn't boot, just boot-looped to to the recovery, I tried to do a factory reset/wiped, but still had same issue, then I factory reset/wiped and then cleared the cache. Same issue. I have tried updating to stock 5.1.1 roms, 4.4.2 roms, stock rooted roms, I have tried to just about everything I can find online. I either get failures ranging from the following:
I'm trying to get my phone working again by flashing the stock firmware with odin3 (tried 3.9 and 3.10) but it fails every time and gives me the error "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1" while in download mode..

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/sm-g870a-samsung-s5-active-softbricked-t3161137
I have also tried this: http://www.droidviews.com/fix-status-7-error-while-installing-ota-update-or-roms/
since I was getting a status 7 error, but then I got another error after that (error is sideload package)
I can get to Custom OS download function and I can get to the boot recovery.
I honestly don't care if this phone is rooted or not, stock rom or not, but I need to get it back up and running, please help, Samsungs are new to me.
***UPDATE***
I just wanted to let everyone know that after about 30 different files, some through Odin, some through Recovery I finally got one to install and fix my AOS. The file that finally didn't fail to load in Recovery was Here: www androidfilehost com / ?w=search&s=g870a <--Add in the dots and remove the spaces, and make it a secure website.
It was more specifically G870A_OF3_tJ3_OTA.zip, it did fail something at the end of the recovery but it stayed on the screen for less than a second so I didn't see what failed but my phone is working now.
Hopefully one of those files will help someone else out.

BTW, I loaded it using the stock recovery. Took about 4 minutes to load and 2-3 more to boot up. Installs Android 5.1.1
I am having a the same issue. I was on a stock 5.1.1, didn't read that this kernel was for 4.2.2 Now my phone will not boot.

Im in the same boat. Trying the files from OP first. Hopefully one works. I presume we need to move the OP zip file to the sd card on the phone, and update from recovery mode on the phone?
I just got a SM-G870A from a buddy of mine, he says he made the same mistake as the OP. Tried going from PB3 to NE4. He says he tried Odin flashing system images, kernels, and bootloader.
The system recovery says OC5.
Do I need to walk my flashes up OC5-OF2 - OF2-OF3 - OF3-OJ3 to fix this soft brick??
Thank you Chosenbc!!!!!!!!!!!! after several days (more than 5 weeks) I could unbrick my SM-G870A and this was possible all because of you and who uploaded the working Rom. Thank you, thank you thank you! for making this post!
